Charlie was looking at other families having great times with their children. Then he sadly looked at his reflection on the water where the statue of Carvette Equestrian is and he began to sing She's Out of My Life by Michael Jackson.
(Musical Sequence)
After the song ended, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna who is in their human forms saw Charlie sitting next to the statue looking sad and crying softly. They both looked worried.
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
Charlie?
Charlie saw Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, then he got up and hugged them.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN (Crying):
Celestia! Luna! I'm so glad to see you.
Princess Celestia and Princess Luna comfort Charlie.
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
Don't worry, child. We're here. But you know you shouldn't say our real names in public. What happened?
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
It's my mum. She's... Well...
PRINCESS LUNA:
Come and sit down with us.
Charlie, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna sat next to the statue.
PRINCESS LUNA:
Now, tell us what happened?
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
My mum signed me up to live in a care home in America. Which means I have to leave the island.
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
Why?
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
Because I've been watching T.V, playing video games and talking to myself too loudly. I kept telling mum I can't help it and it leads to an argument.
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
But we know you can't help it. It's part of your autism and we got used to it.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTIAN:
I know. But I told mum today that she's only putting me in a care home because she never wants to be there for me or contact me. She wants someone to do it for her and she's not talking about my dad.
PRINCESS LUNA:
How did she react after you said that to her?
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
A little bit scared.
Princess Celestia and Princess Luna looked at each other, then they looked at Charlie.
PRINCESS LUNA:
That means she knows you're telling the truth, but she's afraid to admit it.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
I know, but there's some other things I haven't told you about my mum. After I was finished tutoring with you two, my dad takes me home, but my mum wasn't there. So, he decided to stay with me until she's come's home. We've been waiting until 10pm every day.
PRINCESS LUNA:
Is it still happening?
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
Yes. She kept telling me she'll be home on time and she never tried.
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
Charlie, I know this is hard to accept, but your mum chooses not to worry about you. She only wants to worry about herself. And I think that's the reason why your father left her.
Charlie agreed with Princess Celestia.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
You're right. I've been having that feeling for ten years now and you're right. I was going to show mum my story. But she'll never be interested now.
PRINCESS LUNA:
So, when you're going to leave?
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
Tomorrow morning. And I know I'll never be happy when that happens.
Princess Celestia had an idea.
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
There's still time.
Princess Celestia took out her smartphone from her purse.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
What are you going to do?
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
I'm going to phone your mother and tell her that I'm putting you in our care. Your father gave me her phone number.
Princess Celestia used her smartphone and heard Samamtha's voice from it after it rang a few times.
SAMAMTHA CRYSTAL (Smartphone):
Hello?
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
Hello, Ms. Crystal. This is Cindy Everfree, Charlie's teacher.
SAMAMTHA CRYSTAL (Smartphone):
Oh, yes. Malcolm told me all about you and your sister. Is Charlie, okay?
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
He was sad at first, but he's fine. He also told us that you're moving him to a care home tomorrow. Is it true?
SAMAMTHA CRYSTAL (Smartphone):
Yes. In America. I've already signed him up on email and I haven't sent it yet. But I'm going to after lunch.
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
Well, you don't need to, because Linda and I are going to put Charlie in our care and live with us. If that's okay with you?
SAMAMTHA CRYSTAL (Smartphone):
Are you sure you can handle it?
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
Of course. Over twenty years ago, I've helped a little uni... girl, to help her learn about friendship. She was my faithful student and she taught everyone that friendship is magic. That was before I knew about My Little Pony. Then ten years ago, I've let her take over my place as the leader of friendship where she can take care of herself with her friends. That was when me and Linda decided to retire and move to Equestrian Island to help someone, like your son.
SAMAMTHA CRYSTAL (Smartphone):
That's sounds very interesting, Mrs. Everfree. Could you please tell me the name of the little girl you looked after?
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
Her name is Twilight Sparkle.
SAMAMTHA CRYSTAL (Smartphone):
Twilight Sparkle?
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
That's right, dear. Her parents gave her that name, from the character from My Little Pony.
SAMAMTHA CRYSTAL (Smartphone):
Well, then I trust you to put my son in your care. He can move in with you today if he wants to?
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
I'll let him know and call you back. Bye.
Princess Celestia hung up her smartphone and looked at Charlie.
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
Charlie, you don't have to leave the island. Your mum just put me and my sister in your care. So, you can move in with us to today, if you want?
Charlie looked happy and excited.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN (Excited):
Celestia, this is huge! Of course, I'll move in with you! This is what I've always wanted when I first met you and Luna. I won't have to worry about my problems and my dreams anymore!
