Chapter 57 - Perfect opportunity

Galan returned to Marineford and went to his office, pulling records before finding Strawberry's. He looked at it for a moment before going through his troops, collecting them from G-2 enlistment files.

Turns out it was under Borsalino's watch.

He frowned, in his mind Borsalinos was more of a neutral party. Didn't kill pirates, rarely took initiative… Very lazy, relied too much on his Devil Fruit powers.

Galan frowned at Borsalino's file. He was too lazy. The power of his fruit was astonishing but he basically didn't get stronger, just mulling about and cashing paychecks. He wished he could take back the fruit and give it to someone who was willing to put in the effort.

Galan didn't have a high opinion on Devil Fruits but he couldn't deny the power that they granted. The problem was people usually relied too much on them as shown with Borsalino.

However, Kuzan also had this problem. The only difference was that he trained his fruit. While Borsalino did nothing and Sakazuki trained both like a maniac.

Galan put Kuzan's file on the table and labeled it as Admiral potential. Perhaps if Kuzan worked a little harder, he could become an Admiral. Borsalino was on the chopping block and Sakazuki was barred…

Of course, that could change. If Sakazuki made huge merits then Galan didn't have a choice but to promote him. Otherwise it would seem like he was targeting him… He was, but nobody else needed to know.

Speaking of Sakazuki, Galan received the report of what happened.

Turns out Sakazuki received massive casualties and lost an arm before Doflamingo escaped, however out of the 9 cadres, 3 were killed.

Buffalo, Lao G, and Diamante.

However, Sakazuki's forces lost too many troops, so the overall mission was a failure, therefore not receiving any merits. He basically got away with a handful of troops.

But!

Galan was the big winner, all of Sakazuki's troops were blacklisted Marines. Not a single one of them were good people. Greedy and Dirty Marines. Coincidentally, this was a perfect opportunity!

Galan made the order after a bit of thought, Rear Admiral Strawberry and the 'heroes' who took down Fisher Tiger were to be transferred to Sakazuki's fleet. He added that the Marines wouldn't take Doflamingo's actions lying down and ordered Sakazuki to eradicate the Donquixote Pirates without mercy.

This was after much deliberation, as much as it pained Galan, he needed to give Doflamingo a bit of time to breathe. So he only made the order when Strawberry and his troops returned to Marineford, purposely sending them out immediately.

All of the Marines that left were on the black list and Galan didn't care what happened to them.

Obviously, this move made the Marines' blood boil! Their Fleet Admiral was taking revenge for their fallen comrades!

Olvia was shopping and overheard these conversations before shaking her head. She found it amazing how one man could have the entire Marine force wrapped around his finger like this.

The only person who wasn't happy was Borsalino, who complained that he had too much work to do now… Galan fixed his problem by sending him to train with Zephyr every day until he collapsed.

Borsalino started singing a different tune and said how it was so great that he could work like this, but the order was given. He was now a training puppy.

But he wasn't alone, Galan sent Kuzan with him as company, telling Zephyr behind their backs that if the two of them started working a bit harder they would be Admirals. However, he focused more on Kuzan. If Borsalino changed then that would be good, but he didn't expect much from him.

Zephyr chuckled and put the two through intensive training…

Galan also came to find out that Doll was at the top of her class in the special training unit. Possessing strength above Vice-Admiral but not quite Admiral. He decided to leave her there for a while longer before sending her out to a Marine Base in the New World.

His daughter was strong enough to hold her own and she was drilled into continuing to train. Unless Kaido and Big Mom specifically went after her she would be fine. This was real life, he couldn't have a strong marine sitting in Marineford doing nothing.

Plus, did his daughter need protection? Not with the training she had. Not to mention, she wouldn't have second rate trash in her Base.

Probably in a few years, he would send her to the G-14 Base near Wano. Of course, monitoring her was a certainty. All of the people in her base would be his people, not these weak Marines…

Galan was extremely disgusted with the Marines he had now. Everyday he would feel this. They were meant to protect the people, now cower at the sight of these so-called Emperors.

