Chapter 13 - Core

Fray Norman's POV

Again, I'm stuck in this dark void, where I can't even see my own arms or legs.

After endlessly trying to adapt to this scorching darkness, I realized it was impossible; it felt more like my body wasn't even seeable.

*Sigh*

Hmm... what about mana? I mean, even if it's a void, I guess mana particles still must be present, but that's just my assumption.

[Fray sat down, fully concentrating on finding mana particles. But to his surprise, he didn't need to search for it, as it was scattered all over the space, but it was differently spread than it usually is; it was dense, and it wasn't dense in just one point; the whole space was filled with a huge amount of mana; it was like a blessing for a mage.]

That's a lot of mana.

But will my body be able to withstand this amount of mana endlessly entering my body?

Well, it doesn't really matter; if I fail, then I die; however, if I succeed, the risk is worth it.

[Fray once again focused on the mana around him, but this time he allowed the mana to enter his body uncontrollably; huge amounts of it suddenly soaked into him in waves, allowing him to absorb it.]

"This child..."—[a sudden voice of a man diminished the absolute silence]

[But Fray didn't lose his concentration and ignored the voice.]

"Not bad for a kid, if I may say so."

"Usually, when this overwhelming amount enters someone's body, it destroys it, but the child endures it like a piece of cake, and he isn't only enduring it—he's absorbing all of it, like a hungry wolf devouring his prey, a gluttonous monster."

"He's well fit to be my successor; he shall receive my knowledge and power."

"I'll patiently wait for you."

[4 months later]

Uff...

Finally, I did it.

My core. It was finally created. I can sense the mana inside of it; compared to the amount that was spread throughout my whole body, it was 10x the amount or even more.

Mana particles that required me to concentrate just to see them are now constantly entering my body.

"Child," — it was the voice of a man that I don't know personally, but I could hear him this whole time.

He called himself Kang, the sun magic user, and for some reason, he was stuck in this void, and then, for some unknown reason, I have been warped to this place.

He was here for approximately three centuries. Alone.

"I see you've finally succeeded; I acknowledge those whose willpower is immeasurable, and you're one of those."

"I, the strongest swordsman, Kang, will teach you the sun magic and the special sword technique." — He basically already made himself my teacher.

But what does he mean by "teach"?

"Wait, sir, but you can't teach someone a type of magic? The type of magic you could use is only destined by your fate." – I asked him curiously.

"Haha!  You think that's a problem for me? Ìt's simple; I'll have to enforce the magic upon you."

"E-enforce?!" – I sluttered.

"Yes, it's a painful process, but the reward is worth it, and when we finish engraving the magic inside of you, I'll teach you my special sword techniques."

Throughout the whole conversation, I tried to sense him but couldn't. It was as if he altered the mana surrounding him, creating camouflage for himself.

He told me to sit foot to foot, like some kind of yoga position.

Then, I could sense someone or something touching my back. That being was sending something into my body.

Suddenly,

"UHHHHHH"—I screamed in pain.

The pain was unbearable.

"AHH-STOOP PLEASE, I BEGG YOU!"

The being continued imprinting something into me.

The pain didn't stop. No, on the contrary, the pain only increased.

I moaned and screamed incessantly.

[3 months later]

3 months.

I continuously suffered from this vast pain for 3 months.

My voice was gone from endlessly screaming in pain and moaning.

"Finally we are done."—the bastard that made me suffer to death said.

The force of the continuous pain made itself clear, and I felt like I was dying.

No. I can't die now. I have come this far.

"Honestly, your willpower and your spirit are unfathomable; even I wouldn't have been able to withstand such a long time of torture; your body was blessed by the Gods."

So he didn't even expect me to endure it? That's quite disappointing.

But now it didn't matter; I could feel the power of the sun.

If I desire to, can I create an orb equal to the power of the sun?

So I can finally reach the power I craved for?

Just by sending a mere amount of mana and colliding it with sun magic towards my palm, I could feel the heat of it.

"This is the godly magic of the sun; I don't think any type of magic is close to it. It's simply too powerful." – The being said that, but it sounded like he boasted about his strength.

"Now, you'll also learn the unmatched sword technique of the Sun God, The Great Kang."
