"Huh, maybe I'm not as smart as I thought I was." While on the outside Ray seemed almost dead, with only his slow breathing indicating that he was in fact not, on the inside he was very much conscious. So much so that even though he couldn't see outside he could hear everything.
"But this family seems very interesting, all of them are so strong. What did people call families like them? Legacies? That seems appropriate, only families with power and knowledge from centuries ago could have so many powerful members."
He looked around him to try to understand what he was seeing. Not long after the spell was finished, his consciousness was dragged into this space that seemed to always be inside of him. The place was pitch black, blacker than anything he had seen before.
When he looked up, there was nothing and when he looked down there was what looked like water, but no matter how hard he tried he couldn't get close to it. The black water, much like the fog a few hundred meters around him, seemed to move away from him when he got close.
In this place he appeared as a version of himself that was made of pure light, but was more neon than bright. When he looked at his arm it was transparent so he figured that he was a ghost or maybe his soul. Not dead but not far from it.
"I don't know what happened, but I'd like to know how to get out of here. And what are these two balls?" He was oddly calm about his current predicament but if there was one thing that he was familiar with, it was death. He had his first blood at 10 and from that point he had come to terms with the fact that someday someone would come along that he couldn't handle and it would be his turn.
He wouldn't welcome death but he wasn't going to act surprised if he had no choice but to embrace it.
In front of his ghost-like body, were two balls floating peacefully in his soul sea. He named this place that because his soul was there and below him was a sea. Not very creative but it fits the description.
One of the balls glowed a faint yellow and the other was pitch black, so black that it was invisible to him. If not for the strange energy coming from both of them he wouldn't be able to know that it was there. They were both the same size and gave off radically different energies.
"While the golden colored ball feels warm and welcoming, the black one feels cold and indifferent."
With nothing else to do he grabbed the golden ball to see if it could bring him any insights to his current predicament. The ball felt comfortable in his hand and fit perfectly, as if it was crafted for that purpose.
Other than the sense of comfort, the yellow ball didn't give him any new information so he let it go and grabbed to black one.
The moment his fingers touched the black orb, it felt like something was being sucked out of his 'body'. It wasn't mana, as he didn't have any in this form, but he didn't like the feeling of it leaving.
The sea below him started to surge, with massive waves forming on its once still surface and the fog started to rapidly get closer. His illuminate body was starting to lose its shine.
He could hear screaming coming from the outside world but was too focused to understand what was being said. The energy from his soul was drained so rapidly that he didn't have time to fully grasp what was going on, but before the waves engulfed him and the fog closed in on him, a sudden surge of energy entered his soul.
It was so much energy that the fog was pushed so far that he couldn't see it, and the sea returned to its calm state. The new energy seemed to surpass even the drain of the black orb.
It soon seemed satisfied with the amount of soul power that it absorbed and shot out of his hand and hovered above the ocean. He managed to hear "I think that should be en…" before once again feeling his soul power being rapidly drained.
The ocean once again surged but instead of random waves, streams of the black water formed and were pulled to a point far above his head. The excess soul power transferred to him from before was drained as a portal formed. The portal was circular and blacker than the darkness of his soul sea; if he could see when he finished casting the inventory spell then he would recognize it as the identical portals.
Before he could even think twice, random items, like clothes, toys, desks and chairs, home appliances, general rubble, and disturbingly a dead body flew out of the portal and got compacted into a disk of 200 meters with the black orb serving as the center . He saw his mask floating towards the orb so he quickly grabbed onto it as he watched the marvel take place in front of him, it cost him a lot and he didn't want to destroy it if he didn't have to.
But the most important thing that came out of the portal was copious amounts of mana. When the streams of mana and the streams of the black liquid met, instead of merging they started to repel each other before smashing back. Like they were attracted but had a barrier preventing them from mixing. They continued to do this a few times and every time he was overcome by a severe feeling of nausea that went away when the two streams were not in contact.
As he was not in the right mind to properly sense outside of him, he couldn't notice that every time a collision happened, a massive wave of both mana and soul power exploded out of his body. This dangerous mixture of energies vaporized anything within the 500 meters that wasn't absorbed by the portal, turning the rough and bumpy crater into a smooth one, like a bowl. If it wasn't for the strengths of the 3 supremacies, both Fey and John would have been turned into a blood mist.
"What happened to him? What is going on?" Fey was naturally panicked by what she was seeing, asking her parents and grandfather for an answer that they couldn't provide.
"I don't know but I'm getting him out of here." Her father hastily answered her as he opened a green portal to the new world in front of Ray.
"You can't send him there, he will die."
"And a lot more people will die if we leave him here, neither me nor your mother has ever seen anything like this and your grandfather has already intervened as much as he is allowed to. I don't care how rare flow is, but the fact that we know that it is actually possible is valuable enough." Not intending to listen to his daughter anymore, he waved his hand, pushing Ray through the portal and quickly closing it back up.
"And I will not hear a word of this again, as far as anyone who asks is to know. He couldn't handle the backlash of a spell that he stole from your library and exploded. That would explain the crater and will remove any blame from your guild." The burly man turned around and began to fly away. "And don't ask me where he is. Even if he somehow manages to stay alive no one can tell where someone goes after being forced into a portal. It could be high in the sky, at the bottom of the sea or in the middle of hell for all I know."