Charlie hugged Princess Celestia.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN (Excited):
Thank you, Celestia! I mean Cindy! Cindy!
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
You're welcome.
Charlie calmed himself down.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
So, after I've moved in to your mansion, are you going to take me to Equestria?
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
When the time is right, I will take you there.
PRINCESS LUNA:
Both of us.
Charlie smiled.
Location: Charlie's house
Area: Front yard
Charlie was walking to Princess Celestia's car, while he was carrying a big box filled with his belongings. He put it in the trunk and Princess Luna closed it for him. Charlie sat in the back seat, while Princess Celestia sat in the driver seat and Princess Luna sat in the passenger seat. They closed the car doors and put their seat belts on. Samamtha was standing behind the front door of the house.
SAMAMTHA CRYSTAL:
Are you sure he'll be right living with you?
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
Of course, he will. Just give him a couple of days to adjust, and I'll give you a call.
While Princess Celestia started her car, Samamtha waved goodbye to Charlie.
SAMAMTHA CRYSTAL:
Bye, Charlie!
Charlie sadly looked at his mum and waved goodbye, while Princess Celestia drove her car and left Charlie's house. Samamtha looked sad after she saw Charlie's sad face. Inside the car, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna looked at the car mirror and noticed Charlie looked sad.
PRINCESS LUNA:
What's wrong, Charlie?
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
It's nothing, Luna. It's just I didn't want to say goodbye to mum because my feelings are different. I know she loves me and I know love her, but it's very difficult for me to believe it.
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
Well, don't worry. Once we arrived to our home, you're going to get a big surprise and I promise you will be happy.
Location: Flutter Forest
Area: Maretime Mansion
Princess Celestia parked next to the garage, then she, Princess Luna and Charlie got out of the car. While Charlie went to collect his belongings from the car trunk, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna changed back into alicorns.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
It was a good thing you built a garage, Celestia.
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
And I did learn how to drive after Luna and I met you and your father. Humans are so nice.
After Charlie got his big box of belongings out of the trunk, he saw he dad's car next to Princess Celestia's car.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTIAN:
Why's my dad's car doing here?
PRINCESS LUNA:
You'll see.
Princess Celestia opened the front door with her key, then she, Princess Luna and Charlie went inside the mansion. Princess Luna was using her levitating spell to carry Charlie's big box of belongings without using her hooves. In the hall, Charlie went to the living room and saw his dad sitting on the couch, watching the news on T.V.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
Dad?
Malcolm saw Charlie, then he got up from the couch and happily hugged his son.
MALCOLM EQUESTRIAN:
Charlie boy!
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
What are you doing here?
Malcolm let go of his son.
MALCOLM EQUESTRIAN:
I live here, Charlie boy.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
I told you not to call me that. And what do you mean you live here?
MALCOLM EQUESTRIAN:
After I dropped you off to your mum's last Sunday, I went to work and my boss gave me my last pay check and retired me. I didn't have enough money to keep my house, so Celestia and Luna took me to their home.
Charlie looked surprised.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
What?!
Princess Celestia and Princess Luna appeared in the living room.
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
That was the surprise.
Charlie looked at Princess Celestia and Princess Luna and acted scared and defensive while pushing his dad away from them.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
Uhh... Giant Ponies! Don't worry, Dad! I'll protect ya! Just escape through the window, while I hold them off!
Malcolm calmed his son down.
MALCOLM EQUESTRIAN:
Charlie boy, calm down! Your teachers told me everything.
Charlie looked at Princess Celestia and Princess Luna.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
What? Why would you do that?
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
Well, if your father's gonna stay with us, we can't keep our secrets from him anymore.
MALCOLM EQUESTRIAN:
Don't worry, son. I haven't told everyone, even your mum.
Charlie looked relieved.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
Well, if you only told dad about you two, then that's okay.
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
Great. I'm glad you understand. Luna, would you kindly show Charlie to his new room we've prepared for him?
PRINCESS LUNA:
Certainly, sister. Charlie, come with me.
Charlie followed Princess Luna and went upstairs. Princess Luna opened the door and inside the room was a king size bed, a big T.V, a shower room and a balcony. Charlie looked surprisingly happy, while Princess Luna put the big box of his belongings down to the floor.
PRINCESS LUNA:
What do you think?
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
It's perfect, Luna. Everything's perfect. Thank you for carrying my stuff for me. But it's gonna take me an hour to unpack and stack them up.
PRINCESS LUNA:
Allow me.
