Chapter 2 - Chapter one

She sat down on the departmental triangle hoping that Caparo will give her a lift home as usual. She had seen him upstairs where he told her to wait for him while he gets his phone from the departmental canteen. Deborah was tired and hungry, she longed to go home. And the excitement of eating her favorite dish ( porridge yam) made her impatient to go home. After waiting for more than 30 minutes, she decided to trek home. She made a mental note to call Caparo later.

She connected her headphone and played her favorite song "If you no love me" by Chike. Since it will take her about 30 minutes to get to her aunty's lodge in Roseline street, she thought music might help make the journey less tiring. As she walked, her mind was serious calculating how she would convince her parents to send her money. It has been a long time since they sent her money. She was still busy thinking when her eyes caught a flashy Red Lexus 350 and the man in the driver's seat was beckoning her to come. Her face twisted in surprise.

"What does he want from me?" she asked herself as she walked towards him.

" Hey, beautiful" the man smiled at her.

Deborah couldn't help but notice how handsome the man was. His well-chiseled jaw highlighted his pair of brown eyes and pointed nose. He was indeed like a movie star.

The man was also captivated by her unique looks. He has been seeing her around for weeks but hasn't been opportune to ask her out. So, when he saw her, he was moved to talk to her. Both were engrossed in checking each other out. The man cleared his throat and Deborah was forced back to reality.

" I am Dave Benson. What's your sweet name" Dave asked extending his hands for a shake.

" I am Deborah Black," she said as she shook his hands which were big and firm.

" So much my type," Deborah said to herself.

" Nice name for a pretty girl," Dave said smiling. Deborah's heart skip a beat. This was the first time she was nervous in front of a guy.

" I will like us to keep in touch. Hope you don't mind?" Dave asked praying she says agrees.

"No I don't mind but my phone is currently out of battery " Deborah answered.

" No problem, just give me your contact. I will call you later when I am free." Dave said

"Okay," Deborah said and gave him her contact.

" Alright Debby, I will give you a call later. I would have loved to give you a lift home but I have urgent work to be done. So I will check on you later via call or What's app. " Dave said

" Ok, I will be on my way now," Deborah said and bade home bye as she continued her trekking. Dave watch her residing figure, he grinned widely and drove off.

When Deborah got home, she quickly power her phone, expecting his call. At the moment food was no longer her only expectation. She was giggling like a high school girl who has seen her crush.

" He is so handsome and rich" Deborah smiled looking at her slim figure in the mirror. At first, she was worried that she was too slim to have attracted him. But the fact that he still talked to her meant he wasn't bothered about her figure or he liked slim girls.

Deborah has not been lucky when it comes to relationships. Her Ex-boyfriend, who was her secondary school sweetheart and they dated for 2 years before he disappeared. Up till now, Deborah felt that that relationship was a one-sided love and she resented herself for wasting two years on someone who didn't love her the same way she loved him. But she was lucky they never had sex.

" Why am I even thinking about that idiot" Deborah scolded herself. She went into the kitchen and dished food for herself. The joy of eating her favorite thrilled her and she was satisfied.
