There was no wound on her body and after confirming she was fine, all men sighed audibly making Sydney burst out laughing. "You guys are too much!!! Hahaha...." she laughed so hard that her stomach hurt. She had been on missions to different parts of the world for two years and although she wasn't among those that headed straight to battlefields, she had dealt with a number of notorious figures. But now that she had only been clumsy and stumbled, these men made it seem like she had taken a bullet! No one had been this concerned for her in a long time. "I only stumbled but you make it seem like I died! What will happen if I actually did?"
I won't let that happen!" Ken was the first to talk. His face was pale with fear. When he heard that Sydney had stumbled almost falling, he was sulking at the back of the house but that news sent his heart into chaos and his breathing became erratic and unsteady.
Don't say something like that!" Shawn was also not pleased with Sydney talking of death so casually.
Sydney was flabagastered seeing them over react and she looked at Caden and Ash in confusion.
I'll tell you about it another time. You should get something to eat now!" Caden spoke and stood up from where he sat. He looked at Sydney who was confused then at Ken who was breathing heavily. He sighed and disappeared into the kitchen.
Shawn also got up with the medicine and reluctantly returned it to it's original position the atmosphere in the house was odd! Caden spoke from the dinning room. 'Sydney, come and eat before the food goes cold!"
Hearing his voice, Sydney stood up to head to the dinning area but Ken abruptly held her hand. He was still seated on the carpeted floor but he wasn't looking at her. Surprised, Sydney looked at him with wide eyes.
Ash didn't linger around any longer and went to the dinning area knowing Ken's situation.
"What's the matter?!" Sydney asked but Ken remained silent. Sydney patiently waited for him to speak and after a few seconds, Ken's shaky voice reached her ears. " As long as I still live, I'll never let anything happen to you." he declared and raised his head to meet her eyes. " I'll protect you...I promise!" Sydney could see the determination in his eyes and the raw emotions that played there. She could tell he meant every word he said and this made a single ripple in her mind.
"I'll hold you accountable to your words then." Sydney smiled and attempted to pull her hand out of his hold but he refused to let go. She looked at him questioningly. He reluctantly let go and stood up to accompany her to food.
Sydney took her seat at the seat placed at the front of the dinning table only to notice that there was only food for her again. She looked up from her stone bowl and crossed her hands over her chest. "Where's your food?" she asked. "Don't tell me you are going to watch me eat!"
"We will eat!" Caden coaxed her.
"Well, then bring your food over so we can eat together!" Sydney insisted.
They all looked at themselves. Caden was the first to sigh helplessly and went to collect a bowl with a small portion of food and the others followed suit!
"Is that enough?!" she asked observing the food they had.
"We can do away with this." They had already had their food but it was raw meat that they ate. They didn't dare eat it before her since females hated males who ate raw meat. And they had specifically kept this soft meat portion for Sydney to eat to her fill.
She didn't pry further and went a head to eat her meal but she was sick of eating meat! It was cooked well yes but she had to dip it into salt then eat. The other available things she could survive on was water and fruits. She abruptly stopped eating. "I want to eat fish!" she said and stood up from the seat.
"Is there no other food aside from meat? She walked over to the store room and it was empty. There was only a skin bag and she walked over to check it. They were the fruits Ken had brought for her. She checked them and found lots of things, she picked up an apple and mulched on it. It was juicy and extremely tasty. She turned around to see that all her males were standing at the door way looking sorry!
"Why are you all looking like I'm scolding you! I've been eating meat since I came here and I just wanted a change of food."
"Tell us and we will get the food for you!" Shawn said and stepped forward.
"Let's do this together!" Sydney said and picked another apple and walked out of the store room. "Is there a lake around here?!....oh no wait!! I don't have fishing tools!" she let out a cry feeling bitter!
"Let's go! We can catch fish for you!" Ken said and shifted into his beast form and sat himself to the ground so that she could climb up.
Sydney looked at him surprised then looked at Shawn who said nothing but collected the animal skin bags from the shelves in the store room and went out. Sydney awkwardly walked over and sat in Ken's back. It was fluffy and warm and his coat was deep!
Caden and Ash said nothing and each picked an animal skin bag and walked out as well! Ken stood up and walked out to find the others waiting at the front yard in their beast forms. Without further ado, they left and headed east of the city where the nearest water body was. It took only a ten minutes run and they were already at the huge lake! The sun's reflection made the water clear.
"So this is the lake!" Sydney exclaimed happily and when Ken came to a stop, she didn't waste time and jumped off his back before she could lower himself to the ground. However instead of her feet landing on the ground, she found herself in Ash's arms and he had a reprimanding gaze on her. His emerald eyes were giving her a stern warning not to be reckless.
Sydney's excitement died down a bit and Ash placed her carefully on the ground. The others had already shifted back to their humans form but they were stark naked! Sydney shrieked and her hands flew to her eyes her face burning red! " Ahhhhhh!!!"
Hearing her shriek, Ken and Ash went on high alert but realised that the vicinity was clear! Thanks to Ash's presence, no animal dared to come close.. eve the fish they had come to fish hid away!
"What's wrong!!" Caden asked as he walked her way.
"Wear your skin skirts! Stop parading your..your....your....!" she stammered but couldn't get the words to leave her mouth.
All the males looked down at themselves only to see that they were naked. They laughed with their deep voices and immediately got their skin skirts on. "We not naked anymore...you can open your eyes now!" Caden said and walked over to her side. He pried her eyes open and looked down at her with a smirk.
Most females found it entertaining when men paraded themselves naked before females but they knew their female was different! She would burn red if they walked around naked.
Sydney glowered angrily at being laughed at and walked to the lake ignoring them! Ken hadn't gotten the chance to see this side of Sydney and it made his heart flutter. With her cheeks puffed up and her lips pouted with her red face. She was terribly aborable!!!
Sydney went to her knees and peeped into the lake to see if she could see some fish but there was nothing. "Is there any fish in this lake??" Sydney frowned a little. The lake was way too calm to have any fish!
