"...So that's what I saw. Ab, what did you say before? Aliens and the already extinct dinosaurs?"
"When I was woken up by that announcement broadcast which I thought was a dream at first, yet my gut told me otherwise. So I followed my instinct. I thought I could send out a drone and look around while I sat on the bidet. O dear Soul games in existence. My bowels loosen further without me doing anything.
The first thing I spotted was the creature Link had seen at the gate, thankfully from afar. A bona fide hybrid creature that mostly appears in thriller genre stories or sickening romance-. A humanoid wolf, or what we know as... a werewolf. Its appearance is exactly like those depicted in the movies The Hunt of The Cursed and Wicked Wolf. And that werewolf happily feasting itself on a corpse of what used to be a living breathing woman. Well, I think it is a woman because I can see red high heels not far from where she got gutted."
`Ahem` "Kid you are not helping the situation here, leave out the wrenching part." Cuts Daria off.
"Continuing on and because of censorship, I will leave the gore part. So, after watching that furry creature feasting on a used to be human, I tried to fly close so I could get a closer look at that creature. But it suddenly looked in my direction and jumped. It jumped so high it almost caught my drone. So I flew vertically away from that werewolf's clutch. Leaving the scene, I flew randomly south towards the woodland area and there I found a pack of dino raptors. The kind that has smooth scales that reflect bits of light like that species of snake called green snakes just darker. It has no feathers, just a pure slick and dynamic looking body.
Lastly, when I tried to call my drone back using an autopilot system. There I met the one that looks so alien that I can't really describe it; it has bright blue skin that glows like moss under UV blacklight. I doubt we would notice that creature from down the ground in daylight as it has the same colour as our sky. And that thing floats higher than a 10 story building. The moment I saw that creature, I turned off my autopilot and planned to avoid that creature's aggro range. Then all of sudden I lost control of the drone and it got dragged into its hand, you know, like those fabled telekinesis. After that, the feeds got cut off."
"You put in too many bits of what we want to know."
"Sorry, occupational habits." Abraham lets out a smile showing his row of white teeth to everyone.
"Now everyone knows what's out there and what we met or know might not be all of them. The second topic I want to discuss is the amenities we all take for granted, more or less. The most obvious thing that would be lost first would be electricity and then the water system would soon follow. Daria, how long before the EESS (Emergency Energy Storage System) runs out of energy?"
"If it's under normal use, it could last for 30 hours or so but for intensive use, it would be around 10 to 15 hours. I don't know the exact number either but it should be around that."
"What about the water tank?"
"Two weeks... yeah about that. If it's used for essential purposes. Like drinking, cooking and stuff." Daria answered while tapping her forehead.
"You guys heard her right? We might not run out of water soon but we still need to ration it. I'm talking about the water in the water tank store up there." Link pointed up using his thumb.
Seeing their silent responses, Link continues.
"You guys know when the electricity is totally gone all of our electronics would be useless. Except those who used batteries but those too would run out of energy soon enough. The first thing that would be lost would be our forever day- I mean, the lighting won't be there to light our night anymore. You can think of the lists of what will be eliminated when our whole society relies so much on electricity. Or at least until the government forces the people to run the power plant but let's not even bother with that. We need to survive first before we can think of anything outside that aspect."
"I will add here, do you guys know that our brain is built and shaped so that we are more active on the negative side of the spectrum or simply said, our brain processes that kind of information so potently it gives us higher probability of success. By success I mean living on. Here is an example: a person saw a stick in the bushes and you thought it was a snake so you chose another path while another person just walked straight without any detour while thinking it could be a tree root. Who do you think will survive longer? Yes, we inherited those cautious genes so we could survive. It might not be helpful in a safe world but you know our situation."
"Um, do you mean we need to have negative thoughts all the time?" asked Maggie.
"No, that would be detrimental in many ways. Be negative but don't be too negative. Assuming the worst possible scenario, then you make a plan for the said assumption. What you shouldn't do is freeze, undecided. Always have a plan where you would survive the ordeal. You get what I mean? Good. Link, we should talk about food problems. Should we go hunting or scavenging?"
"I honestly don't know. Me and my kid could last for a month using what I bought. Logically, we can't hunt with what we have now and we also don't know what would show up out there. So we're left with scavenging for food. I guess we could go to the closest store that sells food and essentials."
A few seconds of silence fills the room before Abraham breaks the almost soundless place.
"It seems everyone is stumped. Let me tell you about the experience and knowledge I've accumulated as a professional gamer. Our reality right now is like those games with a survival theme where the mission is to survive as long as possible and thrive. In that kind of game where there are many allies from the start, we first assign roles to the players. Like, one group would build a camp, another group would search or gather resources, and stuff like that. Depending on their chosen ability of course."
"That's better than being without a plan. Ab would you make us a plan or give us a deeper insight from your point of view as someone who's familiar with this setting? Daria will brief you about our Trait."
"I'll do my best."
"Sure, let's move away a bit there." Daria leads Abraham to the table at the corner where she previously hit her head.
"Anyone know the closest store where we can get the essentials? Remember, the thing you order is the last of the last options for yourself. So we need to procure as much food and water as possible for the whole group."
Suddenly getting asked by Link makes them think of all possible scenarios. Can they get there? Or will they be able to eat if they weren't able to procure their own food, stuff like that running rampart inside their heads.
The group began discussing their food problem. Where they will go, who will go, what time will they go, and who will stay.
Meanwhile, Daria helped Abraham print his plans and thoughts to be handed out to the tenants. After finishing with the papers, Daria gave each person two sets of papers.
Link receives the papers handed to him by Daria. One is written manually then copied and the other one looks copy-pasted from the internet. It is a five page copy of Abraham's messy handwritten piece and a quite crowded 10 pages of words and pictures.
"Are you done with your discussion? Shall I start?"
"Please." Less than half of the people in the room replied almost at the same time. The rest are either still shook by the topic they discuss about or just give a body gesture for Abraham to continue.
"Previously I talked about splitting the group right? Well, that's inside the game where you will respawn after death but I doubt we got that feature. So, before we can split the people into groups I want you guys to see on the first page here; there is a role or position or type of player that can be filled-in in this case, us. I split them into five types: crafter, support, medic, sensor, and assault. You can read about each type or role and what I had in mind when I wrote them."
Abraham pointed out each role for the group simply so they could understand. He thought even if they didn't play a game with the same kind of setting, they could understand more or less of what he's saying. After all, they are still in the young and fun age category, aren't they? He questioned his thoughts.
