Chapter 193 - I Missed You

"Is it frustrating being that stupid?" I sighed as I stared down Gabriel. The doors to St. Patrick's Cathedral were firmly closed behind him, and all the pretty little monsters were banging on the thick doors, trying to escape.

Gabriel growled low as he raised his sword of flames high into the air. "I am perfection," he shouted, and some of those left alive around him turned to stare at him, their mouths slightly opened in wonder as he spoke.

"I am the first being ever to be created, and Earth was created by me, for me. This is my home, and I am taking it back. Anything unclean will be exterminated, beginning with the abomination," he continued, his voice echoing around us.

Mathew shifted on his feet where he stood behind me, guarding my back. Clearly, he didn't like anyone calling me an abomination, but I wasn't going to put any more credence into what spilled from Gabriel's mouth.

"That's cute," I replied with a nod. "But not was I was referring to. Although, I guess you did just answer my question."

Gabriel froze, his riveted audience slowly turning toward me as their monsters came out to place. Eyes flashed red and yellow around the room, and the terrifying growls of wolves and beasts sprung forth out of the darkness.

I was pretty sure that if I wasn't so blah about the whole thing, I would be so much more impressed… and even a bit scared.

However…

I wasn't.

"Sit down and shut up," I snapped at the House Werewolf and House Vampyres as they turned their hungry gaze toward me and mine.

"You don't get to talk to us like that," sneered a vampire as he glided closer to me. "You are not strong enough to lead us all. Poor little Gypsy girl… so scared of her monster that she chose to live as a human. Me and mine will take great pleasure from draining you dry."

"Do you know why I wanted to live as a human?" I sighed, looking at the vampire. The problem with my monster… if you want to call it that… was that it never did things in half measures.

I couldn't torture people from afar… my only way of letting them know it was a stupid idea to piss me off was simply to kill them. And then, there was no one around to spread the word.

"Because you are too weak for this world," replied the vampire, coming so close that he was practically within spitting distance. "You knew that we were going to chew you up and spit you out the moment we knew about you. Look… even now, you smell human."

"Huh," I grunted, intrigued by that idea. Gabriel was able to tell that I was half angel, half demon… but I didn't realize that the rest couldn't sense that too. "Good to know."

The vampire sneered at me as his eyes turned red and his nails elongated into sharp talons. Launching himself at me, he suddenly froze in mid-air, his panicked eyes staring down at me right before he fell like ashes to the ground.

"That is why I said you were stupid, Gabriel," I called out, still not moving from my relaxed position on the steps. "Your blade needs to drink my blood to become stronger while I don't have to move to kill you."

Gabriel's eyes widened as his face looked shocked for a moment before twisting in anger. "I never should have allowed you to be born," he sneered, just as the doors behind him slammed open.

Hundreds of demons, angels, and Knights raced into the room, killing all the monsters who had tried to sneak out the front door. Screams of pain and anguish spread out into the world before the doors closed behind them, cutting us off from the outside world.

"I was about to go looking for you," I called out as Viktor, Nicholas, and Michael strolled down the central aisle, their swords in hand as they took out everyone in their way. "I guess I can knock that off my list of things to do."

"Are you okay?" demanded Viktor, skidding by Gabriel to approach me. "You aren't hurt, are you?"

"Nope," I assured him, looking up with a smile. "I decided that a white wedding dress really wasn't me, so I got them to dye it pink."

Viktor looked at me, confused like he couldn't tell if I was telling the truth or not, but eventually, he let it drop.

"I'm sorry it took so long," he murmured. Leaning down, he placed a single kiss in the center of my forehead. "But what are you doing here?"

Nodding my head, more and more pieces fell into place. "Well, after you and Nicholas offered to let me take over your House and businesses, you wanted the world to know that I was your wife. This whole thing was your idea; you planned everything down to the flowers. I really have to say, it was impressive."

"I gave you my House?" sputtered Nicholas as he came to sit beside me. He was dressed to the nines in his suit and tie, and it was hard not to drool over him… just a bit.

"You did. Said that you had planned to do this for a while," I nodded. "I accepted, so now I'm Queen of the Demons and Head of House Diavol."

"You're joking, right?" demanded Viktor, spinning around so that he could glare at Sasha. "There is no way I would want to put that much stress on her shoulders. Make her a figurehead? Sure. As my Lady, she gets the final say in everything… but not just drop everything at her feet."

"And that was how I knew you weren't you," I chuckled. "Or at least, it was my first suspicion. Mind you, if that really was your plan, I had found a nice place to bury you out back."

Michael turned to stare at Gabriel, who was looking a little paler than usual and smiled at him. "Hello, brother. I missed you."
