"Please, Damian, eat slowly," Elara gently reminded him as she watched him wolfing down his food.
But Damian was too excited to listen. "I'm full," he declared, standing up from the table. "I'm going to meet Kaelen now."
Elara sighed, knowing it was pointless to argue with him when he was in such a hurry. "Just be careful ," she said with a smile.
Damian nodded and rushed out the door.
As the sun had already risen, Damian stepped out of his house only to find Kaelen waiting for him. Together, they walked towards the river. However, their peaceful walk was interrupted by the sight of burnt grass and destroyed ground.
"What in the hell is that?" Kaelen exclaimed, his attention immediately drawn to the damage.
"Who the fuck did this? This is our resting area!" he continued, cursing under his breath.
"It was me," Damian replied, his voice barely above a whisper.
Kaelen turned to him, his mouth agape in shock. "Why?" he asked, his eyes scanning Damian's face for any hint of an explanation.
Damian slowly lifted his right hand, and as he did so, an orange and yellowish circle began to form on his palm. The flames within the circle flickered, their warm glow casting an ethereal light on Damian's face.
Without saying a word, Damian simply gestured towards the circle of fire, letting it speak for itself
As Damian held up his hand with the fiery magic circle, Kaelen's eyes widened in astonishment. "How?" he asked incredulously.
Damian motioned for Kaelen to sit down as they moved away from the burnt grass. Once they were seated, Damian recounted his experience with the mana crystal and how it had given him the ability to use fire magic.
"That crystal was actually a mana crystal," Kaelen interjected, looking pensive. "This is really weird. You gained the water element when you ate the water mana crystal, and now you have the fire element from the fire crystal. It's almost as if the crystal is imbuing you with magical abilities."
Damian nodded, still processing the implications of what Kaelen was saying. "What does this mean for me?" he wondered aloud.
"Can I use another element?" Damian asked, eager to try out more magic.
Kaelen shrugged. "Who knows? You're a pretty weird guy, so maybe you might be able to."
Kaelen said as he stood up and looked at Damian expectantly. "Normally, a person is born with a certain element, but who knows what will happen with you."
As Kaelen suddenly stood up, an idea sparked in his mind. "Why don't you try using another element right now?" he suggested with an excited expression on his face.
Damian rose to his feet, his expression determined as he lifted his right hand into the air. "Let's give it a shot," he said, and began to concentrate, repeating "wind" under his breath. But no matter how hard he tried, nothing happened. Frustrated, he lowered his arm and turned to Kaelen, shaking his head.
Kaelen's eyes widened in excitement as he exclaimed, "Well, this just might prove my hypothesis about the magic crystals! In the future, you could potentially get the wind element from a magic crystal too! And if that's the case, then the possibilities are endless! You could get any element you desire, as long as you have the corresponding magic crystal!"
He paused for a moment, pondering the endless possibilities. A big grin spread across his face as he continued, "Imagine the power you could possess with all the elements at your fingertips! You could become the ultimate elemental master!".
"Oh, well, I totally forgot to tell you that my mom actually gave me permission to leave the island," Damian interjected.
"Well then, we just need to wait for the ship to arrive in a month, and then we're out," Kaelen replied.
Kaelen and Damian were both filled with excitement, the breeze adding to their anticipation of what awaited them beyond this Island.
