"The boundaries which divide Life from Death are at best shadowy and vague. Who shall say where the one ends, and where the other begins?"
- Edgar Allan Poe
Once I was back into my room, making sure to hide my clothes under my mattress, the cloak had turned transparent now. When I'd wear it, it was black because I wanted it to be, when I wouldn't wear it, it would just turn transparent,
But now we had another problem, I am on my periods so I'm weaker to poisons now, and I had a drop in my blood,
I had slit my wrist to let out the poison from
my body as quick as possible, I had then proceeded to drink the antidote, it should work fine but for the time being I needed to rest for it to work,
As quick as I could, I had texted Evander to let him know I'm not going to be able to make it to training for a week as I had came down with a terrible cold which had left my body paralyzed,
In my defense, I was exaggerating but I needed to,
"Text this number, please"
My head tilted to the side, I instantly clicked on the number and texted it,
"Here, I texted the number"
My eyebrows furrowed
"I really don't have time for this Evander"
My eyes widened as I read the next text,
"My love, we are sorry for resorting to tricking you into talking to us, please, talk to us, what have we done? We promise that we will explain and make it up to you, anything you want, your wish is my command, my precious"
I sighed, I felt bad, but there was no way I was going to meet up with him after what just happened, not to mention the periods too,
"I'm sorry, Cian. Please give me some time, I need to take time off work as well, I wouldn't want you catching the cold from me, you're a king, give me one week, and I'll come back, I'm counting this on my other sick days, thank you"
As I had sent him the text, I face palmed myself hard as I remembered that werewolves don't even catch colds, I quickly rushed to answer his other texts,
"I wouldn't have the heart to avoid you, so I will tell you that it is not you, it's something about me and I can't talk about it, you've been terrific so far, you haven't done anything wrong :)"
Now that I sent that message, it just looks creepy with the smile, I was horrible at texting others and normally I was socially awkward too unless it came to something that I held close to me, I was quiet all the time.
A message from Evander popped up on my phone and it read,
"King Cian snatched my phone with the meanest glare he ever had after I told him you can't come out for a week"
Oh so that was Cian, I chuckled as I replied,
"I'm sorry for his behavior, he is the king you can't say anything ;)"
I rolled my eyes at my own teasing towards Evander, he was probably shaken too,
I received another message from Cian,
"We are always here for you, my queen, demand it and you will get it in less than seconds at your door, we promise you won't even have to see us till you are ready"
I smiled at his reply, I didn't know what to say, it was so sweet, and I felt bad for him, but this has to be done if I want to keep my identity a secret and recover at the same time,
Now that I had the time, I could finally rest,
After another stretch, I made my way to shower, I let the water run down on me, the warm water relaxing my aching muscles, I had started getting really bad chills and shivers, so I quickly finished with my shower to go back to bed, after I had changed, I had heard a huge bang and a shriek outside of my window,
A scowl had made its way on my face as I approached my window, opening the curtains again, I had found out there was an owl distressed while the small version of the owl had landed right on my windowsill, panic coursed through my veins, if anyone knew me deep down, they would know an animal is my Achilles heel,
As quick as I could, I cupped the baby owl in my palms gently, the mother had shrieked as she charged at me for her baby,
I couldn't let either the distressed mother and the baby owl go, so i had to show her that I mean no harm,
She had charged into my room, now I had closed the window to let her calm down and get familiar with the room, she wasn't in the best shape and as I inspected the baby, it was badly hurt.
I found some salt and water on my table and I quickly had mixed it, while the mother had watched me very closely as I worked, she looked threatened but the more I had tended to her baby, the more visibly she was relaxing,
The baby owl's chest had been busted with the impact it seems, and I quickly put the solution on it,
The baby hissed in pain as the mother had shrieked loudly at hearing her baby's pained noise,
I scowled as I quickly decided to call Cian,
I needed them to see a vet as soon as possible and I was going to look after them for as long as possible then let them go back into the wild if they wanted to,
From the first ring, Cian had picked up right away,
"My love"
His voice sounded relieved,
And I tried my best to not let my voice break,
"C-Cian there is a hurt baby owl and its mother in my room, I know it's not right to be asked this of the king, but I really need a vet as soon as possible, the baby's bleeding, I really need a veterinarian to come into my room and take care of them, I will be keeping them for a while with me as well"
As I finished, out of breath from the panic that had rushed in, Cian had softly whispered,
"Expect us, my queen"
