They continue walking until they suddenly see a white-haired boy waiting in line at one of the booths a few meters ahead of them.
"Markus, what are you doing here?" Caden looked at the line of people who looked like snakes. "What are they all waiting for?"
"Oh, this is one of my favorite snacks." Markus rubbed his palms together. "Grilled sandwiches with special sauce and melted cheese that everyone can't resist." Markus gulped down the saliva in his throat. "Oh, I like this sandwich."
Markus' words manage to persuade Caden and Bradley to join the queue even though the queue is getting longer. Fortunately, after waiting quite a long, they finally get the food and it's so delicious as Markus said.
The trio goes around trying every food stand available from snacks to heavy meals. After eating almost everything there, they decided to sit on a park chair there.
"So, Markus have you been to Mirland before?" Bradley furrowed his brows as he clutched his favorite hot chocolate drink.
"I've only been there once when I was a kid," Markus said while chewing a snack. "However, my father said it is a terrible place to live."
"What do you mean by saying it?" Caden is getting more and more curious about Bradley's words.
"There are monsters like night catchers, bandits, and some evil organizations that roam freely without pressure."
"So, isn't there some kind of specialized group to eradicate that?" Bradley turned his head to Markus.
"There is, but the number of groups is very small and there is no way they can handle everything."
Bradley just sighs at Markus' brief explanation. It seems like he should think twice about going to Mirland, but if he doesn't go, the possibility of being cured is vanishing. Suddenly, the decorative lights dim several times, making Markus feel strange. He quickly asks Bradley and Caden to find his father to ask him about it.
"Dad, there's a problem with the lights." Markus runs to his father. "The lights shut off several times."
"There seems to be a problem with the transformer. I'll call the officer over there."
Mr. George pulls out a cell phone from his pants pocket and makes a call. But no one picked up his phone.
"Strange, why isn't anyone picking up my phone?" Mr. George's brows slowly creased on his forehead. "Someone should check on the situation there."
Mr. George originally plans to go there by himself, but he must accompany the mayor of Rosalin. Markus quickly volunteers himself and agreed to check on the situation together with Caden and Bradley.
"Alright, the location of the transformer is in front of the roller coaster ride. It's quite a distance away and I think you guys better ride the buggy cars next to the resort." Mr. George patted Caden and Bradley on the shoulder. "You two please take care of Markus. He will do some careless things."
"Hey Dad, I can hear you." Markus raised his eyebrows and looked into his father's face. "I'm not a kid anymore."
Mr. George chuckles seeing the expression on his son's face and strokes Markus' head gently. The three of them quickly grab one of the buggy cars in the parking lot and head to the location.
It is so quiet along the way that the sound of the wind is audible to Bradley's ears. The cold air pierced the surface of his skin, causing Bradley to shiver occasionally.
"Looks like it's going to rain soon." Caden looked up and sees that the sky seems to be getting darker. "Markus, hurry up."
"It's already reaching maximum speed." Markus kept his feet on the gas as he gazes ahead at the road.
Suddenly, something passed in front of them, causing Markus to immediately hit the brakes deeply.
"Markus, what happened?" Caden's face instantly turned tense. "We almost got hurt."
"I see something over there." Markus swallowed his saliva and slowly pointed his index finger forward.
"I don't see anything at all." Caden turned his head in all directions. "It's just us here, Markus."
"God, I'm not lying!" Markus tried to be sure of his words. "I swear, I saw something over there!"
"Hey, calm down you two." Bradey tried to calm them both down. "We now focus on the location before the rain gets heavier, ok?"
They both nod and continue their journey until they finally reach the location.
"Weird, where is everyone?" Markus scratched his head and moved his eyes around. "I'll check around the roller coaster ride, you guys try checking around here."
Markus runs without listening to Bradley and Caden's words first. Markus immediately runs without listening to Bradley and Caden's words first. They both shake their heads and decide to look around, but there is no one in sight. Caden squints his eyes and accidentally notices something on the ground lying not far from their position.
"Brad, I have seen something." Caden tapped Brad on the shoulder and pointed his index finger forward. "Over there, you see, right?"
Bradley squinted his eyes and indeed saw something there until he decided to walk closer to the object.
"A flashlight?" Bradley picked up the flashlight lying on the ground and examined it. "This could belong to one of these officers."
"Brad, the lens is broken. "Caden picked up the flashlight and examined it. "Hey, but it might still work.
Caden taps the flashlight repeatedly until it gives off its light. They decide to go back around the area around the transformer but there is nothing suspicious there.
"Weird, where is everyone." Caden pointed the flashlight forward. "There's no one here either."
"We should go into the transformer area and see if there's anyone in there."
They decided to go into the transformer area, but it turns out to be locked from the inside. Caden tries to hold onto the lock but the gap between wires is quite small and does not allow anyone to touch the lock.
"Ok, now what do we do?"
"I'm confused too, Cad." Bradley sighed and scratched his head. "Hey, what happens to your face?" He wrinkled his brow and looked at Caden's expression.
"Brad, there is something behind you." Caden dilated his eyes at the sight. "I-I'm not lying." Caden's voice sounded shaky with a paled face.
"Cad, what are you talking about?" Bradley slowly moved his eyes according to Caden's direction.
Bradley's face turns pale as he feels someone stand behind him and holds his shoulder. His heart beats faster, his fingertips are cold and then he slowly turns his head.
"Who are you?"
A tall man with a thin mustache above his lips makes him instantly freezes for a moment.
