When Marlon noticed the couple getting ready to leave, he tried his best to convince them to stay. "Alicia hasn't eaten enough," he said. "Eat a bit more before you leave. If you don't want to drink, that's okay."
But Louis didn't sit back down. It didn't matter whether he drank or not. What really bothered him was Chuck sitting across from Alicia, occasionally looking at her. It made him feel uncomfortable.
Seeing Louis still standing, Marlon stood up too. He put a hand on Louis's shoulder, and pushed him back into his seat. "Alicia had a long day," Marlon said. "We can't let her leave hungry. If you don't look out for your wife, I'll still look out for my student."
With that, Louis let go of the idea of leaving. But he didn't really enjoy his meal, feeling as though there were a fishbone stuck in his throat.