It was a big joke!

They shouldn't be scared of pirates, it should be the other way around.

He sighed to himself and forgot about this, until he cleansed the Marines this would always be a problem. Not something that could be changed in one day. He was making strides to work on this and it had been 10 years, but that was just how deep the corruption was.

The corrupt Marines pulled in more and then grew out of proportions like this. The worst part was Galan couldn't kill them. He couldn't kill them even if he had proof of their crimes because it would lower the morale of his troops and make them lose faith in him.

If you kill someone you have to do it secretly and silently, it doesn't matter if they become martyrs afterwards. They have a family? They should've thought about them before they decided to commit evil.

Killing innocent people is never excusable. What did an innocent person do to deserve it? You killed innocent people for your family? Please.

Family was an excuse for these disgusting pigs to justify their actions. And Galan had a no tolerance policy. Hence the constant feeding of Marines to extremely dangerous areas.

This world was extremely big, there were always places that Marines could never go. Galan simply pushed them into a fire and watched them burn, he had no psychological burden…

People die everyday, why not make it bad people?

And if a member of the special training unit committed evil after getting power?

They were executed on the spot.

The Special Training Units weren't for the evil, it was for those who had justice in their hearts.

Galan didn't even blink, who knows how many Marines have died since he became Fleet Admiral? But there was more than enough funneling in every day to balance them out.

He finished writing in his notebook and closed it before going home.

Vegapunk was doing his demonstration tomorrow. After that he needed Galan's blood and to check on Sugar. Galan had already figured out what to do with Baby5.

He would simply add her to SWORD, keep her with Rosinante. This was the best choice and the only option she had. Mostly because Olvia was working with her to heal her neediness while also teaching both her and Sugar.

There's been progress already.

Baby5 told Olvia her real name, it was Maria.

Olvia treated the girls as though they were her own daughters, praising them, scolding them, teaching them, etc.

Galan didn't interact with them much. He only trained Maria along with Rosinante and Olvia while Sugar watched and ate grapes.

The days weren't too hectic, Sugar was very quiet and shy while Maria was outgoing and flirtatious, it added a bit of color to Galan's, otherwise gray, house. Much to the indifference of Galan, who didn't actually care at all.

The only thing that could make him agitated was Olvia.

He arrived at him to see Olvia reading a book on the couch with Sugar on her lap and Maria on the side. Galan turned his head to see Rosinante outside continuing to train, before turning back to Olvia as he walked over.

Sugar and Maria trembled as they looked up at him. Olvia smiled, "Welcome home." Galan frowned and said "Go read in the bedroom." she rolled her eyes and retorted "I'm reading here." to which Galan picked her up by the back of her shirt and tossed her onto the couch chair by the side.

He looked down at Maria, who shivered and quickly left the couch, scrambling to the side as Galan took off his suit shirt, laying down on the couch topless, facing the backrest.

He crossed his arms and closed his eyes, going to sleep.

Olvia shifted and Sugar hid in her embrace, tearing up. Olvia stroked her hair, cooing gently "It's okay, sweetheart. He won't hurt you. You don't have to be scared." Maria wiped her sweat, muttering "He's so scary… Much scarier than Doflamingo!" Olvia rolled her eyes and pulled her over, smiling "He's a very kind person, don't be fooled by him. Trust me. I've been living here for 10 years."

Sugar and Maria looked at Galan, muttering "Is that true?" Olvia laughed softly, smiling gently as she replied "Of course, why would I lie to you?" as she stroked their cheeks with one hand each, adding "He's very gentle in secret, don't let anyone know, 'kay?" as she held a finger over her lips and winked with a smirk.

Sugar and Maria nodded, getting closer to Olvia and smiling "Can we finish?" Olvia nodded gently "Of course." as she started reading again.

Galan stared at the backrest with an annoyed face before closing his eyes again.

This irritating woman needs to get out of his house…
