"Good morning, Professor," I greeted Professor Shakti in his office, a sense of familiarity washing over me.
"Oh, Nirmay. It's been a while since I last saw you. What brings you here today?" Professor Shakti inquired with a smile, his eyes curious and welcoming.
"Don't tell me you've already shaped your soul?" he added with a hint of amusement, knowing full well how difficult it was to achieve such a feat.
"You're right, professor," I replied. "I was successful in giving my soul a human form, and I even added some additional features. So, I've come to you for further guidance."
"You finally remembered to ask for my guidance after almost a year. You sure like to jest," he chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Anyway, there are only a few days left until the conclusion of the second year. You are already level 4 and ready to enter level 5, which means you can enter the 3rd year class, of course, after you pass the theoretical exams."
"I see," I replied, my mind slightly curious . "Do you mean I need to reach a certain level to be promoted to the next year?"
"Yes," Professor Shakti nodded. "Many students have even repeated a year for more than three years. After all, promoting to the next year won't be useful for them."
"Alright," I said, taking in his words. "When are the theoretical exams going to be held, and when does the 3rd year class start?"
"Well, you can return home for now. You will be notified when the time comes," he said, using the old joke as only a few days were remaining until the new year. "There isn't anything to celebrate in the new year anyway, except visiting your family."
"Okay," I replied, nodding my head in understanding. "Thank you for your help, Professor," I said, before taking my leave.
As I gazed upon his unique sea serpent soul, I realized that I possessed the ability to see souls with my third eye. It seemed that Professor was unable to perceive the souls of others, but if he was able to, he would be shocked to find a human(me) without a soul. I smirked at the thought. Perhaps seeing the souls of others required a much higher level or was simply impossible.
As I pondered further, I came to the conclusion that creating a soul for myself would aid me in comprehending Fantasy and maybe even the Rules.
I was to leave for home today and meet my sister along the way. It had been two long years since we last saw each other.
Since I had no luggage, I obtained permission to leave the university and just exited through the gate, which was guarded by two senior students, Cassius included. I couldn't help but wonder why they were protecting the entrance, as the barrier wasn't connected to the gate nor was it the only way to enter and exit. It seemed pretty useless, so why the gatekeepers?
As I flew above the lush greenery of the forest, I couldn't help but admire its beauty. Eventually, I reached the city and made my way down to the ground. The use of metapowers was strictly prohibited within the city, except in emergencies, as there were numerous sensors and automated weapons set up to kill any violators.
I hailed a driverless taxi and headed towards the restaurant where my sister was waiting for me. Unfortunately, the restaurant's menu had few items that I enjoyed. I couldn't blame the restaurant, as the human civilization in this city was advanced in most areas except for culinary and astronomical pursuits.
I ordered some fried chicken and a giant glass of soda. One of the best things about being a Numinators was that we didn't have to worry about ailments like diabetes and other conditions resulting from eating junk food.
As the sun shone down in its full glory, I couldn't help but appreciate the ubiquitous spring within the city, which made it quite pleasant to explore.
The restaurant was mostly empty, with just a few customers. The staff was human, oddly.
Finally, my sister entered through the automatic door, searching for me. I waved my hand and gestured for her to come over. She sat opposite me, and we both smiled at each other. It was a bit awkward seeing each other after such a long time.
"You should order something," I suggested. "I remember you liked Ramen. It's available here."
"Really?"
"Yes. This restaurant is known for its extensive menu."
She placed her order, and we continued to chat.
"So, I heard that you've been accepted into the Academia Primordia," my sister said.
"Yes. I will be starting the third-year class next year."
"Wow. You're really talented. To think that you'll be promoted so quickly. What level are you at now?"
"Level 4," I replied, not wanting to say too much and shock her further.
"What's your level?" I asked.
"Level 3. I can't believe I was surpassed by my little brother, even after receiving Lineage training."
"What's Lineage training?" I inquired.
"I'll tell you about it when we get home," she replied.
After we finished eating, we left the restaurant and I asked, "Should we take the route through the forest? Let's race to our home."
"It's dangerous outside the city," my sister cautioned.
"There's nothing to worry about. The outskirts of the forest should be completely cleansed," I reassured her.
"No means no. What if something happens? We shouldn't take the risk."
"You're no fun," I complained.
We eventually arrived at the train station after catching up with each other along the way.
The trains were punctual as always and dropped us to our destination in less than an hour.
At home.
Our parents weren't home at this time of the day and Mr.cat was on his usual spot, the couch in the living room.
I went straight to take a shower and sister started playing with Mr.cat, though Mr.cat looked like he didn't want to play and looked annoyed but sister didn't let him escape.
I came down after taking a shower and found my sister sitting and watching TV with Mr.cat on her lap.
" I am going to visit my friends." I announced before taking off. I could hear "Take care." In the background as I ran out of the house.
I had already called my friends and called them to the abandoned Factory on the outskirts of the sector.
