Chereads / Ascension of the Golden lord / Chapter 38 - Recuperation

Chapter 38 - Recuperation

Sitting in the mana pool with his back against the eggs, he let his body heal and recuperate the mana he just used.

His eyes were closed as he was looking inside himself, but that did nothing to hide the look of shock on his face.

"Holy shit, I didn't think it was that bad. If it wasn't for that gold skeleton I would be long dead."

He was very injured after the battle but he didn't come back empty handed. He was half way through the heart-lung stage meaning that he received enough damage to blow through the 3 stages before that.

"But that really was a good harvest, my strength increased by so much and I got so much more land to work with."

After everything was said and done his stats increased to 303, not as drastic as the 130 increase from before but he knew that it was going to get more and more difficult to increase his strength the further he went.

Absorbing all that soul power also increased the amount of land present in his soul sea. He liked the size of the first continent, so instead of increasing it even more, he collected the additional land into another one that was about half as big as it.

He planned to just increase the size of this one in the future so he made it very far away, to the point that even on the highest point of the first continent he couldn't see it.

Continuing to sit in the mana pool as he found it comfortable and increased his rate of absorption, he started to think about his next steps.

"I still want those flowers, but if it's too much of a hassle I don't want to waste my time with them. But first I need to figure out where they are going. From what I saw earlier, the carts are being pulled north west, which is roughly the direction of the desert."

He started to walk out of the pool and redress himself, the leather that the pants were made out of was surprisingly high quality and it was still fairly intact. Still no shirt, but he was grateful for what he had.

"Well I guess the first step is to follow them and see where they are going. I could intercept them, but I think that it would be a better idea to follow them. I doubt that the only thing that they would have would be the flowers. They clearly need them for something and I might as well get whatever else they collected."

He teleported back to the forest and looked around to see what he could salvage.

"Plus I'm interested in what's going on in that desert. It being so close to the forest doesn't make any sense, especially since it's such an abrupt cut off."

He collected every thing that he could find as all of it may become useful, especially the tools that the goblins were using to make the boxes as well as a few hundred of the boxes that had yet to be shipped and a few carts waiting to be loaded.

"Thankfully the battle happened away from these, otherwise they would have been long burnt down. Especially the carts, those seem way too useful."

In total he acquired a few hundred various weapons of various qualities that somehow weren't destroyed, some rudimentary tools, 347 of the 2 meter cubed boxes and 7 of the fairly large carts. He stored all of these on the other continent, he made it flat so that he wouldn't have to hassle with finding a place to put the things that he collected.

"How the hell were those little goblins pulling these carts, they were clearly made for a horse sized animal or two, maybe those chima." Thinking about the delicious ants his stomach started to grumble.

He pulled out a piece of meat and started to eat. "They didn't look that strong but maybe they are better at manual labor than combat. Also from what it looks like they didn't intend to replant the flowers."

He went through a few of the boxes and saw that all of the flowers were dismantled and properly separated. The flowers, leaves, stems, rots and even thorns were all stripped and separately packaged.

The boxes were surprisingly complex and each had various compartments built to hold the delicate flower pieces in place.

"That just confirms my suspicion, they are definitely using these flowers to make something and whatever that is I want it."

He was not above stealing and as far as he was concerned they stole from him first when they invaded the cavern and took all of the flowers.

The boxes he found were nowhere near the amount that they would have gotten from the other side of the mountain, meaning that most of them were already moved to the next destination.

Meat in hand he looked over in the direction of where he saw them going and then looked at the time on his PC, it was rated to take blows much stronger than what he went through so it was fine.

"Around noon, or the equivalent of it anyway. I'm still injured so I'll just go back and sleep some. But when I wake up I'll have to find something to eat. I am running out of chima meat and I don't know what plants are edible."

Remembering his special circumstance he corrected himself. "I don't know what plants taste good."

He teleported back to his soul sea after finishing the chima leg and quickly fell asleep in the pool of mana with the eggs, earlier he had connected the two smaller ones so that he had more space to lay down properly.

With his mind being at ease his rate of absorption increased and his capacity was growing more and more.

It was only a few hours later that he woke up, but didn't leave yet because he wanted to move at night. Whoever was running this operation would definitely notice the sudden stop in shipments and would investigate.

"But I doubt that they would stay even in the pitch black. And I want to hunt for something to eat, if I am correct then they would only come out at night."

As he had a rapid increase in mana in a short period of time he had to readjust to make sure that it was flowing smoothly.

While doing that he created a fireball and observed it, this was an attack that he created on the fly and there were definitely ways to improve on it.

The first thing that he did was make it spin, like rifling on a gun the spin would make it faster, more powerful, more stable, and more accurate.

Then he decreased the size, before changing his mind and instead thinned it out and made it longer.

Grasping the new weapon he swung it around and through it about the place to feel the weight and adjust its structure. He wasn't burned because he put a layer of mana on his arms. Something he thought would be difficult but was surprisingly easy.

Looking at the flaming javelin he was satisfied and dismissed it. The javelin would be much more deadly than the ball and it preserved the increasing size feature.

He made another one and changed the element to light, he controlled the intensity to not blind himself but he certainly wouldn't do that for his enemies.

He threw it into the distance and made it explode. The light was so intense that even after a few kilometers distance he still had to close his eyes.

Satisfied with his makeshift flash bang he tried to make another one with the water and while it worked he didn't see a reason to do it.

The only other element that he had some sense of familiarity with was metal so he tried to make another one using it and what happened shocked him.
