Chapter 6 - Dance With Me

**TW/ mention of drugs and kidnapping**

With mid-terms approaching, Macau and Porchay hardly spent time together and it had begun to bug Chay. The boy had just left his faculty building grumbling about leaving school after seven. His theory exams were not what bothered Chay though. It was the song he had to write for one of his classes that had him staying at school late. It had been a week since he'd last seen Macau because he had bailed on their training sessions and it was doing nothing for his already foul mood. He hadn't seen his new favourite person in so long and he had to spend a lot of time around Kim because his peer mentor was sick. As if having to spend time around Kim a few of the older girls in their major had begun shipping Chay and Kim. Had it been a couple of months earlier Chay may have liked it but now it left him feeling pure irritation that he couldn't let out because one, they were older than him and throwing a fit would only land him in trouble, and two, he couldn't kick Macau or at least try during their training sessions to vent.

The boy had been absent-mindedly walking down the dimly lit street back to his apartment building while blasting music into his ears so he didn't realise when two men sneaked up on him from behind until one of them had their hand on his neck. Chay was yanked into an alley between two buildings before he was harshly shoved into a wall. He looked frantically between the two men trying to may out their faces but it was too dark but. At least he was sure it was only two of them.

He waited a brief moment waiting for one of them to do or say something but nobody spoke or acted, "If you want money or my phone just take them and let me go," Chay said irritated before reaching into his pocket and shoving the phone into the closest person's chest before turning to walk out of the alley.

He was immediately pulled back as he heard something clatter to the floor, so I'm not getting mugged. Chay knew that he wasn't really safe walking around by himself but he didn't someone would try to abduct him again. The first time wasn't exactly fun and his brother was only a bodyguard so this time he'd probably actually get hurt. That was when he began to panic but he wasn't as scared as he thought he would be in that situation. He tried to walk forward before he was slammed back into the wall. Suddenly an old pop song filled the space in the dark alley and one of the men standing there with Chay pulled his phone out of his pocket and walked a few steps away to answer the call. That was when Chay decided to do something that would either go very well or very wrong.

With both men slightly distracted and one of them not even paying attention to him, Chay grabbed the arm of the man pinning him against the wall before twisting. It wasn't what Macau had taught him but he had seen enough action movies to know it worked. The man dropped to his knees easier than Chay thought he would and was about to call out to his partner when Chay swung at his face hearing something crack before the man fell, "Maybe I shouldn't have kicked so hard," the boy mumbled picking up the phone before turning to run out of the alley.

He was almost out until he was yanked back by his hair, "Oi! Why do you have to grab my hair like that?" the boy shouted.

He twisted around and struck the man in the chest as hard as he could. The man stumbled a step back before lunging at Chay again only to be kicked in the shin and then in the crown jewels. Chay didn't have any real skill yet so he just hit the man where he knew it would hurt. When the man dropped to his knees with his hands otherwise occupied Chay brought his foot up to his face sending him to the ground.

When Chay turned around he was met with someone standing in the opening of the alley and was about to turn to run in the opposite direction until he realised it was just the person he had been missing all week. Chay grabbed Macau's hand and started running down the street. He didn't know why he was running because he was well aware of the fact that if those men came after him Macau would take care of it but he kept running until they were outside their apartment building huffing and puffing, "Nice moves back there," Macau taunted leaning against the building wall to catch his breath.

"Shut up."

"That first kick...loved it. You should teach me sometime."

"How about I demonstrate on you right now?" Chay huffed glaring at Macau from his crouching position next to the boy.

"Easy there Oogway, I'm just asking you to teach me your ways."

"I'm leaving," Chay said getting up and disappearing into the building.

Chay was about to close the door when Macau ducked into the room before grinning at the boy. Chay rolled his eyes and walked away from Macau fetching them both chilled water from the fridge, "Why were you walking home so late?" Macau asked taking the water from Chay.

"Mid-year project thing," Chay replied gulping half his water down.

"You could have called me to come get you."

"Didn't want to bother you."

"Says the person who just randomly shows up to my room almost everyday...until last week that it," Macau quipped.

Hearing Macau's words Chay paused, "That bothers you?" he whispered bowing his head.

It was only then that Macau realised what he had said. Chay wasn't a bother. He was anything but and he had managed to tell the boy that his random room visits bothered him, "No, Chay I didn't mean it like that. I actually really like it when you come to my room unannounced; it gives me a reason to keep it clean all the time and I really just like hanging out with you," he said in one breath.

