Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Night Before The Battle

The guild had a meeting where they talked about the current situation—about a catastrophic dragon approaching their kingdom at alarming speed. As Loki and Rupert agreed, Loki was assigned as the commander of an army consisting of 200 adventurers from the class rank of E to A.

Although classes A and S were only one level apart, class S adventurers were far superior to class A because class S adventurers were leagues of their own. Class S adventurers were nation-level individuals that even the army of class A could not even fathom fighting against. They were the best of the best of Earthish adventurers.

and came to the conclusion of intercepting the mighty dragon before it could reach the kingdom.

After that, the adventurers went home and prepared for their battle, assuming that many of them could no longer be back alive, especially knowing how dangerous their incoming enemy was.

The day had ended, and darkness once again dominated the sky. The gentle wind blew from the wide grassland located at the back of Milfy's mansion. Loki closed his eyes and felt the touch of the cold night wind. His bangs slowly swayed in the wind, revealing a gentle image.

Loki was sitting inside a white patio made of white chiseled stone with a blue-painted roof. He opened his eyes and slowly sighed.

"That was a deep sigh." A familiar voice said.

Loki darted his eyes to the source of the gentle voice and found Milfy staring at him with her elegant sky-blue eyes. The gentle wind blew her back-length silver hair, which she set aside in a very graceful manner. Then she smiled at Loki, gaining all of his attention in an instant.

She walked toward Loki and sat at the window he was sitting at. She was less than a meter in front of him. "The wind tonight is quite cold, don't you think?" She asked, starting a conversation.

'I would be cold too if I were wearing what you are wearing. You are wearing almost a bikini, lady—not that I am complaining. I mean, I have no problem with it... Nothing at all.' Loki thought to himself. He faced Milfy. "Yeah, it's relaxing."

Milfy leaned on the frame of the window on the patio while her eyes were still on Loki. "You just arrived in this kingdom, and now you are about to face a dangerous foe just to protect us. A dragon... Does it worry you?"

'Of course, I am about to fight a freaking dragon! It worries me like shit!' Loki thought.  "The only people who have no fear are madmen. I am no madman... But I am molded to face a very strong foe—an enemy that is so strong even the gods would tremble in its wake, and dragons would seem weak in comparison... Simply put, I know I can win because a dragon is not my end game."

Milfy's eyes of admiration brightened up. "I know you can win; unlike many of the people of this kingdom, I have already seen what you are capable of."

'Believe me, lady, you haven't seen even 1% of it.' Loki thought.  He inhaled and exhaled, and his eyes and Milfy's stared at each other as silence dominated between them for a few seconds. "Anyway, how is Rika? She's still sleeping?"

"I think she will wake up tomorrow morning. She's quite tired out, it seems." Milfy answered, then, a mischievous smile slowly formed on her lips. "You completely exhausted her last night."

Loki sat up and cleared his throat. "Pardon me, come again?" He asked, making sure that he heard it right.

Half of Milfy's lips slowly rose, seemingly amused by the expression he got from him, which, from her perspective, Loki rarely showed. "I am no child, Loki. I know Rika very well, and I can see and feel her every change. It started with the way she looks at you since the day she met you, and now... of how she interacts with you." She crossed her arms. "And knowing her free-spirited personality, it won't be a surprise if she was the first one who made the move... Luckily for her, you accepted."

'Is—is she going to kick me out now? I mean—that's understandable.' Loki settled his two feet down and stared at Milfy with sincerity in his eyes. "She's kind, sweet, and lovable... Although her stubbornness is one of the reasons we ended up in this relationship, I would say that is one of her charms. I am happy with every moment of our relationship... and I regret nothing about it."

Milfy paused for a second, then slowly nodded. "What Rika said was right; you are stoic and rarely show any soft emotions... But you can be soft too, just like now."

Loki slowly tilted his head and furrowed his eyebrows. "Ah..."

"She talks a lot about you; since we met you, the only thing coming out of her mouth is your name. I know about her feelings about you, and she knows mine... We also agreed that when the time comes, we don't have a problem sharing." Milfy stood up and walked toward Loki. She gently put her hand on his shoulder and leaned toward Loki's ears. "The disadvantage of being a prim woman... I wish I was as bold as Rika."

Loki looked up, and the first thing he saw was Milfy's alluring eyes, seemingly dazed by her desire—it was always there; she was just very good at hiding it—her overwhelming lust for Loki that had been building up within her since the day they had met.

"Milfy?"  Loki said and touched Milfy's hand. He instantly felt the burning heat of her hand. 'Fuck! Don't tell me you too.' Loki screamed inside his head.

Milfy pulled her hand away from Loki. She looked down and didn't move for a few seconds, and the moment her face rose, her face that was filled with lust disappeared, and she returned to her formal demeanor. She slowly exhaled and expressed a gentle smile. "Good luck with your quest, Loki." She spoke, her voice returning to normal. "Please take care of Rika for me."

Loki nodded. "Don't worry about her; I will keep her safe."

"That's reassuring to hear," Milfy said, starting to walk away from him. "Good night... Loki."

Milfy was doing a very good job resisting it... But for how long?

"Good night." He replied and watched Milfy disappear from his sight. Then he rubbed his palm on his face. 'Fuck! Fuck! That was close!' He screamed inside his head. 'Okay, Loki, you need to calm down. I have a big fight I need to face... I need to focus on that first.' He said convincing himself while trying to cool his body down. 'Damn it. Focus your head—not that head!'
