The next morning, Ryker left the inn. As he went outside, he could hear the people gossiping about 'his show'. While he wanted them to forget it as soon as possible, it was likely hard to achieve as what happened was surprising.
From when he was able to beat the group of 50 elites, to the city lord restraining and later proclaiming the crime of the Itol Family, to when he finished the last of the Itol Family members.
With what he did, the rumors regarding him also spread, most of them outlandish claims like the one where he was actually a spirit formed from the people wronged by the Itol Family and one that said he is actually a secret agent of the city lord himself.
He did not try to quell the rumors as any attempt to do so would just create even more rumors so he didn't even bother. The worst-case scenario for him would be when his lovers and siblings learned of the rumors, which he guessed would happen by the end of the day. After all, he had allowed them to leave the inn after almost a week.
Currently, his destination is the mansion belonging to the city lord himself. The reason is to claim what was owed. After all, the man promised to give him three treasures from the treasury along with a large amount of resources for what he did.
It took him an hour to reach the mansion, not being able to fly inside the city is a reasonable though troublesome rule. He reached the gate of the estate before showing the token given to him by the city lord yesterday.
The guard let him pass, though not before telling him to wait until a guard arrived to lead him to the house. This makes sense as the huge estate would have made it easy to get lost in it if not for the huge landmark that is the house of the city lord.
Still, he accepted the guide as there is likely an area where people are prohibited from entering. The guard led him to the mansion before excusing himself. The servant in front let him in soon anyway.
Once inside, he couldn't help but compare it to Hal's Mansion, which isn't fair as one is a Great Family in a Barony while the other is a City Lord of a Duchy. Still, the size of the mansion is a lot bigger than what the Hals have.
Before he could take a closer look, a servant told him that the city lord had been waiting for him. Not wanting the person he had been waiting for to wait for him any longer, he headed towards the man's office, the servant showing him the way less he got lost inside the mansion.
When they reached the city lord's office, the servant opened the door and motioned for him to enter. He accepted the invitation readily, entering the office.
Once again, he couldn't help but compare it to what the Hal's Family office. Though it's more about how similar it is this time. With the exception of the size of said office, most of the things are the same.
The man he had been hoping to see was busy signing some documents, likely the result of the show he had performed yesterday. After all, the consequences of uprooting a Family who controls the entirety of the arena would lead to some sort of vacuum, with some powers and factions in the city vying for the chance to take over the arena.
However, he didn't care for the politics of the city, as he came only for the things that were promised to him. The city lord sensed his presence, not to mention the servants likely told about his arrival with a communication token.
"Welcome, you come for the treasure, I suppose," the city lord asked.
"Yes, is there any other reason for me coming to your estate, my lord?" he replied. His replies may seem cold but he isn't close to the man at all, hence him asking why he would even come to him in the first place.
"True, as agreed, you can grab three treasures from the treasury though I had decided to keep the more precious one in another place for now," to be honest, Ryker had expected this, after all, the man was close enough to become a Genesis Sea expert so he naturally want to keep the treasures with the highest chances in helping him ascend to the next major realm.
Besides, he didn't mind as he only took advantage of the fact he helped the man uproot a corrupt force in his city. If the city lord didn't want to give him any treasure he couldn't do anything about it so he accepted what was given.
The man leads him to a set of stairs, where they descend towards the basements. When they reached the basement, they walked through a huge hallway, where they arrived at a wall. The city lord took out a token, which emitted a strange light, resulting in the wall turning into a huge metal vault door.
The fact he couldn't sense anything amiss told him the illusion formation was likely a Genesis Grade 7, maybe even Grade 8 Formation. He looked at the door when the man took out another token.
The token floated towards the door before entering a hole in the door. The door then opened, allowing him to see what was inside it. He really should stop comparing Hal's treasury with the city lord of Karbin City treasury but he didn't have any other comparison.
While the treasures inside Hal's treasury emit some aura, it couldn't be compared to what he currently feeling. The sheer aura from the treasures inside could even be felt without him getting any closer.
This shows how precious each one is and how powerful they are. And now he is given a chance to pick one. He controls himself, not wanting to break the image the man in front of him had about him.
He bowed slightly before entering, the man's hand already told him enough. Once inside, he was able to see the assortment of treasures inside. While he wanted to take a lot of them, he could only pick three.
So, he decided to pick the one that would help him achieve the Elementary Understanding of the different Paths he hadn't comprehended yet. He decided that if there were treasures related to it, he would try to comprehend the Law of Life and the Law of Light.
As for the last one, well, that is up to fate
