Link finished his piece and let them process it. At the same time, he also told the group to be alert to everything around or cover each other back. While he gets some snacks from the vending machine inside the room.
He still pay using his money even though the world is probably going down straight to lawlessness soon. But the law is still there and function, he didn't want a police or two to get here and make situations more chaotic.
"Lia, eat this." Link gives his niece a chocolate bar and no longer mind if it will ruin the dinner or not. As he himself didn't know if they will get time to eat in piece or even eat.
He's not pessimistic per say but it's better to let his kid be full rather than letting her belly's empty. Nutrition can be a thing to think on later.
Having down his snacks, Link get up and walks toward the group.
"Back on the topic, we might need to create a blockade so our survivability rate will get higher. So we need to block these two doors or any possible entrance; we will also need to have some materials for it and the most important thing, weapons. So I need people, two or three will go with me to get useable stuff from the garage area. In my workshop there should be quite a lot that can be change or modified into a weapon.
Also, another two or three will go to get the shut in kid down here. Check if he's okay, more hands means more work force. If I'm not wrong you're Alex right? And the other guy is? I want you two to go with me to the garage with me to get all of us some weapon of sort to protect ourselves."
Link ask the only two person who held a weapon in their hands. One is holding a baseball bat and the other one has a hunting rifle strapped on his shoulder and a knife in his hand. Personally, he thinks these two guys are quite good at responding to an unexpected situation.
"I'm Mishca. Alex and I have been best friend since our high school. I'm agreed with giving people here a weapon to hold. Also shelter is a must if this will be like the zombie movies or any other humans versus `things`. Even in a normal situation we need shelter. Oh, I can back this man because I am a certified survival expert. I don't want to brag but I want you guys to know my value beforehand." said the man holding the baseball bat.
"Let me make this clear before we go. I don't want to make you or us fight right now when we don't know what we'll fight but I want each of us have each other back. So, shall we move then?"
"Link you also need to arms yourself before we go out. I can't trust my back to an armless man; I doubt verbal action will help. As you guys see, I have years of hunting experience as I was doing it with my dad since I was a boy and bad news is, I only have three bullets. As my friend said before, if this really turns into human versus the zombies or monster thing, we are fucked if we don't have weapons in hand."
Both man talk quite a bit and discuss something while Link arm himself with a fruit knife given by Daria. It is a shabby knife compare to the knife on Alex's hand but as Alex had said, he needed to be arm for whatever to come.
"I only found this and as you state your fighting force. I will also say mine then. I can fight well and never lose in street fight. You can believe me or not but let's just stake it. Anyway, you guys need to get ready of whatever to come also. And please take care of my kid for me while I'm away."
The three of them move out from the recreational room and open the glass that separates them from the outside and unknown world. No one would usually think about just the act of opening the door would be so gut wrenchingly heavy.
They could still see the outside world thru the glass door, and the empty opening in front gives the three man mix feeling.
Taking in a big breath, Link grab the door handle and see the green light indicating the door is unlocks. The door locking mechanism recognises the tenant from their electronic ID they usually carry with them wherever they go as it has multiple function within, so the people need to bring their e-id when they left home or you can get a fine if police inspect you and you don't have it on you.
"Alex, I think we may need your wife to hold the door for us. You know, we might have to let the metal hatch ready to get deploy just in case."
"Make sense. I will get her here and another person to be her companion. Two is better than one isn't?"
Mishca, Alex's friend just nodded seemingly agree with Link's proposal. The two of them just wait in front of the door and keenly watching the outside world.
Alex is back with his wife and a girl from the same floor on. If Link's memory is right, it is one of the girls who lease with her 5 other friends, he can't quite recalled what they are doing. Then Alex gives his rifle to his wife.
"No worries, she had gone hunting with me on a couple of occasion. Her shooting skill is enough for our current situation."
Link just nodded and he gazes at the two other men who he will trust his back into. They also reply with a light nod.
Opening the door, Link move out and see his surroundings. The lights outside is already turns on automatically and accompanied with the light of dusk, the atmosphere is getting chillier. It wasn't a simple cold resulting from sunset which most would not even notice, this was because the chill they felt come crawling in slowly from their tip of their fingers.
They keep moving with Link's on the lead. The garage which usually only takes 3 minutes from the front entrance took them more than ten. It's three times more, mirroring their slow steps and alertness to their surroundings.
The garage is on the ground floor of the apartment building and it is two-thirds of the ground floor building as the architect planned to make this empty plot to be used for workshops or any creative work area but it turns into garage for the tenant who owns a car or expensive stuff that can't be put into their apartment. So the building management just modifies it based on demand.
Link rent the garage for his workshop, a carpenter workshop to be exact. No matter what he is still the son of a carpenter even though he never really learns the craft from his father. The tools are old, and most of them were from his dad's workshop. He salvages what he can and transport them here.
The carpentry is not a lucrative business as the carpenter can't compete against machine but there's still market for those who like the trademarks of the hand-made craft.
Standing in front of the rolling door made out of metal, Link brought his wrist closer to the identifying panel. He and the other two behind him also slowly back off just in case if there's something inside that would want to mauls them down.
They stands one and half metres away from each other and watch as the metallic door slowly moving up. They instantly heave a sigh of relief almost at the same time; seeing nothing coming out and no movement from the inside.
"There's a couple of blades here that can be use as a weapon. Let us get inside first and gather what we can bring back inside. Should I close the door while we gather them up or you two or one is standing outside being a spotter?"
Mishca give his opinion instantly, "Alex have better vision than me and we should move faster too. The slower we are the more uncertainty we will face."
"Got it. I will respond if I see something. Daria said the monster would pop out from a ripple-like thing phenomenon that appear in the air, was it? I hope they won't appear from the ground as I won't be able to see or notice it then."
Link points at what Mishca should do, which items he needed to move and so on while Link goes straight for the more hidden tools and also bags they would need to carry all the tools they will bring.

"Did you see that?" the talk at the same time.
"So I guess this won't be going into the zombie route." Chimed Alex.
