The twenty- one year old, now full-time working citizen bounced her way to her workplace.
Luna's POV
*
Consumed by and radiating raw, unrefined thrill and bubbly energy at 7am has become a routine in my life for weeks now.
For six years, my dialy routine was restricted to leaving the rooftop apartment by sunrise, work multiple part times, run errands in the slumps, encounter troubles, and sometimes stray to the city in search of a job and receiving judging stares from the posh city people.
But for the last month, things have been different. I did not just stray into the city in search of jobs, I had a daily destination, the place of my full-time employment.
I skipped past the bus stop, immediately retracing my footsteps as I waited at the stop, impatience controlling my body movements as my eyes continously stared at the time at the stop, my faded pink vans fidgeting on the graveled floor.
The bus creaked to a stop in front of me and I shoved my way in through the mass of people, scanning my card and grabbing onto the dangling arm supports as the vehicle sped into the city.
A few minutes of the occasional push and shove and the bus settled at it's next stop, more than half of it's occupants flooding out and around.
I jumped down the large bus, immediately skipping my way to my workplace, the reason for my morning smiles and the first real bright experience my pathetic life has had, my lighthouse.
The building stood tall and bright in the morning sun, high windows reflecting the rays and glinting in it's wake, the bold lighted name at it's top impossible to miss, "Shen".
This was just one of the branches of the world wide food chain controlled by the oldest son, Shen Yi.
I took a deep breath, brushing back my tousled hair and stepping through the entrance, going past the receptionist in the crowded lobby and scanning my worker's pass, sliding past and getting into an empty elevator.
Pushing the button of the fifth floor, a hand stopped the elevator doors from closing shut as a man stepped into the elevator. Silence reigned while I tried my best to go unnoticed by sticking to the elevator walls.
He tilted his head in my direction, nodding slightly in acknowledgement "I've not seen you around, first day?"
I nodded in response, ending the conversation quickly would save me further problems.
I was ignored every single day I've worked here, more like never noticed and I'm beginning to think of myself as an expert at blending in but not in the right way.
Just like a wallflower I lived, and not the pretty, classy ones you stop to stare at occasionally, the types you walk past without noticing or stomp over, although I prefer the first, not being noticed or acknowledged meant a peaceful work life.
The elevator dinged open at my floor and a smile played over my face in anticipation of today's end, it was payday.
