Chapter 2 - Chapter 1 - Eden Alaister

Where was I?

I was inside a room lit by what I could describe as a candle because of how dark it was. I could feel my whole body being held however how was it even possible for that?

I am 176cm tall and I weigh 67.4kg so there shouldn't be anyone capable of holding me with a single hand.

I opened my eyes again to see a woman with pale white skin holding me. The woman had a heartwarming smile on her face. Her dark charcoal hair draped down on her white clothing.

The woman then handed me to someone. The woman also smiled at me but I felt more affection towards this woman than the previous one.

The woman's hands felt soft. Her bright gold hair reflected off the candlelight as her deep blue eyes stared at me. I noticed that my whole hand was around the size of the woman's finger.

Wait…I'm a baby! What the hell happened?

I looked at my hands. They were extremely tiny. I was used to my previous large hands that I had before.

Did I reincarnate?

I most probably did because there was no other explanation. This couldn't be a dream because it felt too real.

The woman who previously held me spoke to the woman who could be my mother in a language I couldn't understand. I knew seven languages and this wasn't any of them.

I then heard a door open and then shut. I then heard heavy footsteps coming towards my direction. I then heard another voice, this time it was a male. Again, I couldn't understand what the man said but I soon felt myself in the air again. My body was then turned and what I saw in front of me was a man.

The man had a light brown skin tone and a thick brown beard which didn't seem to have been groomed. The man had short brown hair and dark green eyes. The man had a pleasant smile on his face and he seemed joyful.

I slowly felt a smile also creep onto my face as I saw the man. I didn't know who it was yet I felt like this. This must be my father then.

How did I look?

My father then spoke to my mother again. This time he had a serious expression on his face. My mother spoke again, her voice sounded pleasant and calm almost as if she was telling my father that nothing will happen.

What was happening?

* * * * * *

I was now one-years-old. I have gained the ability to walk and I now have grasped an understanding of this world's language although I haven't learnt much about the world. One thing I did learn about this world was that it seemed to resemble what I used to call the medieval period.

I cannot recall what my mother and father were speaking about when I was born but I don't think it was anything important.

My name is Eden Alaister. I didn't know my height in exact measurements because this world hasn't advanced to that level yet or my parents didn't have the money for it but I was around a third of the size of the doors in the house. I had my father's brown hair and light brownish skin tone and my mother's deep blue eyes. I did look slightly chubby however that is to be expected at my age and I still have some time ahead of me.

My father is a farmer and makes a living off of his crops and cattle however it didn't explain why we had such a large house compared to everyone else's. My mother didn't work however she did do the necessities such as cleaning the house, doing the laundry and saving me whenever my instincts tried to get me killed—I'm sure with all of that, my mother seemed to work as hard as my father.

I would usually spend my days exploring the house because I wasn't allowed to leave the house unless it was with my mother or father. My mother had an ample amount of books in the house which was interesting considering that we were "peasants".

I suspected my parents that they were hiding something from me and it wasn't only their real names.

I found out from one of the people in the village that my father's name is Adam Alaister and my mother's name is Leona Alaister. My father somehow had such an ordinary name while my mother had a name I would've probably never thought of.

My father was extremely strong and was said to be the same strength as five normal men—according to one of the villagers, although this information is yet to be confirmed.

I did miss my past life however there wasn't much I could do. I cannot simply return however it is because I want to return that I try to learn more and more about this world.

I also spent my time trying to strengthen my body. My mother didn't allow me to condition my body as I did in my past life so the only thing I could do while my mother was watching was run around the house until I dropped, even that I couldn't do as my mother would run towards me faster than I could react and hold me in her arms.

As I hadn't unlocked the ability to speak yet, I couldn't explain to her that I needed to become stronger just like my father so I can explore this world more. I'm sure she would understand the first part but what if I had told her why I want to? How would she react?

I had no interest in lingering on those thoughts because I have made up my mind to never tell her that I have come from another world.

I also need to meet other people before my

social skills run out. I have a feeling that if I do not speak to other people, I would lose my social skills and then I would have a hard time making friends.

