**LITTLE RAYAN'S POV**
"Listen kid I've been thinking and I finally understand something," Mr Lance said while I was boxing the oak tree.
"beating the crap out of you only solves half of my problem," he paused and poked me with his walking stick, "the other half is you, I thought that if I trained you it would only take two days for you to finally win, but it's been a week and you haven't won't once,"
I could hear the frustration in his voice as he said this, but how does he expect me to win when every day my hands and my entire body are beyond sore. It hard enough fighting a person when I'm in I my peak condition.
" so we'll try to build up some power stamina and speed while we train, so stop what you are doing I'd say endurance but you're set for that, "he said with a light grin on his face.
He didn't have to tell me twice, I stopped punching the oak tree, I was practically dreaming of this.
" today I want you to do 50 push ups, 60 sit ups and I want you to run for thirty minutes for three sets, "he said as he wiped the ground below him and sat down." and when you are done back to the tree. "
The brief joy I had felt was destroyed in a blink of an eye with those words and thus this became the new training regiment for the first two weeks and in the third week he added ten reps in every exercise but the sets remained the same. This slowly progressed till I reached a hundred and fifty push ups, a hundred and sixty sit ups and three hours run.
At first it was torture, my muscles were sore the first month but once my body adjusted to it, I could notice a few changes in me, my punches were faster and more powerful I didn't run out of breath easily and also muscles started to become more bigger and more defined after the third month.
Finally after a long struggle, I became one of the ten left standing and not just out of luck but I was completely overwhelming my opponents. It was surprising to say the least, as we entered the arena, I assumed the fighting stance Mr Lance told me to use every time I fought.
"remember brat, guard up and firm stance goes a long way in a fight," I heard his voice ring in my ear as the fight started.
I could see three of the recruits charging at me. I didn't panic, I timed the one at the front as they kept getting close to me I back stepped to create some distance between them and myself. I didn't waste any time, I dropped down in a crouching position and sweeped his front leg in a movement that Mr Lance had taught me, moving your leg in a circular direction.
He dropped on the ground and he got disqualified, the other two were now a step away from me, I was already on my feet, the one on my left threw a right hook at me and I easily dodged back, the other threw a kick and I did something that was painful to say the least. I grabbed his foot and hit his knee with my elbow as hard as I could.
A loud crunch came out of it and so did blood, from under his leg I could see a bit of his bloody bone protruding out. The boy screamed out in pain and his friend backed away, I quickly placed the broken leg under my armpit, punched him with the other free hand until his mouth and nose was covered in blood. I finally let go of him and he dropped down on the ground, he held his leg screaming and groaning in pain, tears fell from his cheeks as he rolled on the ground.
I didn't waste this moment of shock, I moved as fast as I could to the boy who was backing away from me, in a second my palm was on his face and I pushed him to the ground head first, as his head made contact with the ground, a loud thud could be heard and dust rose from the ground.
The boy lay there unconscious, Blood came out of his head as he laid there, I stood and by instinct I dodged a punch that someone had thrown behind my back, his punch passed me by my ear and I grabbed his arm and threw him over my shoulder, disqualifying yet another recruit.
I was eating the meal that I had earned, my eyes closed as the morsels rolled down my throat, the food itself wasn't anything special it was undercooked rice with some passable stew but what really made it delicious was the thought of not being on the receiving end of Mr Lance's walking stick today.
Suddenly I felt my head get pushed down sideways, my head hit the edge of the table and I fell off from my seat. As I was on the ground I saw two sets of feet over my head, one belonged to a girl and the other a boy, it was none other than Bruce and Darla. The person who had banged my head on the side of the table was Bruce,i stood up in anger and grabbed him by the collar.
"Why the fuck did you that for?" I asked my teeth bared at him.
"what the fuck is going on with you?" he asked as he grabbed my by the collar too.
"what do you mean!?"
"breaking that guy's leg or slamming the other head on the ground," he said his tone showing annoyance.
"Rayan that was too far," Darla finally spoke as she glared at me.
"oh am sorry I don't know when I gave a fuck,"
Our supervisor, one of the masked me who would feed us and escorted us to our arena, came to where we were and separated us. I hadn't noticed this before but the room had gone quiet in anticipation of the fight that was to come.
Thanks to those two, I had lost my appetite and I left the room. The room or hall we were eating in was in a different building from our rooms, this place was only used by the remaining ten who had won so my first time here and those two manage to ruin it.
I got out to find Mr Lance waiting for me, in his hand was a bottle of rum and judging by the way he was slightly stumbling he must have already reached halfway if not completely emptied the bottle already.
"what you didn't think you'd miss training because of today's win, did you?" he said.
"well yeah don't I deserve it," I said.
"what you do deserve is a hit ion the head if you don't get back to training." he said as he raised his walking stick threateningly.
I followed him to our training ground to train.
After that day, it was what marked the beginning of my long two year win streak but the more I won the more I kept losing myself I was becoming something that Mr Lance had molded to the point that the Rayan that was brought in here and the Rayan that was staying here became two very different individuals.
