The sun was beaming through the window the following morning, and as it lit up the room, I wasn't in the mood to get out of bed. I was still groggy, and my whole being begged for more sleep. I tried as I did to go back to sleep, but nothing worked. Instead, I lay staring at the ceiling with thoughts of how and what I would need to do for my body to turn into a Gulon. As I watched Hera sleep, his hand thrown over the side of the bed and his snoring reaching my ears, he didn't seem even slightly perturbed by the sunlight that had spread across the room and had woken me up.
I slipped quietly from the bed and walked across to my old room. I entered the room and saw that Charles had visited, and lying on my bed was a single red rose and some food. I smiled at the thought and gesture. I held the rose in my hands, sniffed its soft scent, and captured Charles's scent. I thought of him as I wished things could be different.