Princess Luna used her magic to open the box and levitate all of Charlie's stuff in the air. She stacked his books in the bookshelf, stacked his clothes in the closet, pinned his posters on the walls, stacked his DVDs, CDs and video games on the shelf and sets up his Nintendo Switch and plugged it into his T.V.
PRINCESS LUNA:
There. All done, and it took a minute, too.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN (Surprised):
Wow! Now that's what I call magic! Thanks, Luna.
Charlie gave Princess Luna a big hug.
PRINCESS LUNA:
My pleasure, Charlie. I just want to make you happy.
Princess Luna looked at Charlie's video games on the shelf.
PRINCESS LUNA:
Kingdom Hearts. Final Fantasy. Dragon Quest. Trials of Mana.
Charlie let go of Princess Luna.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
Oh, these are my Japanese video games I was telling you and Celestia about. The characters are all about working together, fighting bad guys, finding keys to dungeons and castles, finding treasures, and saving the world from the darkness. The light is their only weapon. But they don't just work together as a team...
PRINCESS LUNA:
They work together as friends?
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
That's right! How'd you know that?
PRINCESS LUNA:
When Celestia kept getting letters from Twilight, she told me all about them and we've been watching her showing everypony about friendship and fought off all the villains we've encountered. And at the end, Twilight realised that she and the rest of the guardians weren't just a team. They're friends.
Charlie understood Princess Luna.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
I understand, Luna. It's just that friendship is stronger than family. Friends always help others with their problems, but families sometimes help, but they mostly run away from them. That's what my mum's been doing all the time. But my dad never treats me as a parent. He treats me as a friend.
PRINCESS LUNA:
Is that why he's been calling you Charlie boy?
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
Yes, but I wish he'll ease it down and just call me Charlie.
Princess Luna smiled at Charlie.
PRINCESS LUNA:
I know how you're feeling. Celestia and I always fight because being a family was very hard for us, but every time we get along as friends, it was easy because it felt right.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
Have you ever told Celestia about this?
Princess Luna was thinking.
PRINCESS LUNA:
Uhh... No, I haven't. I thought she knew.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
Maybe she will if you tell her. I'm sure she'll agree.
PRINCESS LUNA:
You're right, Charlie. She will because friendship always helps everypony to get along by earning it. That's why it's magic. And family, it's very hard because they have to work for it.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
Friendship is magic, and family is hard work.
PRINCESS LUNA:
Exactly.
Princess Luna heard Princess Celestia called out to her.
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
Luna! Could you help me in the kitchen? And I hope you're not helping Charlie unpack his stuff with your magic.
Princess Luna looked a little bit nervous.
PRINCESS LUNA:
Uh, oh. I better go talk to her. I'll let you settle in and we'll let you know when dinner's ready.
Princess Luna was about to leave the room, until Charlie stopped her.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
Luna, wait!
Princess Luna stopped and Charlie smiled.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
You are Celestia are going to be best carers, because you two are my best friends.
Princess Luna smiled.
PRINCESS LUNA:
Thank you, Charlie.
Princess Luna left the room and closed the door behind her. Charlie jumped with excitement.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
Yes!
Later that night, Charlie was in his new room, sitting on his bed, while playing Trials of Mana on his Nintendo Switch.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
Finding all the spirits it's like finding the Elements of Harmony.
Princess Celestia called out to Charlie.
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
Charlie! Dinner's ready! We're having pizza!
Charlie looked happy, paused his video game and left his bedroom.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
All right!
In the dining room, Charlie, Malcolm, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna were at the table, eating pizza.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTIAN:
Oh, Luna. I've forgot to tell you something.
PRINCESS LUNA:
What is it?
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
You and Celestia retired because you want Twilight and her friends to rule Equestria.
PRINCESS LUNA:
I assume you figured it out from watching the final season of My Little Pony?
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
Yes.
PRINCESS LUNA:
Well, you're right. It happened ten years ago. We want Twilight and her friends to rule Equestria because we trust them. They haven't written us back, but I know they have everything under control.
Charlie looked at Princess Celestia reading his script.
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
So, Celestia. What do you think of my script?
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
Charlie, your script is the most powerful story you have ever written! You and your dad are in it and I'm also in it with Luna, and.... Who's Sunny Starscout?
CHARLIE CARVETTE EQUESTRIAN:
She's is an earth pony who is now an alicorn from My Little Pony: A New Generation movie. It came out on Netflix last month.
PRINCESS CELESTIA:
Oh, yes. Luna and I have seen the movie. It was amazing that earth pony wants to being magic back and unite all ponies. She reminds me of Twilight.
Princess Celestia passed on Charlie's script to Malcolm.
