Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

He conjured up more wind blades to attack in tandem with the two warriors, but he didn't forget to focus on the missing twin. His eyes inspecting the surroundings for any sudden movements.

Isla was suffering at the hands of the two warriors, adding onto that the constant sharp wind blades, cuts kept appearing on her exposed skin. After being trapped by the attacks she couldn't escape into the brush. She was starting to get irritated by the constant attacks, until suddenly an arrow flew at the warrior blocking her from the brush.

Seeing the warrior block, Sila rushed forward with her dagger drawn and stabbed into the joint gap in the warriors leg armour, puncturing into his knee.

A bellow came from the warrior as he was forced to kneel, his eyes red with rage. Sila grabbed her sister and they rushed back into the brush, unfortunately not before the magician let out his prepared spell.

Another wind blade shot out, only this time it wasn't random, it seemed to have locked on to the sisters, and as they disappeared into the brush, a sound of flesh being torn came.

Sila looked at Isla who had just pushed her out of the way, in disbelief. A gaping wound through her shoulder. She quickly caught her sister, gritting her teeth so as not to let out their positions.

At that moment, she truly hated those people. When she was injured, she counted it as her carelessness, but how dare they hurt Isla.

"It's alright, we need to calm ourselves" Isla said, her face already pale.

"What do we do? That magician is too difficult to deal with. Should we just run?" Sila asked worriedly.

"They won't let us go. Even if we leave now, they'll definitely hunt us down the next time we're alone. Seeing as they're so used to doing these things, it must be because the adventurers guild has chosen to turn a blind eye to their actions" Isla guessed.

"Then what should we do? I should've crippled one of the warriors, but who knows if he can handle that injury or not" Sila asked in frustration.

"When I attacked that magician head on, I cracked his barrier. I don't know how many more times we would have to hit it for it to break, but without the magician, the warriors won't be able to trouble us" Isla explained with a serious expression.

"Alright, then let's hurry up. Your injuries need to be tended to" Sila spoke.

'Acting as if you aren't injured', Isla thought rolled her eyes, feeling much warmer thanks to her sister's care.

The two didn't have time to care about tactics with the magician, they attacked from two directions, avoiding the uninjured warrior while frequently hitting the barrier.

The magician understood their intentions and started using his wind blades again, but this time the twins didn't avoid, just choosing to minimise the damage to themselves and constantly attacking the barrier.

After a while, the cracks reached the point where the barrier finally shattered, the two sped towards the magician while the warriors tried to stop them.

The magician tried to remain calm, pulling out a talisman. This was his treasure. A teleportation talisman he had happened across in a ruin he had explored long ago. This was his greatest safety measure, he didn't expect to have to use it today, but it seems that he'll have to. He quickly added his magic to power the talisman, and the space began to warp around him.

The twins seemed to know what he wanted to do, and quickly flung their daggers into the space, cutting off the hand holding the talisman.

After the space returned to normal, there was screams coming from the magician, who was wailing on the ground, clenching the bloody stub where his hand used to be.

Isla and Sila stabbed at him simultaneously, ending the screaming magicians life.

The warriors were indeed much easier to deal with afterwards. They cut into the gaps of the armour, directly paralysing the warriors, before also taking their lives.

When the battle was finally over, the two couldn't even stand, sitting down to rest and try to regain their energy.

"Let's check what they have. Maybe they've got something to deal with our injuries". Sila said with exhaustion.

"Okay, we should hurry up as well. It seems this battle took quite a while. It looks like late afternoon already" Isla agreed.

The two rummaged through the corpses, finding some herbs and pills. However when they got to the magician, they found a ring on his remaining hand. After taking it off, they were ecstatic to find that it was a small storage ring. Apparently the better the equipment, the bigger the space. This probably only had the space of a room available.

The two looked at each other with glee, and threw all the supplies they found in, including the five horned rabbits, the weapons and armour of the group. Looking at their new fortune, the two quickly figured out which of the pills were for healing, and took them.

Watching the injuries heal in front of their eyes was miraculous. It showed them that their understanding was truly lacking. The best proof was the magician. He caused them the greatest damage in this fight, and knowing that Rusvil was just a border city. He would only be a low level magician at best.

The two knew they weren't nearly strong enough to deal with the most powerful ones that resided in the capital. This revelation made them a bit melancholy, but they hastily snapped out of it. They had plenty of time to get stronger, they didn't need to rush to the capital so quickly. So the two regained their spirits and headed out of the forest. No one bothered them on their walk out, seeing the damage and blood on their armour, they guessed that the two girls probably suffered quite a loss in the forest.

The people in the guild hall at this time included those that saw them in the morning. Seeing their dishevelled looks, they were about it start mocking them, but the two went straight to the counter and took out the five horned rabbits and the task paper.

The guild hall grew silent, but not because of the horned rabbits, but because of the storage ring on one of the twins hands.

"Doesn't that belong to.."
