Chapter 1 - ۞ I ۞

MY RELATIONSHIP WITH MY FAMILY IS... WELL, IT ISN'T. Period. I have four siblings, three man, one woman, all older than me, each one a year apart from one another, while I'm four years younger than the fourth son. Five in total.

Aaron, Beatrice, Cameron, Dean, and Elizabeth-Freya. Yes, to top it all, I'm the only one with a compound name, and it's such an exquisite name at that. All because they always wanted six children, but after me the doctor told mom she couldn't bear more, so she gave me two names, so to finish the six first letters of the alphabet.

Ridiculous. That's how I always felt.

Our parents, Gabrielle and Harry Van den Hoek, end the line with the 7th and 8th letter of the alphabet. Cringe is the word for this.

And while my siblings were born in 1993, 1994, 1995 and 1996, I was born in 2000. Again, setting me apart from them since they were born in the 20th century and I came to life in the first year of the 21st.

No. It doesn't end there.

Somehow, through some strange miracle, mother managed to have Aaron in January, Beatrice in February, Cameron in March, Dean in April, whereas I came in... November. Oh, and mom's birthday is in May, and dad's on June. So, yes, I'm really the ugly duckling.

Speaking of an ugly duckling, all of them look alike, with our dad's golden straight hair and mom's light green eyes and thin lips, giving them a fancy look. Not me, of course, because I'm the weirdo. I took mom's black wavy hair, and our paternal grandfather's dark blue eyes and dad's full heart-shaped lips.

I used to ask myself almost every day, why did I have to be so fucking weird? Did God do this to punish me?

Oh, ha... There's more.

They are all right-handed, why I'm a left-handed. All of them have a mole on the neck they took from dad, while mine is under my left eye and I took from our maternal grandmother. They all have tanned skin, from dad, while I'm pale like mom.

There's also the height difference, while they are all above 5'7, with sister being 5'8, and the boys being all around 6'2, I'm stuck at 5'5, which it seems like I took from our paternal grandmother. Just like I took my hourglass body shape and my big boobs from her, because mom is a triangle-shape and has small boobs, but at least I inherited her ass and so did everyone else in the family.

Mom's has the body similar to... Dove Cameron I would say. My sister looks very similar to her for an instance, so it'll be easier for you to imagine.

Both our parents and my four siblings all went to Oxford, and so did my paternal and maternal grandparents. But I went to the MIT on the United States, just to stay away from them. It's hard to explain my degree, so I'll just tell you that I can do what Tony Stark, the Iron Man, can. The difference is that I'm definitely not a billionaire.

Just like Tony Stark, I was a genius and was able to go to college sooner than anyone in my family, since all of them went around 18. I went there at 15, to study electrical engineering and later I got my Master degrees in electrical engineering and physics. But most people don't understand the degree I have, so I usually just ask them if they know who Tony Stark is, and tell them I do what he does, minus the billions of dollars in my bank account.

I got back to England a year ago though, after I turned 24, but instead of moving to London again, I decided to live in Birmingham. Another difference between me and my family, but I just couldn't live with them anymore, not with how they always treated me like an outcast.

Besides, I'm 24, come on. I'm not like my siblings, blood suckers who live with our parents until now and feed on their money. They are rich, but since mom and dad always spent their money on the four of them being shamelessly biased to them, I was thrown aside. At least both my grandparents love me, and I'm their favorite, which caused lots of fights between my parents and them.

It's not like I don't love them, because I do. I just can't take their bullshit.

One more off point. While we are all extroverts, mother and Bea are both ENFP, dad and Dean are ESFP, Aaron and Cam are ESFJ. Most of them, unhealthy. While I'm an ESTP.

As I'm 24 at moment, my siblings are 28, 29, 30, and 31, respectively. Yes, can you believe a 30 and a 31-year-old still living with their parents? How shameless.

Yeah, they are very rich as I said, but still. Especially when out of the four of us, I'm the only one single. Hah, there you go, another difference. I've never dated, whereas they all did and are all in serious relationships at the moment.

So, yes, our parents house is huge and they all live there with their partners. Partners that aren't big fans of me, as expected.

Aaron is married to Iris (ISFJ), whom he met back in high school, and they have a couple of twins together, Alicia and Bruno, both 3 years old now. Beatrice is also married, but to Jon-Jon-François (INFP), yes, that's my brother-in-law's name and I make fun of it every time I see the arrogant asshole, they met in college and have a boy together, August, who's 2 years old.

Cameron is married to Katherine (ISTP), she's his first and only girlfriend and they have been together since the last year of middle school, very annoying. She's my favorite sister-in-law even though I'm not hers, and they have four kids together. The triples, Amelia, Brandon, and Clarice, who are 3 years old, and Dominic, who's 2 years old.

Lastly, there's Dean, he used to be my favorite sibling until I left to go to college at 15, and then got married to the Queen Bee of school who used to bully me, which weakened all the care I had for him. Marie-Estella (extremely unhealthy ENFJ) is three years younger than him and a year older than me, and they worked together on the same company while she was an intern. They got married two years ago, and I refused to come to the marriage, and for obvious reasons she's the sibling-in-law I despise the most.

The two have two twin boys, Anthony and Benedict, which she named after the first two brothers of the Bridgertons Netflix series, since she's dumb and don't read books. My nephews are both a year old, the youngest in the family.

Thankfully, all of my nephew and nieces love me, opposite to their parents, since every time I come to visit in London, I bring lots of presents and I give them sweets. It must be good for them, being raised together with their siblings and cousins. They must be having a lively childhood.

As you can tell, all of my siblings followed our parents ridiculous tradition of naming kids in alphabetical order. Very cringe. If one they I have kids, I'll name them all with the letter Z, if it's a girl it'll be Zara, and if it's a boy it'll be Zayn. No alphabetical order for me.