"So I don't bother you by coming to your room all the time?" the boy asked making puppy eyes at Macau.

"Far from it, hell if you wanted it you could just stay in my room all the time and I wouldn't mind," he replied before freezing at his words, fuck.

Porchay suddenly grinned like an idiot raising an eyebrow at the boy who was now growing red in the face, "You're so freaking weird," the boy laughed, "And here I was thinking you didn't like me."

"I'm leaving," Macau put his water on the table and was about to turn to the door before Chay stopped him.

"No, please stay. I'm kinda really freaked out right now so maybe you can here and tell me all about your plans to get me to move in with you," the boy smirked.

"You suck," Macau said walking passed Chay to go sit on the couch.

"Oh shut up. You know you love me," the boy said in sing-song.

Once Chay joined Macau on the couch the boy finally asked if Chay he was going to tell Porsche about almost getting kidnapped, "If I tell hia he'll only make me move back to the major family house and I don't like being there. Everyone just acts weird around me," the boy pouted.

"Or my cousins are just really weird and you're the only normal person there," Macau said matter of factly.

"I think all you Teerapanyakuls are just weird."

"Leave me and my brother out of this..." Macau paused a moment thinking about all the odd things his brother does sometimes, "Actually you can bring Vegas into this," he added shaking his head trying to unsee the weird things he's seen in Vegas' room.

Porchay couldn't help laughing at the expression on Macau's face while the boy frantically shook his head. His phone suddenly began vibrating in his pocket. It was Som. The phone call consisted of a bunch of "mhms" and "okays". Once the call was disconnected Chay hopped to his feet and looked down at Macau who looked back at him in confusion, "We're going out," the boy said.

"Now?"

"Yes, come with me. Na?" Chay bent down to be a face level with Macau before puffing his cheeks and blinking rapidly.

"I'll go with you if you agree never to do that again," Macau said trying not to laugh.

The boy went back to his room to shower and get dressed settling for a black tight-fitting T-shirt and khaki cargo pants pairing them with Panda dunks and a silver dog tag. When he got back to Chay's room he found the boy sitting in his room in a pair of black cargo pants and his jewellery. The boy was leaning close to a small mirror doing something Macau did not understand to his eyes. The boy didn't speak because it seemed that he needed to concentrate on what he was doing and Macau didn't feel like getting yelled at, "What are you doing?" he finally asked when Chay sat back up to study his handy work.

"Putting on eyeliner, want some?" Chay said turning around to face Macau.

"No?" he said eyeing the small bottle on Chay's desk next to a small bag filled with brushes and other things Macau always saw girls putting on their faces during classes, "Imagine how tragic it would be if I looked prettier than you. It pains me to think on it really," he added sighing dramatically.

Chay rolled his eyes and turned around to finish doing his makeup and Macau just sat on the bed and watched as Chay put random things he didn't need on his face. When he was done the boy turned around and looked at Macau, "Am I pretty?" he asked blinking a thousand times like he had earlier.

"No," Macau answered smiling at the boy who just narrowed his eyes before getting out of his seat.

Chay walked up to Macau and leaned down until their faces were merely centimetres apart. The boy blinked a few times as he stared into Macau's dark eyes. He had planned on making Macau say he looked pretty by getting in his face and bugging him but there he was caught in his own stupid scheme trying to breathe. Macau held his eye contact a moment before trailing his eyes over Chay's face. The boy now had glitter on his eyelids and his cheeks were slightly rosier than usual and his lips were also a little more pink than usual. That's where Macau's eyes lingered.

Macau suddenly gripped his phone trying not to drop it or touch Chay. He bit on his bottom lip and drew a shaky breath to calm himself, "Pretty," he finally whispered dragging his eyes back to Chay's.

The other boy cleared his throat and blinked himself out of the trance he was in for a moment. "Yeah, I know," he said scurrying away from Macau to his wardrobe.

Chay pulled on a cropped white tank top before wearing a short-sleeved button-down over it. He avoided looking at Macau while he got dressed only looking back at him once he had pulled his shoes on. Macau seemed to be deeply focused on something he was doing on his phone but as soon as Chay looked at him he looked up, "Done?"

Chay nodded and grabbed his key card and wallet from the table, "Let's go."

Macau had asked his bodyguards to bring his car around because he didn't want to leave his motorbike at the bar should Chay get black-out drunk and they need to take a taxi home. The car however was not what Macau was expecting them to bring around. The lady working at the reception had given him the keys to the car Khun Korn had gotten him for his eighteenth birthday. While the Discovery was the car he wanted he hated driving it because it came from Korn. But Chay seemed to like it so the boy hopped in behind the wheel and drove to pulse.

