Chapter 2 - Admission Test

Looking around the room, my heart began to beat faster, my thoughts flying at a thousand per hour. All I could think was, "Where am I?" I didn't know that place, and the things inside the room were not mine. The curtains were brown, and the furniture only confirmed that I was not at home. It was all very strange and the feeling of displacement was very real. It was the first time I had ever felt this way, and I didn't know how to deal with it.

I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. I was feeling lost, not knowing where I was. So I decided to open the windows and see what was outside. When I did, I looked out and was surprised by the city I saw. The buildings had futuristic lines and polished metal walls, with neon lights illuminating the cyberpunk scene. I didn't know where I was, but it was surprisingly exciting.

After I saw that cyberpunk city, I realized that I was no longer in the same place I knew. Everything looked so different, with its large futuristic structures, its advanced technology, and neon fluorescent lights all around. I felt like I had been taken to another dimension because it was not the world I knew.

The first question I asked myself was: Why am I here? As far as I remember, I didn't die, right? Wrong!

Suddenly, dense insecurity darkened my eyes. It was not as if I was dreaming, but more like a real movie inside my head. I saw myself inside a car, accelerating at full speed toward disaster. We competed with a rival who, in his anger and out of control, ended up hitting the back of my car, and caused me to flip over. Everything in my life flashed by, everything I had not done, the things I had no remorse for not doing, and, above all, everything I would do differently if I had more time. It was then that my life ended in one moment.

I came back to reality, having lived through that terrible flashback again. I fell to the ground, panting, with the feeling of death clutching at my chest. I felt my heart beating a thousand times, my lungs swollen, and the feeling of breathlessness overpowering me. I saw the outlines of my existence crumbling, but I turned myself up again. I took a breath and breathed in life.

"Fuck!" I shouted angrily when I knew I died. I loved to read, it was my hobby, but my job was driving cars. So when suddenly life was over and everything was gone, the only thing I felt was frustration, as if everything I accomplished in life was meaningless. As if I had lived for nothing.

I need to walk and drink water to get the frustration out of my heart. It is one of my daily habits, which helps me get rid of my problems and allows me to relax. Well, I venture to say that if I didn't do this, my heart would not be so light.

I got up and walked to what appeared to be the kitchen. As I was on my way to the kitchen, I saw a huge mirror that reflected my body.

"Who am I?" I muttered shocked to see my appearance, for my features are beautiful, I had beautiful black hair and blue eyes, that seemed to reflect the ocean.

My hands were shaking and my heart was beating fast as I looked at that face I didn't know. I wondered who I was, the intangible who lay inside me. I my image in the mirror lost in the darkness that hovered in my room. That downcast, tired, disillusioned face was asking me, "Who am I?" And I didn't know the answer. I didn't know what I am or what I was looking for. I only knew that my heart was full of doubts and that I was unable to discover my identity.

Suddenly I heard the door open and looked to see what was happening. To my surprise, a woman entered the room. My curiosity drove me to find out who she was and what she wanted. I was electrified when I realized that I was about to discover something incredible!

The woman who appeared to be a secretary looked at me professionally and said, "Your father, Mr. Lothbrok, is expecting you." I felt a little perplexed and with a familiar feeling, it was as if I had heard that name before, but still, I went ahead to meet him.

We both took an elevator and went to the top floor. When the elevator door opened, there was only one door in front of us. I was confused and asked, "Is that where he is?"

Upon hearing my question, the secretary looked at me with disdain, and suddenly, she punched me in the stomach. The force of the blow was something surreal, the feeling was as if something had pierced my stomach. I collapsed to the ground groaning in pain and breathless.

"Speak with respect! Your father, the strongest lothbrok, is inside the office. Now go to him!" The secretary spoke those words coldly. It was as if I had coldly disrespected him.

Even though I was feeling short of breath and in pain, I stood up and went to the door to enter. As I entered, I noticed the presence of a man. The man was looking out the window at the buildings outside, at which point he turned to me and spoke coldly in a professional tone, "Sit down." Of course, I felt obliged to obey.

After sitting down, I looked at the man who was the strongest Lothbrok and noticed his appearance: His age was somewhere between 30 and 60 years. He possessed a well-groomed beard that enhanced his handsome features. His hair was black and slightly wavy, and his eyes were similar to mine, blue like the ocean. He wore an elegant suit that emphasized his posture.

Without wasting any time, Mr. Lothbrok went straight to the point and communicated: "The entrance exam for the world's leading hero academy will take place tomorrow and you will enter, understand? Should you fail, know that you will cease to be a Lothbrok."

Without waiting for an answer, he continued, "You will take part in the exam tomorrow and you will have to go through several challenges. You will need energy and concentration to pass all the tests. Are you ready for this? Are you ready to become a hero and enter the greatest academy in the world?"

I was surprised to hear such words and began to wonder a few things. Then I asked cautiously, to make sure I was wrong, "What is the name of this academy again?"

Without hesitation, he replied, "The academy is known as the 'Battle Academy'. Inside, you will find the best trainers to prepare you for the test. It is not easy, but I believe you have the potential to pass, after all, you are my son. But should you fail, know that the consequences will be devastating, Edward lothbrok."

After hearing those words, a strange feeling began to invade me, and I suddenly stopped to wonder if I was really into this novel called 'Battle Academy'. Fear took over me, not because I was inside a novel, but because I was Edward lothbrok, a weak and pathetic boy who is going to be murdered in the entrance test of the biggest academy in the world!
