BOOMMM!!
Suddenly, a deafening explosion sounded, followed by vibrations in the building where they were located. This caused Erik and the others to almost lose their balance.
"What's that?" one of the nurses asked, looking panicked. The sound of the explosion and the vibrations that had just occurred was very close to them as if something had hit the hospital building.
"HOLD ON TIGHT AND STAY FOCUSED!" shouted the doctor who was treating Violla.
"Okay, Doctor. Please forgive us," the nurse with him replied simultaneously. Then they proceeded to follow all of the doctor's instructions.
The vibrations gradually subsided, and this made the worried and fearful feelings of the people in the room disappear as well.
After injecting some fluids into Violla's body, her body began to calm down and she no longer convulsed. However, her heart rate and breathing were still irregular, worse than before, to the point where the graph shown by the electrocardiograph next to Violla slowly changed and formed a flat line.
Erik's body froze, and he choked on his breath, seeing the scene in front of him.
"No...no...this can't happen. Miss Violla can't die. Doctor, you have to save her, she can't die. I'll do anything for you as long as she can survive," Erik rambled incoherently, approaching the stretcher and pleading with the doctor. His face was very pale, and his hands were shaking violently.
The doctor ignored Erik, and a nurse approached him, urging him to step away from the stretcher.
The electrocardiograph revealed an irregular heart rhythm in Violla, prompting the doctor to immediately perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation by compressing her chest wall - essentially pumping her heart from the outside using a defibrillator with high voltage electric current.
Erik fell to the floor upon seeing the scene before him, his eyes fixated on Violla's body.
The heart resuscitation process was performed for several minutes, but there was no change in the electrocardiograph. The doctor took a deep breath, and with a heavy heart, stopped his compressions.
The doctor and nurse had done their best, but their efforts were unsuccessful. At least they had tried.
Erik stood up and stumbled towards the stretcher.
"Why did you stop?" His voice was hoarse and shaky.
"Forgive us, Sir. We..."
Beeeeep...
Violla's body convulsed violently, her upper body lifting. The ventilator and electrocardiograph alarms sounded continuous.
The flat line on the electrocardiograph showed a significant change.
The doctor immediately checked Violla's overall condition and sighed with relief. The patient in front of him had returned to normal; breathing, vital signs, and heart rate had all returned to normal.
This was a miracle. At a time when he felt that his patient could not be saved, something unexpected happened. He couldn't find the cause, but whatever it was, he was grateful.
Erik, standing next to the stretcher, wept unconsciously. He didn't even realize he was crying.
"Miss Violla's condition is back to normal, sir. You can relax now. Don't worry, this is a common occurrence for patients who have been in a coma," the doctor said, trying to calm Erik down.
Erik simply nodded, approached the girl, and gently stroked her head. Anyone who saw him would feel the immense love and care he had for the girl.
Suddenly, there was a commotion outside the room. After finishing everything that needed to be done, the doctor and nurse bid farewell to Erik.
Little did Erik know that the hospital building was almost collapsing due to a collision with an unknown object that suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
The alarm on the top floor of the hospital blared. Security personnel and some nurses rushed to check the room.
Everyone who was previously busy enjoying the stunning night sky view now stared in horror at the hospital's roof, which had suddenly collapsed.
Some of them saw a strange object that crashed into the edge of the hospital building's roof and continued to move at high-speed several kilometers away.
"What happened?"
"Is that a meteorite?" Various questions and speculations arose.
The fear felt by the people made them scatter and move away from the city square. However, many also approached the hospital out of curiosity. In an instant, the street became deserted again.
Police patrolling around the city square quickly turned their car and headed for the hospital.
Fortunately, the top floor of the hospital only contained medical equipment, so there were no casualties in this incident.
Nurses and security personnel who arrived at the top floor of the hospital were shocked to see the damage. The roof and walls of the room were destroyed, and cracks could be seen everywhere, even on the floor. Some medical equipment on the edge of the room was damaged and deformed, with dust filling the room. Although the damage was not too severe, it caused a lot of losses.
"Look! Someone is injured over there," a nurse shouted, running towards the corner of the room, occasionally jumping to avoid the chunks of concrete and glass scattered on the floor.
"Hey, wait! It's dangerous there. Don't move recklessly," a security officer shouted, following the nurse very carefully, afraid that another collapse might occur.
"Someone, come here and help me," the nurse said. Some people immediately approached her, while others just stood and watched from afar, with a look of fear on their faces.
"Who is he? He is not a patient or a staff member here. Do you know him?" a man asked, squinting his eyes. The person in front of him was not wearing a patient's gown or hospital uniform.
"Stop talking and help me. She is severely injured. We can find out her identity later."
Time passed quickly. It was now two o'clock in the morning. Using his arm to support his head on the bedside, Erik appeared to be sleeping soundly.
The man did not realize a small movement from Violla's fingers. A few moment later, her eyes, which had been closed for a year, slowly moved and then opened.
Her blurry vision gradually became clear. "Where am I?" Violla thought as she woke up in a very unfamiliar room.
Her forehead furrowed when she found herself surrounded by various tubes and other objects.
"What kind of place is this?" she thought to herself.
