The stories about Mama's kindness and open heart were pretty much as normal as the sun rising in the east for me. The woman had a heart of gold and by this point, half if not more of the street kids in Dogman district has benefited from her kind heart in one way or the other. And this was something that has been going on for decades.
I had no idea who this man was, but he seemed very willing to cut me some slack. And when he said let's talk business, it seemed he was willing to at least be honest on some level with me. These cards were useless to me, if I could not find a way to make them valuable to me, then all I just went through would have really been for nothing, regardless of the risk.
"A rare card normally goes for 10 thousand gold for combat card, 8 thousand for augmentative cards, 5 thousand for utility cards, and 15 thousand for summoning cards. Since we're not exactly what you would call an official channel, we'll buy all the cards you have to sell at 65% the market price, normally it's 50% but I'm doing you a favor today since you showed a backbone as opposed to the other ass kissers."
Mayuri snickered behind the man, as The man cleared his throat, shutting Mayuri up suddenly. The deal was fair, as far as being able to sell the cards in my hands go, this was the best deal for me. I might be loosing some money in the process, but whatever I gain from it would be enough to at least improve our state of living or do some much needed renovation work on the restaurant.
The rare cards that I have with me was everything except of course for [Infusion] and [Barrier Mastery] the latter card I was hoping to save for my next deck, which means I was only here with four rare cards and two epic cards.
The epic cards with me were [Silver Iron Frame] and [Geo-Gravitic Cannon] the remaining rare for sale were the [Magma Larvae], [Oscillating Fist], [Accelerate]
1 Rare summon card, 1 Rare combat card, and 1 Rare augmentative card. 1 epic grade Combat card and 1 epic grade augmentative card.
"As for the epic grade, we will take one of it as was agreed as an entrance fee. The second one we will but from you, since it's an elite Grade the policy for those is 75% the market price. But in the end it still depends on the type of card. Augmentative cards costs a 100 thousand, Combat Cards of the epic grade goes for a 150 thousand. Utility goes for 80k and summoning's are a good 200k"
It took me a moment to calculate everything and all of the total came up to 207 thousand Gold. That was a lot more money than I have ever seen in my entire life.
My grandmother's vaccine was 3million gold. I was no where close, but there was a chance. Besides just joining a gang would not be enough.
If I'm lucky and I can get a pass into any of the six dungeons within the city, I can get more cards to sell. But above all this would now give me a chance to make some investments, perhaps there was other ways to make money.
But ultimately I still had to minus the gangs entry fee. So I removed 75 thousand and handed over the [Silver Iron Frame] Epic card. Bringing everything gained down to 132 thousand Gold, and like it or not, that was still a lot of money.
"I see you have ran the calculations, that's good. If you can wait around the head would have someone deliver the money to your bank account. You can get the confirmation before you do anything else. But with that out of the way, I bid you a warm welcome to the Silver What gang Ade.
My name is Scorpion, Inspector of Blocks, M,N,O,P,Q and R. That means all the six block heads of those blocks answer to me and me alone. For now though the only mission I have for you is for you to prepare for your college entrance examination, did you not graduate two months ago?"
I was stumped, what the fuck is this guy talking about. I'm here to join a gang, what does being in a gang have to do with going to school. He could see the confusion in my Face, but it did not look like he was ready to explain anything until I answered his questions.
"Yes I graduated 2 months ago, but I dropped out, I have to-"
"The college entrance test is in 4 months. Last I heard you graduated not just the top in your class, but the top in the entire city. You were given a scholarship to study in the only university in the city, and you turned it down. The silver Wyatt Gang is not like your typical gangs.
You want to increase your value, to give yourself more opportunities and avenues to make money, then this is the way. Go get an education and a seat at the table of the influential, which is what I…..what the gang wants. I've had my eye on you for a while Ade, after all I know your family. This would be a chance for you to mingle with the next generations of gang and corporation leaders for Mormon city.
More things get decided there, in that university, by the next generation than by the old fogeys that still rule. Go get connections and climb up the ranks as you need to. But regardless before then you still have a chance to do the same for me. And as it so turns out, I have a mission for you."
It was weird, it seemed to me that things were moving a little too fast and a little too suddenly. Whether or not I'll go to school that was up to me, and I honestly did not give a shit. But a mission all of a sudden was weird, I was suspicious, it was not as if I could say no. Besides the night is still young, if I leave here I wouldn't have anything else to do so perhaps this is for the best.
"Since you're new to the gang your face is not really known, I want you to go retrieve a package for me from this address. Its within Dodson territory, but you're new blood so there shouldn't be any problems. Any questions?" he asked me with a smile on his face while Mayuri looked like things could not be any better for him.
"What if there are problems?" I asked as I looked at the address and at the same time felt a vibration from my phone. Pulling it out and checking it was a credit alert for a 132 thousand Gold, my heart skipped a beat for a moment, before I raised my head to look back up at Scorpion.
"If there's a problem then, there's only three choices you have. Take care of it, run...or Die!"
