Chapter 53 - Punishment

A few weeks later

Galan was sitting in front of Nikolai, who was on the ground saying "Boss! I will take after her!" Baby5 was chained up next to him as he lowered his head with one knee on the ground. Galan had his arms crossed as he looked up at the rest, saying "Nothing from you all?"

Lilica, Ryuga, and Bolin were silent.

Galan looked at Ryuga, who hesitated before saying "Boss, this girl is really just innocent. She'll do whatever you want if you say you need her to do it. They were forcing her to clean everything… We were on that ship for a week and 4 days, not a moment where she wasn't cleaning."

Galan closed his eyes and said "She wasn't a target. She wasn't part of the Mission." Ryuga was silent and Nikolai stayed silent.

Olvia noticed there wasn't any of the previous strangeness, now every single one of them were scared to move an inch.

Rosinante looked at Baby5 and said "Fleet Admiral…" Galan held up his hand and said "This is why we have missions. This is why we have plans. You don't go out of the plan's scope because of variables. The plan was to frame an underground organization. And now that's in jeopardy because of your actions."

He snorted and opened his eyes, "First part of the Plan, have the Marines cut off his paths after finding out about Vergo's status. Make him think that we know more than he does. Second part, give him an inkling of someone else targeting him. If he suspects Marines to be behind both, do you know what happens?"

He pointed at Baby5 and looked at Nikolai, explaining "Because you went and saved the girl, potentially Dressrosa and all its people are in danger. We lose time to extract Dressrosa civilians and Royal family. We lose time because of one girl who was a pirate in the first place."

He frowned and pulled up Sugar, chained up next to him, "You're lucky you accomplished the mission or I would permanently retire you!" Nikolai looked up and Galan snorted "You're delegated to the Dirt Trench, get out of my sight. Yero will replace you."

Nikolai asked "The girl-" Galan frowned and said "The girl will stay here. Enough. Are you happy now? I lose a competent soldier for nothing. Get out." before turning to the rest, saying "Return to your original posts." as he threw Baby5 at Rosinante before dragging Sugar with him into the house.

The 4 looked at each other in dismay.

Olvia smiled slightly and said "He's not angry, just disappointed. You did well. All of you." before walking into the house by herself. Rosinante nodded at them and walked into the house too as they left.

Bolin smacked Nikolai and cursed, "Why did you go and do that for?!" Nikolai rubbed his head and muttered "It was the right thing to do!" Ryuga sighed and shook his head, saying "I told you. If you would've just asked, Boss would've come up with another plan to take her away. Why didn't you listen? You also showed them your Devil Fruit! What if they make connections?"

Nikolai sighed and replied "I didn't think of that. She was like me when I was young…" everyone fell silent at that, they all had problems. You couldn't blame him for feeling that way, he did a good thing but he disobeyed orders to do so. He wasn't punished too harshly, just moved to another unit.

The three others didn't even know if they would be used for the next mission anymore. This was a big hit to their track record… The Boss could accept failure. He could accept retreat. But he never accepted disobedience. No matter the reason.

The other three didn't find it to be so absurd either.

However, if Galan told them to go and massacre an island, then they would have a problem. But the disobedience in this case could potentially harm many people, not just themselves, because they didn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

They worked with the boss for a long time.

Bolin for the longest. He had seen Galan rush into a den of pirates and underground figures. There were at least a few hundred of them and when he came out, there was no one left inside.

Galan was covered in blood and wounds of all kinds, but he was still alive. So Bolin knew best what kind of person Galan was. He always told the new guys about these stories, mainly because worrying about your life during the moment would cause unwanted variables.

Therefore, every member of Galan's teams knew that their life didn't matter.

Only Justice mattered.
