Alicia whipped her head away, her eyes darting around suspiciously. "What's your game?" she snapped, her voice guarded.
Louis grabbed her tiny chin and flashed a sly grin. "You tell me," he said smoothly. "But it surely isn't to crunch calculus with you, honey."
Alicia pushed her finger against his chin, halting him in his tracks. "You said you wanted a divorce," she reminded him.
"But you said you didn't want one anymore," Louis countered, his tone low and sultry.
"I only said that to rile up Madelyn," Alicia shot back.
Louis locked eyes with her, his gaze intense. "But I believed you," he murmured.
Alicia looked away, her lashes brushing against his cheeks. "I don't wanna do this right now," she said, trying to keep her voice steady.
Louis raised an eyebrow, mischief sparkling in his eyes. "Who was the one coming onto me just a minute ago?" he teased.
"I wasn't..." Alicia stuttered, but then faltered. She couldn't find the right words to defend herself.
