Chapter 65 - Tense

"My apologies on your loss, King Dane, but my soon-to-be-wife and I will leave you to mourn." Quill said, an edge his tone.

  "My loss?" King Dane asked confused, and Quill nodded. "Oh, right. The old man being stabbed before my very eyes." King Dane shrugged.

  "You don't seem to be too upset." Quill comments, his hand sliding down to my waist, his fingers on my hip. 

  A strange feeling comes over me, and I feel my eyebrows furrow, moving closer to Quill's warmth. His presence soothes me, and I wrap my own arm around him.

  "Of course not. The old bastard wasn't even like a father to me. He was better off like this, since  the crimes he's committed were even worse." King Dane replies, and Quill stiffens, though he keeps his face composed.

  "Well...justice was served."