When the boys walked into the booth Som had told Chay she was in they were welcomed by a loud squeal as the girl pulled Chay into a tight hug cooing about how pretty he looked and how much she wanted to put him into her pocket and run away with him. She was clearly already a couple of drinks in because when she finally took notice of Macau she 'whispered' very loudly, "Who is this hot piece of candy and where have you been hiding him?"

Macau tried to ignore her what with being accustomed to people reacting like that to him until Som grabbed his hand and made eyes at him, "I'm Som, nice to meet ya."

"Macau," he said smiling awkwardly at him.

"Ooh, I wanna visit China one day. Are you Chinese?"

Macau must have looked extremely uncomfortable because one of the other girls in the booth pulled her off Macau and apologised for the girl's behaviour while Chay glared daggers at Som. There were four other people in the booth who introduced themselves as Luna, Bank, Tiffy, and Dao. Macau nodded as they introduced themselves before turning to have their own side conversation. A few drinks in the group had begun talking about people they go to school with and Macau just watched them all interact or rather, Macau watched how Porchay interacted with them. The boy looked so carefree and happy and he was smiling and laughing and it made Macau feel all tingly as he listened to the boy's goofy chuckle.

Macau had left the booth to go to the bathroom and came back to a sight that made him see red. Nam was sitting in the booth next to Porchay with his arm draped around the boy's shoulder. Chay didn't say anything but he was trying to shimmy away from the man while his friends giggled brainlessly at the things he was saying. "Chay," Macau said still at the door drawing attention to himself.

When Chay saw him he shot out of his seat and away from Nam, "Macau I wanna go dance, let's go." the boy grabbed Macau's wrist and turned him around but before they could walk out Nam decided to acknowledge Macau.

"Fancy seeing you here. I didn't know you knew this bunch, they don't seem up your alley," he crooned.

"Som, Chay and I will be leaving now. It was nice meeting you guys," he smiled weakly at the group and they all mumbled pleasantries.

"But the fun was just beginning," Nam whined, "This kid never got to try these vitamins the last time he was here," the older man pouted.

At his words, Chay's grip on Macau's wrist tightened. He had hoped never to see Nam again but there he was, offering him pills which he probably would have accepted had it been two or three months earlier but Chay had moved passed that. He was doing better and he wasn't going to let some creepy man derail him, "I'm good." he glared at the man, "Som, get home safe okay? I'll see you on Monday?"

"Bye sweetie," Som said waving her entire arm above her head.

It probably wasn't a good idea to leave her there but Chay really just wanted to be away from Nam and forget that he had just met him again. Chay tugged on Macau's hand who was glaring daggered at Nam and the pair walked out of the booth. Once outside and on the crowded dance floor Chay suddenly stopped walking and bowed his head. It was dark in the club with the occasional flash from the pulsing lights. You're okay Chay. It's just a bad memory, the boy repeated in his head as he stood still holding Macau's hand. He finally let go of Macau's hand and looked up to find the other boy looking down at him. The boy was unmoving as he watched Chay. The sudden awareness of the fact that Macau was looking at him caused a pink flush to run up Chay's face and neck and in that moment he was grateful for the darkness in the club.

Macau suddenly stepped closer and leaned down next to Chay's ear, "You said you wanted to dance."

Chay kept his eyes on Macau as he spoke with his breath catching in his throat at the sudden closeness, "Dance with me," the boy added and then he pulled away and looked down at Chay, waiting.

The boy nodded slowly still looking into Macau's eyes and for a moment it felt like time froze. All the anxiety Chay had been feeling moments before had dissolved and was replaced by want. The only thing he could hear was his heartbeat hammering in his ears and he stepped closer to Macau. Maybe it was the lighting in the room or maybe it was because Chay had had a few drinks but he thought he saw Macau shudder. Chay grabbed Macau's hand which seemed to fit perfectly with his. He had never noticed it before but now that he did he liked smiling at their hands. Chay then began to sway to the beat of the song and Macau didn't miss a beat falling into beat with him.

They danced to the first song and then the second and then Porchay's arms found their way around Macau's neck and Macau's hands to Chay's waist. Chay had stopped caring about what was happening around him and he didn't seem to care that he was no longer dancing in time to the music and he kept his head on Macau's shoulder breathing in the other boy's scent.
