Chapter 12 - Chapter XII ۞ Thays ۞ Part I

Thays Emmanuelle Rossetti's point of view

۞۞۞۞۞

THE PET SHOP SAID THAT LION WOULD be home around 12pm, and I almost forgot about my baby with all that happened. As the walking annoyance siting down in my kitchen had never been inside my apartment, he probably never met Lion, my big black fat cat. And when I heard the door bell ranging when the clock was marking 11:57, I ran to the front of my apartment, picking one of the black shirts on the ground and dressing it quickly.

As I ran to open the door, the rich scent of Aaron's fragrance, which he uses since I met him and is very strong, hit my nostrils, making me realize I mistook his shirt for mine, since they were both big and black. But ignoring that, I welcomed Meghan, the vet who always takes care of Lion, and has a big fat crush on me (which is the reason why I quickly dressed the shirt), and always makes me uncomfortable.

"Hi, neném, are you back?" I took him from her arms carefully, since he's the size of a 1-year-old toddler, and really fat. "Did they care good care of you? Did you miss mamãe?" He didn't say anything, since he isn't the noisy type, and only pressed the top of his head on my cheek, as a yes. "Thank you, again, for taking care of Lion, Meghan."

She gave me a flirty grin, "It was pleasure, Emmanuelle."

"Thays, please," I asked again, as I always do. "Thays feels better."

"But everyone calls you that," she complained, as she always does and I sighed.

"That's precisely why it's better!" I exclaimed calmly. "I've paid already, right?" A nod. "Good. Now, I have some things to do."

Meghan held the door, "If you need company-"

Santo Deus, I'm about to tell her to fuck off. She's getting on my last nerves already. "Oh, you don't have to worry. I'm with my boyfriend," the lie escaped from my lips faster than I could control it and I cursed myself right away.

Her light blue eyes widened, "Boyfriend?"

"Yes."

"You are with a boyfriend?" What's with that tone?

Sighing, I clenched my jaw, "Darling, come here, please."

As he was probably listening to everything as he always do, he walked near me, in all his shirtless grace, and paused his big hand on my shoulder. "Who's this?" He asked, staring at Meghan.

Her face was priceless, and she seemed really annoyed. "I'm her-"

"She's a veterinarian. And she's leaving," I glared at her. "Aren't you leaving, Meghan?"

"What's your name?" She had the audacity to ask him, with her eyebrows raised.

"I'm Manu's boyfriend and neighbor. And also the owner of the building. Why?" His voice was calm, but that was something else in it.

Her blue eyes went from him to me, she clenched her jaw, and turned around. Closing the door behind her without another word. Then I locked it, and when I was sure the elevator had left the floor, I let out a deep sigh of relief.

When I looked up, he was still glaring at where she had left. "What was that? You sounded bothered by her presence."

"That's because I am. She's overbearing and always steps out of line. Insists in trying to get intimate with me and always makes me uncomfortable. Flirting with me shamelessly every time I go to the pet shop. Even though I tell her to stop, she keeps calling me Emmanuelle, just because she once heard my mom calling me that on the phone," I hugged Lion tight on my chest. "Sorry for using you to make her back off."

With his jaw clenched, he turned his fiery amber eyes to me, "I'm using you to make my family and my mom get off my toes, so I don't mind. I hate people like this girl, they are the worst." When his eyes finally descended to Lion, he jumped away from me, "What is this thing?"

I quickly managed to cover Lion's ears with my hand. "Maldito, don't call him that. He's not a thing. And he'll get upset if you say that. His name is Lion, and he's my cat."

"Since when do you have a cat?"

"Since three years ago. He's castrated, so he just stays inside here, usually sleeping. Why? You don't like cats?"

He growled, "They don't like me!"

Scoffing, I turned around, "I don't like you either, that means we have something in common. And there's no need to be scared, Lion is a quiet and kind cat. Vaccinated, before you ask."

"Wait- is that my shirt?" Oh.

"Sim. I accidentally took it thinking it was mine, because I didn't want Meghan to see me just in the gym top. It happened uma vez, so I know for sure that it would be uncomfortable." I went behind the couch, where Lion's little bed was, and put him down. When I got up, he was still staring at the sight of me with his shirt.

"This… cat's fur doesn't fall, doesn't it?"

Rolling my eyes, I glared at him, "Your paranoid ass doesn't need to worry, idiota. Lion's healthy and his fur doesn't fall. But if that's your problem, I can wash the shirt before I give it back to you." Then took it off again, folding it and putting it over the couch, "Better?" I asked sarcastically.

"Hm. I didn't mentioned it before, but those tattoos look good on you," his deep raspy voice sounded behind me, while I walked inside the kitchen again.

I thought he wasn't going to say a word about it, even though I did felt his eyes on them. "They do, don't they? Obrigada. I know. Yours do too. I also had no idea you had any besides the one around your neck. Do you have more?"

He grinned, "Maybe. Do you?"

"Maybe." I motioned to his sandwich, "You should eat while it's still warm," then I took another bite, purposely dirtying the sides of my mouth with the sauce, just because I know it makes him cringe.

"Or you have no manner, or you are doing this purposely to get on my nerves," he muttered annoyed.

"Don't worry, I'll be very mannered while around the Vaughn-Solomon family. The rumors say they are very classy, so I'll be I'm my best behavior," I took another long sip of my juice. "I won't embarrass you, on that."

As I kept the smug on, he shrugged, "That doesn't sound good," I'm just messing around though.

"It's too late to back away, you will have to bear with it. Now, back to my allergies," I changed the subject permanently, not really wanting to talk about all of my tattoos. Especially not the one in my cleavage. "I'm allergic to sea food as well, although it started when I was around 7 years old and out of nowhere. So much that before I used to eat sea food and I loved shrimp and fried octopus, but now I can't even bear the smell of it."

"Weird."

It is indeed. "Yeah. My mom took me to her hospital and they confirmed I had involved an allergy to sea food, and they said that happened quite often with kids. But anyways, it was quite the bad experience," I took one more bite of my food, taking my time to eat it. "It happened on nonna Catarina's birthday, so it caused a commotion and since then, every single year, she calls me on her birthday to make sure I'm alright and far away from any food that could take me to the hospital again."

"And that all happened when you were seven?" A nod. "Jesus, it must have been horrible," and then he started laughing.

I'll repeat. He started laughing. "…"

"I can't help but imagine your face all swollen and chubby because of it," and he's still laughing.
