Chapter 7 - Reunion

Mary stood in the courtyard of the Miller family's mansion, not daring to step in for a long time.

In her previous life, Mary had only visited the mansion a few times even after getting married to Gwyn because she was unwilling to marry him. She was both familiar and unfamiliar with the place.

Mary thought of the scene she saw in hell. The Miller family was destroyed, and the mansion became a famous haunted house. Many people said that they heard people crying at night.

She didn't know if it was the vengeful spirit of the Miller family that refused to let go in her past life.

At that time, the mansion courtyard was filled with lush greenery and walls covered with roses, a picturesque sight that bloomed in its prime. She couldn't have imagined that after so many years, it would become so desolate and lifeless.

"Don't be afraid. I'm here." Gwyn gently placed her hand into his own, his large hand wrapping around her slightly cold little hand.

Gwyn's fingers rubbed the back of her hand repeatedly, hoping to transfer his heat to her.

Mary walked silently behind Gwyn, her heart feeling complicated. She was afraid that meeting his parents would bring about some unpleasantness.

"Oh my god, my little Mary, are you feeling better? Why are you so skinny? Didn't you eat properly?"

Mary's eyes reddened when she heard Quintana's gentle and reproachful voice.

She grabbed Quintine's hand and tried to stop her tears.

"Child, it's okay. It's okay." Seeing Mary like this, Quintana thought that Mary had been wronged and tried to persuade her nicely.

She had watched Mary grow up. She knew that this child was kind and did not have bad intentions other than being a little stubborn. She really liked Mary.

When Gwyn's grandfather saw Mary's expression, he couldn't bring himself to reprimand her.

"My good child, let us know what you would like to eat. We made your favorite soup today. Yesterday, Gwyn informed us that you would be visiting, so we prepared it in advance. Please eat more late."

"Grandpa, I'm sorry." Mary looked at her grandfather with tears in her eyes, her heart filled with mixed feelings.

Gwyn's grandfather had treated Mary as his own granddaughter ever since she was young, due to her grandfather's act of saving his life.

Not only did he spoil her, he even planned her future. However, she was really a jerk in her previous life.

" What is there to apologize for? The best way for the younger ones like you to make it up to me is to live well." Seeing Mary's expression, the old man couldn't bear to scold her. However, he still had some doubts in his heart.

He knew this child the best. As long as she wanted to do something, backing down was impossible.

The old man observed that Mary had been obedient this time and heard that she had gone home by herself. He wondered if she would cause any trouble. Despite this, he couldn't help but feel sorry for her when he saw her pitiful look. He hoped that she would eventually see Gwyn's good side.

Because of Mary's change, not only was Gwyn happy, but even the elders felt unusually gratified. They forced the two of them to stay in the mansion for a few days.

At this moment, Mary was sitting on the swing in the garden. She looked up at the sky and felt a little disappointed.

She had been clamoring to sit on this swing when she was young. Gwyn had spent countless days to fix it. At that time, he had pulled her over as if he was presenting a treasure, but she had scoffed at him and even thought that this swing was ugly.

As she sat there now, she couldn't help but feel like the happiest person in the world.

"Buzz! " Her phone suddenly rang. Mary was a little surprised when she saw the content of the message.

Ford had actually completed his training on Agar in such a short period of time and even successfully challenged them.

Looking at Ford's file, she was a little enlightened. He was a special forces soldier and had the power to take revenge. It was inevitable that Ford would be able to break out of Agar so quickly.

At this moment, her phone rang again. Looking at the word 'Julie' on the screen, Mary could not help but sneer.

Calculating the time, it was indeed about time.

"Hello? Darling, where are you now? Why haven't you contacted me for so many days?" Julie sounded concerned.

Mary sneered, thinking that Julie was still putting on an act as usual. "So, you're staying in the mansion with Gwyn for a few days. What's the matter?"

The person on the other end of the phone was obviously stunned. Julie did not expect Mary to go to the Miller family's mansion.

But she quickly composed herself. "It's Bob. He wants to see you. Can you come over tomorrow?"

"Of course!" Mary's voice was a little excited, and a smile appeared on her lips.
