The prospective students all stood in one area, divided mostly between the cities they were recruited from, but even they were subdivided between people that were obviously familiar with each other. Shallow and sparse chatter could be heard throughout this crowd. When Isla and Sila arrived, they only drew a small amount of attention due to the fact that they were twins, but soon everyone went back to their original conversations.
Some of those that were eyeing them were obviously a little smarter. They knew that just because they were recruited didn't mean they would become rich and famous. Only the best of the best commoners had been recruited previously, so even if they were a large group, it didn't mean they'd all have equal resources.
Seeing as they were just two young girls, most of those people brushed them off, not thinking that they were any threat, but some weren't so sure.
The twins accepted their gazes, whether suspicious or otherwise, without any change of expression. It could be said that Isla and Sila weren't interested in how strong these people were. Mainly because the two of them had no intention of making names for themselves. Their original intention was to find a teacher, who could show them how to use their strength and abilities the most efficiently.
Isla found a place for her and Sila to sit down. She looked at Sila before saying, "I wanted to ask you when we woke up, but do you feel any differences in your body?"
Sila thought about it, and hesitantly replied "I feel a little strange, like a rock stuck somewhere in my body. Although it doesn't hurt, and it doesn't affect my movements, it still makes me a little irritated".
"I'm the same. Seeing as it only appeared after that strange aura overpowered us, it's hard to believe that the two are not related" Isla summed up.
"That's true, unfortunately there's probably no way to do anything about it right now" Sila agreed with a frown.
Isla raised her hand, rubbing Sila's eyebrow, "Don't frown. Whatever it is, we'll figure out later. Since it hasn't harmed us, there's no need to worry about what we can't control".
Sila followed Isla's words and relaxed. All of this fell into the eyes of Baldwin, who like Delia had been interested in the two of them. He was a moody and lustful person, which is why he intended to attract Lucy. There was no other reason, except for some fun. But the two sisters were different, he knew they were talents that he wanted to use. However up to now he hasn't had a chance to get close to them. He also doesn't dare to be too blatant. Those girls were already gold rank. Although it was nothing compared to those powerful monsters in the capital, but the gold rank was enough to be recruited into the academy guard, or the royal knights.
Some people spend their whole lives and only manage to get to the Gold rank, but they have done it at just 17 years old, and to do it without a teacher shows how important that near perfect affinity is.
Watching their actions however, made him feel suspicious. He had enjoyed the pleasure of women since he was just a teenager. Even with his precarious status against his eldest brother, he was still part of the Retwick family, which gave him enough advantages to be favoured by countless women. He knew what an affectionate woman looked like and how he could use them to his advantage, but he didn't expect to notice those looks to be directed towards each other.
A wretched smile adorned his originally pale and gloomy face. It seems he found out a very interesting little secret. Since he came to that conclusion, he wasn't in any rush to contact them. Especially since his power was located in the capital, he wouldn't be stupid enough to rush to make enemies when he was mostly defenceless.
Lucy had been watching Baldwin's actions. She had been chatting with him on and off during the trip from Rusvil to Etrida. So seeing him staring in the direction of those twins, she felt a wave of jealousy go through her, 'Why is it always them? ' she thought with resentment, 'Why are they always getting in my way?'.
To say she was enamoured with Baldwin, was obviously untrue. She may not have been born in the most noble city, but she grew up wealthy in Rusvil. She knew early on how heartless men were. Her father alone had countless women in his mansion. Her mother was his main wife, which allowed her greater favour, but in her father's eyes, she would never amount to even one of his sons. Now she finally had a chance to grab ahold of a backing in the capital, but these twins keep jumping out and getting in her way. Whether it was purposeful or not, didn't matter. She just needed them to disappear from her sight.
However she knew she wasn't a match for even one of them, let alone the two together, so she could only wait for an opportunity.
The senior students ended their discussion, agreeing on a course of action. Going further towards the capital they explained that the recruited students needed to follow their orders completely. Even if the academy had sent ample guards and some much stronger escorts. The closer they got to the capital, the deeper they were in the Rind forest.
The academy seemed to have great hopes for these talents, which is why they sent two Platinum rank teachers. One rank higher than Delia, one was a magician, the other a warrior. The magician was a seemingly young, but very beautiful woman, named Eris . However no one dared to blaspheme her. The shocking majesty she brought was enough of a deterrent.
The other was as expected, a hulking brute of a man, named Regis. With a scruffy beard and countless scars, a great sword hanging on his waist, as if it was a regular sized weapon. No one would even dare to speak out of line when in front of him.
Standing next to Eris, Regis looked like a giant, but he didn't even dare speak loudly when facing the beautiful sorceress. What was even more surprising to the recruited students, was that the two of them were actually married, and it seemed Eris was the one that called the shots.
