The moonlight shone through the trees and revealed a two-meter-tall wolf with silver fur that reflected the moonlight, making him look like he was glowing.
He kept growling at Finn, showing his razor-sharp teeth.
There were four black wolves that were slightly smaller, following the alpha silver wolf, and they were also keeping an eye on Finn.
'That's a Moonlight wolf and four Night wolves. The big guy is probably level five, and the smaller ones are level three. Normally I'd be happy that you have enemies to fight, but, in this case, you would just get slaughtered, so there is only one thing left for you to do. Run!'
When Finn heard what monsters he was facing from Loki, he instantly knew that he would not be able to outrun them, so he quickly looked around and, after finding a suitable tree with branches closer to the ground, ran straight to it.
The wolves didn't want to have their dinner escape, so they immediately gave chase.
The tree was close to Finn's position, so he quickly got there and jumped onto its branches.
The wolves didn't know how to climb trees, so they just started clawing the trunk while howling at him.
Finn climbed a little higher and decided to wait the night out on that tree.
The branch he was sitting on was thick enough to support his weight, so he just sat there, looking at the wolves howling below him.
He had probably entered the Moonlight wolf's territory and angered the entire wolf pack, or so he thought that it was the entire pack.
Soon another Moonlight wolf came, with five black wolves following it.
"Damn. It's a male and female pair leading an entire pack. I guess I'll just stay up here."
Finn started getting comfortable on his branch, preparing to wait out the night up there.
ROOOAARR
He was suddenly stunned to hear a deafening roar of a strong monster close to his tree.
After the roar, Finn heard loud stomps getting closer and closer.
The wolves, on the other hand, encircled the two silver wolves and engaged in a defensive position, waiting for whatever was making those stomps.
CRACK THUD
With a loud crash, a tree was knocked down, and the monster finally stepped out of the shadows.
Illuminated by the moonlight, there was a four-meter-tall red grizzly bear with a scar on his right eye.
It looked extremely menacing as it eyed the wolf pack, completely ignoring Finn, who was about to shit himself after encountering such a monstrosity on his first night there.
'That's Grawdr, and he is the boss monster of this forest. It looks like he wants to start a territory war with those wolves over there, and he is most likely around level ten.'
Loki was starting to think that tonight would be boring, but suddenly there was an exciting brawl going to go down.
'Open your eyes and watch their fight. You might learn a thing or two from it.'
He summoned popcorn into Finn's consciousness, and while sitting on a sofa, he started watching the power struggle through Finn's eyes.
---
The Black wolves encircled the bear Grawdr while the two Moonlight wolves kept growling at him, wanting to draw his attention away from their wolf pack.
AWOOO
With a loud howl from one of the Moonlight wolves, all the Black wolves, as if waiting for a signal, jumped on the bear, biting its fur.
Grawdr wasn't the boss monster for nothing, so all those bites did little to no damage to him.
He started swiping his sharp claws and roaring as he tried to shake off the Black wolves that were still holding onto him, trying to slow him down.
The two Moonlight wolves used this opportunity of Grawdr being preoccupied and bit his stomach, where his fur was a little thinner.
ROOAAAR
Grawdr roared in pain as he slashed his large two paws down on the Moonlight wolves.
The male Moonlight wolf quickly jumped away, but the female wolf looked like her teeth got stuck, and before she had the chance to escape, Grawdr's claws met her head.
Then... there was no then.
THUD
The female Moonlight wolf's body fell to the ground, its teeth finally freed.
AWOOOOO
There was a short moment of silence that was soon broken by a loud howl that sounded like it was filled with heart-wrenching pain.
The male Moonlight wolf howled loudly after losing his only mate and, with bloodshot eyes, started attacking Grawdr even more fiercely.
At that point, all of the other wolves also died, and the fight became a duel between Grawdr and the male Moonlight wolf.
The wolf abused the fact that Grawdr's body was too large for him to move freely and kept biting his blind spots.
Grawdr was trying to fight back, but the enraged wolf was too fast for him.
This went on for at least an hour until the wolf finally started to get tired and made a mistake.
Grawdr didn't waste this opportunity, and with a slash, he sliced the wolf's stomach open, making him slowly bleed out on the ground, too exhausted to run.
And with that, Grawdr finally won the fight, but his body was filled with various bites and claw marks that kept bleeding. He even had one of his front paws torn off.
