Chapter 33 - Soul Terrifying Beast

Happy new month and happy Easter Monday to those who celebrate!

Pax spent most of her time with Yhra who for some reason, was completely obsessed with the wolf.

Cloelia had not woken up yet which told her the extent of how severely she had tired herself in getting her to this camp.

Although Pax was greatful to the young shifter, she dearly regretted arriving there. If she had known that Zelda was the actual song and not perhaps Wara or Yhra, she would have strongly refused to go.

Yhra mostly ignored Pax which was fine by her. She knew who Yhra was after all.

On the other hand, Pax was worried and about a lot of different things. Zelda knew who she was, which was impossible, Wara had suddenly become violent again and Nak. He was not even supposed to be on this side of the veil.

She had mostly come here because she had to keep an eye on the boy and Wara. She could not even ask where the boy was since Wara was asleep and had tried to kill her before that.

She approached the tall man instead with red eyes. "Potion maker." She began, addressing him with an air of confidence that had suddenly summoned itself. "Why exactly do you know these women?"

It was a question that had been disturbing Pax. Why did he seem close to Yhra and Zelda? Wara was a completely different creature in her own way. Any sane person would avoid her. It took a lot of brainwashing and life endangering spells to live in the Āsimati village with little mishaps.

"Why do you want to know?" Sica shot back. "So far, every single person here has had one negative reaction to you or another. Wara tried to kill you, Nak did the same thing, Zelda wants to hurt you, Pax hisses at the sight of you and Fjammi would not even step five feet near you. Who are you?"

All these were quite the heavy accusations that had Pax sighing.

"I am someone who is not supposed to exist at this particular time. I cannot say more lest I ruin one more thing." Then she left.

She did not ask who Fjammi was, something told her that if she did, she would only bring harm to herself.

After Wara made that promise, she watched Zelda who suddenly stilled like she was worried.

Wara knew Zelda was not worried about her death threat, instead, something big must have happened.

"We need to leave, now!" Zelda screamed and as if it was a trigger, the ground began to tremble softly. Whatever was coming was still far away but Zelda was worried.

Sica, without asking any questions, smothered the fire and ran into the woods. Then he did something that surprised Wara. Within the blink of an eye, he had returned with a very confused Nak.

Wara could sense it was not magic that had granted Sica the speed he had harnessed, it felt completely natural which begged the question, what exactly was Sica? She witnessed him turn into a terrifying creature which tried to suck her blood once. If not that her blood seemed either poisonous or repulsive to him and the strange vision she had seen, Wara knew he would have killed her.

She would have had time to ponder more on him if their mismatched group was not in a frenzied panic. Everything they had set up immediately vanished into a poof of smoke, faster that what Nak had done before which told Wara it was Zelda doing it.

She turned to stare at the woman in question and staggered back in severe shock.

'What? is that?' Wara screamed in her head.

In place of Zelda, was a terrifying beast. Except, beast was too kind of a word to describe the monstrosity that stood there.

It stood at about at least 10 feet tall, its head just shy of the tree tops, it stood on two feet, or were they paws? They were not quite clear but it was certain it had claws for hands. The claws on its arms streched towards Wara to pick her up and without waiting for her mind to process what response she should give, her feet began to carry her away from the scene with shocking speed.

Behind her was Pax running with a completely terrified look but she did not look surprised. Yhra was also running and so was Nak. Wara did not care to check who was following her but turned to see if the creature was following.

The scales on the creature rippled and her mind registered the horrifying face of the creature. 'No creature should look that terrifying.' Wara thought.

Its eyes was what had sent Wara running in the first place. It was pitch black with silver in its center which gave the illusion of two empty sockets containing tiny lights. Lights that had locked on to her form.

It had a human-like face with a large mouth that was permanently streched into a smile. It opened its mouth and Wara saw rows of sharp teeth that propelled her to run faster.

Despite the friendly color of silver scales, the deadly aura the beast omitted was soul terrifying...

Wara finally saw Sica who was running faster than possible but did not notice that she was subtly overtaking him.

The creature let out a terrifying roar that had all creatures running away from it, except one.

It suddenly began to following those who were running from it and suddenly there was a high pitched scream.

It was Cloelia who had woken up and saw the beast. Pax had no idea it was possible for wolves to scream but she did and suddenly, she was screaming too.

The creature had picked both of them up with its claws.

It kept picking others until only Wara was left. Then she heard a voice. "Let her pick you up! She is not the danger this time!" It was Fjammi who was sitting on one side of the shoulder.

Wara steeled her resolve and let the claw grab her to place her on the shoulder.

"Now what?" Pax said and suddenly, the creature was flying. The speed at which it moved was intense and then suddenly, the motion changed and it was diving.

Wara looked down and saw something quickly approaching them, a mass of liquid that had great masses of waves crashing against each other in a furious storm.

And they were approaching it with speed.

The creature was diving.

It was diving towards the sea.

As the large mass of water speedingly approached them, Wara for the first time began to scream.

"No no no no no!"

Before she could voice her complaint properly, they hit the water.
