Chapter 10 - A new commission

The total exchange for killing all those rats was barely 20 silver coins. With this much money, survival wasn't difficult, but growing strong sure was.

He looked at his wristband with a side smile. Not that he was not expecting it, but Aryan came to the conclusion that even after unlocking 100 points in magic and receiving an adventure ID of his own, he still wanted to be able to use magic.

'In order to use magic, I need to learn magic control, then gain an elemental affinity, and then again learn elemental control.' Aryan was wildly scratching his head. With each passing time, he was growing impatient with being able to use magic and summon some spells.

In this world, there are very limited ways of learning magic from the basics. Unlike inherited skills or passive skills, for anyone to use magic, they need to have very good control over the magic in their bodies.

Only after learning to control magical energy through one's body could one step further to gain a magical affinity and finally start learning spells in the affinity. There were two ways Aryan could do so:

One was to find a teacher or mentor who would teach him magic, teach him magic control, and help him practice spells. This method was faster and more convenient, plus the risks of demaging one's internal organs while controlling magic were ever lesser.

The second option was to buy books on magic control and learn to do the above things without any guidance. This method was very slow and sometimes ineffective, but this one was the only thing Aryan could afford.

'Even if I want to go along with the first method, there aren't really any people who would like to teach me magic. Not to mention, my budget is not even enough to buy books, let alone a tutor.' Aryan sat across a bench, thinking about possibilities, but everything ultimately led him to only one conclusion.

"I need to make lots and lots of money, that too, fast." He concluded with determination etched on his face before he stood up and searched the questbord in order to find something he could do.

After what took him around an hour, he finally found something he could do with his current skills and abilities.

On the poster, the job post was about mining some magic crystals for a certain guild found on the 17th floor of the dungeon. The qualifications for jobs were very minimal, and pay grades were quite high, so Aryan decided to give it some thought.

"If everything goes right, then I will get around 16 to 18 silver coins for 5 days of work on the 17th floor of the dungeon. I can only hope for good from here and on." Aryan sighed before heading in the direction of the clan stated in the poster.

When he reached the said location, he saw a golden-white mansion with a red design and transparent glass, making it appear majestic.

"State your ID and purpose before entering." The guard stopped him at the front gate.

Aryan touched the back of his left hand on the scanner as he stated his purpose. The guard then looked at a hologram screen next to his desk and allowed him to enter.

It didn't take Aryan very long to find the counter, as he submitted his request to a receptionist.

"Thank you for coming, sir. As you have read in your message, we are going to the dungeon's 17th floor to mine some magic crystals." The receptionist informed him, as soon as he entered the room, "Don't worry about safety; our clan is strong enough to protect you all; we are just lacking sufficient manpower."

"You will get 12 silver coins for a 3-day job, which is a very handsome amount considering the risk. Food, tools, and services will all be handled by us; it's a win-win situation." The man at the counter said it with a smile.

"So would you like to join us, sir?"

Aryan was left dazed, as he didn't get the chance to ask or speak anything, and all his questions were already answered: 12 silver was a good amount; he might be able to buy a lower skill book with it if he adjusted his expenditure for a week.

'But to go down the floor without even a magic skill, if something unexpected happens, will he be able to survive?' Aryan questioned himself.

Looking at Aryan in deep thought, the man on the counter stated with a smile, "I see you must be worried about your safety, but don't worry, we aren't doing it for the first time. You can always check our record in the Adventurer Guild. We will also be sending six level 25 or above adventurers with you. Even if the boss monster appeared on the floor, it would be overkill. So what will you decide, sir?"

Aryan sighed internally. His questions were answered again, without asking anything.

Aryan thought of registering, but before he could say anything, the recipient was interested again.

"Alright, sir, I will register you in; please scan your crest on the scanner." The recipient said, again, that this time Aryan was taken aback.

He stood there, signing the minimal paperwork, and then he looked back at the man to ask something.

"Tomorrow evening, sir. We will leave for the dungeon at 4 in the evening. Please make sure to arrive on time. "The man on the counter smiled as he gave Aryan a small card.

This time, Aryan was just stunned, like a statue. 'He can read the mind, or what?' He thought internally.

"No, sir, I can't read your mind. I am just predicting your questions by looking at your expressions." The man said again, handing over an ID card to Aryan.

'Alright, Th-"Aryan was about to say,

"You are most welcome, sir," the recipient said with a smile.