Grawdr wanted to return to his den and heal, but he was losing a lot of blood and was too exhausted to make it home.
He looked around, and after not seeing anything that might endanger him, he decided to sleep there and recover his health.
As soon as he slowly closed his tired eyes and was almost asleep, he heard a soft, almost unnoticeable, thud behind him.
He used all his remaining strength to turn his head around, and once he did, he saw a person wearing only black clothes with a black mask staring at him.
The person kept walking closer, but Grawdr was too tired to fight back at this point, so once he felt something sharp pierce his brain, he closed his eyes and fell asleep... forever.
---
Meanwhile, Finn was in disbelief that such a godly opportunity had fallen into his lap.
After finishing Grawdr with his dagger, he also ended the suffering of the male Moonlight wolf, who was still bleeding on the ground, and started collecting all the loot.
He first packed up all the corpses into his inventory, planning to create new equipment for himself, and then he went to gather the loot that Grawdr had dropped.
Grawdr was a boss monster, so he dropped loot ranging anywhere from coins to weapons or armor.
Finn searched the bear corpse for the item, and sure enough, there was a small glass vial filled with blood red liquid, lying below his left paw.
The first thing Finn did was check the item with his in-game system.
Name: Strength Potion
Rank: B+
Ability: Permanently raises the drinker's strength stat by 15.
Description: An extremely rare potion that cannot be concocted and only has a miniscule chance of being found by killing a boss monster that is 5 levels or higher.
With the potion's description, more messages popped up in front of Finn.
[You have killed a Moonlight wolf – level 5 who was 3 levels above you and received 3x more experience. You have received 300 exp]
[You have killed a boss monster Grawdr – level 10 who was 8 levels above you and received the 8x more exp. You have received 3600 exp]
[You have leveled up to level 6 and gained 4 free attribute points]
Finn was ecstatic to be able to boost his strength by such a large amount.
After drinking the potion, his strength would be boosted by 15 points, which was equivalent to 15 level ups.
Once he downed the potion into his throat, he felt pain all over his body, and he felt like there were ants crawling under his skin.
He sat on the ground, trying to regulate his breathing and have other thoughts so as not to be reminded of the pain.
The pain he was experiencing was from his body being forced to evolve and get stronger.
Right now all of his muscles were hurting, and if he were to upgrade his intelligence, for example, he would experience a splitting headache.
Of course, a player could also never experience this pain while playing Second Life because their bodies are fine with being upgraded by one attribute point at a time, but if they were to do fifteen at once like Finn was doing, they would also feel pain.
Second Life had the same amount of pain a person would feel in real life, but in an emergency, the pain receptors would be turned completely off to not let the person die of shock inside the capsule.
After five minutes, the pain finally stopped, and Finn opened his status screen.
Name: Chained_Trickster
Class: None
Level: 6 (1400/1500)
Skills: Stealth (1%)
Attributes (+4): Strength 26, Intelligence 19, Endurance 12, Agility 16
Titles: Loki's blessed, Owner of the black feather
"Hahaha! From eleven to twenty-six with one potion! As long as you are lucky in this game, you can become the strongest in seconds!"
While laughing, he kept checking his new body, which now had lean muscles all over it.
He was joking about the fact that he just had to be lucky to be strong in Second Life, but the potion he received as a reward had such a small chance of dropping that he might as well have won a lottery.
His new strength stat did make him the strongest player, but compared to high-level NPCs, he was still an ant.
Finn also added his attribute points to agility, making it go up to 20, and this time the pain only lasted for a minute because he wasn't upgrading fifteen points at once.
He wanted to close the status screen, but then he saw another message that he had missed before.
[You are the first person to slay a boss monster click here to announce your heroic feat.]
Never in his previous life had he seen a message like this, so he clicked it, wanting to see what it did.
"Hmmm? Nothing is happening... What does that mean?"
Finn didn't have to wonder for long, as the system soon answered his question.
All of a sudden, a blue window popped up in front of everyone playing Second Life, be it someone who just entered the game or people still farming their first monsters to get to level 2.
Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at the blue window with eyes filled with disbelief.
The window had small, colorful fireworks and a simple line of white text.
[World announcement: Congratulations to the player Chained_Trickster for being the first one to kill a boss monster, Grawdr - level 10]