I still don't know how schools work here or if they even exist but I still need to make some sort of friends. Boredom will one day come to me when I have nothing else to explore in the house.

As soon as I gain the ability to speak I shall tell my mother and hopefully, she will allow me to meet others my age.

I walked outside one day with my father. I held my father's hand with my finger as we strolled through the village. Perhaps my thoughts had reached home that I wanted to meet other people.

My father introduced me to many elders and people he considered his friends. If only I could ask my father where are the children my age however it then came to me that I am around these people's age…well not exactly.

You could say my soul is around their age but I didn't even believe that reincarnation was a thing. I had spent my time as an atheist until I came to this world where I then had to think about my ideologies.

I might look to be one-years-old however I am actually 23 years old.

"How old is he now?" An elder asked.

"He's only a year old." My father replied.

I wasn't interested in what they spoke about

because it was the usual asking my age and praising my irresistible looks. By now I had grown used to it but it was annoying to hear the same thing over and over again.

Something then caught my attention. I started at it in awe. Something I had loved was now in this world. I now realised that this was normal in this world however in my past life where it was the era of peace, this place was extremely rare to see.

A blacksmith shop.

I wondered how they would even forge weapons from that shop considering the village isn't extremely wealthy.

I pointed at the shop and smiled as I did. I then looked at my father and looked at the shop and did this until I had caught my father's attention. My father then realised what I had meant and then bid his farewells to his friends and the elders before walking towards the blacksmith shop.

We walked into the shop and a person greeted us.

"Oh, hello there, Adam." A man spoke. The person seemed to be in his late teen years however the stress marks on the man's face made him seem like he was in his thirties. "Ah, you've brought Eden with you as well."

I smiled at the man and he smiled back before looking at my father again.

The man had a lean build. He had lighter skin tone than my father but it was darker than my mother's. He also had red curly hair and light green eyes. He wore a brown medieval-type linen shirt and a pair of dark brown trousers.

"So what is it this time? Broke your sword again?" The man spoke almost as if he was annoyed.

"Eden pointed at your shop so I came in." My father replied.

"So Eden wanted to come here? Should I make him a sword?" The man made a joke which made my father chuckle.

"You can make him a sword when he's older, Decimus!" My father and the man laughed.

Was this a joke I haven't yet unlocked the ability to understand?

My father put me on the floor before looking back at Decimus.

"Give him a sword and let's see how his swordsmanship is."

I couldn't tell whether my father was joking or not but Decimus had gone through with it. Decimus handed me a sword around the same height as the doors in the house. He then grabbed my hands and positioned them on the sword.

"Now swing it!" My father exclaimed.

The sword didn't seem to be heavy. In fact, I could hold it with one hand and still swing it. My father and Decimus were completely silent when I started to swing the sword with ease with a single hand.

It seems that some of the strength I had in my past life is now in this life and considering how light the sword was I probably had all of my strength.

"Adam, your son is incredibly strong!" Decimus exclaimed as he stared at me in awe.

My father then crouched down and picked me up. My father's friends had somehow overheard us and had burst through the door. My father then lifted me in the air.

"My son will be the greatest swordsman in the world!" My father yelled as his friends cheered and chanted.

When we had finally gone home, my mother ran towards me as soon as we entered the house.

"Where were you?" My mother asked my father. My father smiled and then answered proudly.

"Our son can lift a sword with one hand!"

"What!!" My mother squealed. "He's only one, Adam!"

"Exactly! He's going to be the greatest swordsman in the world!"

I couldn't help but smile as my parents stared at me with pride. I don't know why but it warmed my heart to see them smile. I had always done things normal people couldn't do however this time was somehow different.

"I'm also pregnant again!"

The house went silent. I looked at my father whose eyes were locked on my mother. My father then cheered and the house became lively again.

After a little more than nine months my sister was born. Her name is Elaine Alaister and from the moment I saw her, I couldn't help but feel that I had to protect her no matter what.
