Chapter 44 - Butchering a Dragon 2

After a bit of work using mana he quickly stripped it of all of its scales, which there were about 150,000 of. Thankfully they were massive and fit into each other perfectly regardless of the slight variations in size so packing them away was easy.

Now he was left with the bare skin, while he didn't know how to make leather he was sure that it started with the skin of a beast. Making sure that he wasn't going to ruin it, he made an incision that ran from its head to its tail to peel its skin off.

Using mana this was easy and it was made even easier in his soul sea, his level of control was even greater here so stripping it took seconds.

He didn't want to leave it to dry out so before he folded the massive amounts of skin he wet every inch of it. It was too valuable to allow it to spoil and while it wouldn't rot here the water could certainly evaporate. To prevent this he braved the storm and put himself through the absolutely disgusting feeling of creating real water, thankfully it was getting easier and easier to do so.

Whether that's because he was getting better at it or just becoming numb to it he couldn't say.

He placed the skin next to the scales just to make sure that he wouldn't mix up any other skins or scales he would come across.

Now came the easy part. While there were some organs, there were a few that were missing but he wasn't surprised by this. Its digestive system didn't have any intestines and everything happened in the stomach. From breaking down, to absorption, to waste management, it all was contained in the same place.

Beasts and entities that had some form of a grasp on magic could easily turn the wastes that they couldn't digest into mana to be directly absorbed. Even he had to use the bathroom less and less everyday as not only was his body changing due to the Golden Body Refining Technique, but his mana capacity was rising every second.

Compared to before entering the New World, if his capacity was like a tea cup before then now it was like a small lake. That amount of mana always running through his veins was bound to have some sort of effect on his body, even if the effects were slow to show.

Since it lacked most of the normal amounts of entrails he simply removed the little that was there and was left with massive amounts of meat and bone.

Again using mana all of the meat was stripped and cut into large steaks, with the barebones left behind. Unlike the other few skeletons he had in his soul sea this was a normal white instead of a radiant blue, but this wasn't surprising to him.

Beasts like this don't consciously refine their bodies, meaning that the older they are the more refined it is and with it being practically a newborn it had little to no opportunity to refine its body to such an extent.

The two beasts that he found before being so blue either meant that they were very old, extremely intelligent or their masters refined their bodies for them.

What he was left with was about 700 tons of raw meat and after a little bit of consideration he decided to also eat the heart, lungs, liver and brain. All of these would give him a lot of essential nutrients that he was practically starving his body of. He had yet to figure out what plants would be a practical addition to his diet, and from experience he knew that a balanced diet could mean the difference between life and death.

He had nothing to do with the skeleton so following his previous design decision he wrapped it around one of the mountain on the main island. All in all he was satisfied with his gains from only one of the 4 that he had.

He really didn't want to imagine what he would have to do if he couldn't use his mana like he could.

"It would probably take me a few months to do something that took me a few hours at most. I'm really happy I didn't settle and form a mana core when I found it unsatisfactory." He looked over on his pc and saw that only 5 hours had passed, and the other 3 would certainly go by much faster since he now knew what he was doing.

"Unfortunately the others are still draining. The pools are half way filled up and they are showing no signs of stopping." He deepened the hole just to make sure that none would spill out. While he could recollect it if it did, that's a hassle that he had no reason to put on himself.

It had been almost a full new world day since he had last eaten, so he was naturally getting hungry. The trade off of having to eat so much more than normal for every sitting was that he didn't need to eat as often, otherwise every awakened would go bankrupt with food expenses alone.

"I wonder how dragon tastes. While this isn't exactly that, it's close enough and I am curious." He looked at how large he cut the meat up and realized that they were still unmanageable. Each piece weighed about 15 pounds and cooking something so thick was going to be troublesome.

"I don't even have any cooking equipment. With such valuable meat I wouldn't be caught dead roasting it over a fire like I was doing with the chimas."

He looked at his blade, and he found a solution to his problem, even if it was one that he didn't like.

"Better do it now and get it over with." Since he needed cooking tools and had the ability to create metal out of magic then he could naturally make his own, but the feeling of creating matter was still skin crawling so if he was going to do it then he was going to make sure he did it right.

The first thing that he decided was that straight iron wasn't going to cut it, he could always find a new weapon off of an enemy body but there was next to no chance that they were carrying half of their kitchen with them.

But, since he could only create pure iron with his current knowledge, he had to compromise. The only thing that he had that he could possibly alloy with the iron was the ground that he was walking on.

That's right, he was considering using the physical manifestation of his soul power to make more sturdy tools. If anyone that had any knowledge of soul power heard that they might collapse in shock, the soul power of an individual is usually extremely limited and having extra to make tools out of is almost always out of the question.

For most increasing soul power isn't as simple as absorbing it from fallen foes, there is usually a lengthy and tedious purification process that has to take place lest they risk corrupting their soul. Even then by the time it is fully purified a lot of the original value would have been dispersed.

But because of his talent he didn't have to do that, the constant purification of his body, mind and soul is more than enough to deal with any amounts of corruption that takes place when he absorbs soul power.

While it is a valuable resource to others, to him it was just something that he had an abundance of. The soil below his feet and the rocks below that were all made out of the stuff and a few utensils wasn't going to rock the boat.

Whether it be a liquid, solid or gas, any form of it that he wanted was at the tip of his fingers.

Next he decided what exactly he was going to create and after a bit of consideration he settled on: one chef's knife, 4 pots of various sizes, a pan, a knife and fork and a few plates.

This was going to be a lot for him since not only were they numerous, they were also intricate. He was going to have to meld both mana and soul power in controlled amounts in extremely specific ways and while he didn't think that it was going to have the same violent reaction as before he was sure that it wasn't going to be easy.

With his empty stomach pestering him he pushed past his anxiety and started to work.
