Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Catastrophic Threat

Another morning arrived in the kingdom of Satirica, the double door of the guild hall opened as Loki and Rika entered. Loki was wearing his new clothes while Rika was wearing her adventurer gear. Rika was a little bit swayed due to the lack of sleep, on the other hand, Loki still had a lot of energy in him.

Earlier that morning, both of them were getting watchful gazes coming from Milfy. Although she didn't say a thing, her narrowing eyes and how she observed Loki and Rika indicated that she was already speculating about their relationship... and just like always, Milfy didn't show any negative reaction about it.

Rika was planning to take a rest day but a piece of huge news was delivered to them and they were asked to go to the guild hall, especially Loki, the newest Class S adventurer of Earthish.

"Rika, Loki," Ariel called as she walked toward them, following her was Lian.

"Good morning, Ariel, Lian," Rika replied and weakly smiled at Ariel and Lian.

Ariel furrowed her eyebrows. "What happened to you? You look tired." Ariel asked.

"I just haven't got enough sleep," Rika answered.

"You didn't get enough sleep?" Ariel asked and alternated her eyes between Loki and Rika.

Loki cleared his throat. "I told her to just stay in the house and rest but she didn't listen... She can be extremely stubborn sometimes." He commented. "Anyway, what is this sudden meeting all about?"

Ariel gave a final glance at Rika's sleepy but somehow blooming face. Ariel notices the more satisfied expression on Rika's face. "It's about the report of the scouts stationed in the southern boundaries of the kingdom." She said and darted her eyes to Loki. "I heard there is a certain powerful monster on its way toward this kingdom."

Loki slowly nodded. "I see. It must be  a very serious threat for all the available adventurers to call." He said and wandered his eyes through the massive crowd of adventurers scattered throughout the guild hall. Most of those adventurers were looking at him with attentive eyes.

Loki's attention was taken when one of the clerks of the guild stood in front of him and bowed her head.

"Mister Loki Morningwood, the guild master is waiting for you in his office." The clerk said.

"I understand," Loki replied and looked at Rika, Ariel, and Lian looking at him. "I'll be back." He said and followed the clerk, leaving the three behind.

Ariel followed Loki's back with her eyes that slowly narrowed as she darted her eyes to Rika. "You should have stayed home if you are that tired," Ariel said with concern in her voice. "It's not like someone would snatch your dashing—prince charming material Loki from you if you got separated from him in an hour."

Rika's face turned red. "Ha? What made you think of that?"

"Have you already forgotten? We have been together since we were young, do you really think you could hide it from us? You are pretty obvious, you are really bad at hiding something... Right, Lian?" Ariel darted her eyes to Lian who just nodded slowly.

"I'll rest after the meeting is done," Rika said.

"And also, there is a red mark on top of your lips—and that's definitely not a mosquito bite," Ariel said with a smirk. "Or it must be a mosquito... A tall, black-haired, and vigorous mosquito."

On the other hand, Rika didn't answer and covered her face with her hands due to embarrassment. Lian on the other hand, looked away while her face was all red—she was not used to such topics.

Loki was guided by the clerk toward the office of the guild master. He entered the room and found the guild master standing in front of the window, he was watching the scenery outside with great concern in his eyes. The door closed as the clerk left the two of them alone. Rupert's eyes darted to Loki who was standing in front of the door.

"Mister Loki Morningwood..." He started as he walked toward Loki. "Thank you for coming right away. Please take a seat."

"It is my duty to," Loki replied. He sat on the sofa in front of the door and watched Rupert sit in front of him.

"I know you are the type who hates beating around the bush, so let me disclose this topic to you," Rupert said and connected both of his hands while on top of his knees. "A Class S monster is currently on a rampage—wreaking havoc in its wake. And now, it's already on its way to the capital."

Loki leaned backward. "A class S monster. What type of monster are we talking about?"

"A catastrophe-level—a Blue Fire Dragon. This kind of dragon is widely known to be extremely difficult to stop and can trample an entire kingdom in a matter of days. And every time a monster like this emerges, we usually need to deploy at least two Class S-ranked adventurers. In this case... two class S adventurers are already on their way to aid us. However, given how fast the dragon travels, the dragon will reach the capital in less than two days. I don't think the two Class S adventurers will arrive on time." Rupert leaned forward. "We need your help to slay or even delay the dragon until the reinforcement comes."

Loki put his hand on his chin. He contemplated for a few seconds, then slowly nodded. "Then, let me deal with that monster."

Rupert raised his head with a big smile on his face. "I knew you would say that." He stood up.  "And I won't deny that it is a good chance for you to prove your legitimacy as a Class S adventurer."

Loki narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean?"

Rupert walked toward the window. "Although the appraiser's reading is widely known as accurate, we can't avoid some suspicion about your abilities. We cannot blame the people... To be a Class S level individual is something others could only fantasize about, and seeing you can do it easily could naturally cause them to doubt if your power is true."

Loki slowly nodded. 'He got a point.' He thought.

"It is time for you to demonstrate your capabilities to the adventurers under your rank," Rupert said and looked at Loki with confidence in him. "Lead this mission, Loki Morningwood, and stop the catastrophe-level monster heading to this kingdom. Show the adventurers of this guild what a Class S adventurer is made of."

A smirk slowly formed on Loki's face. "It can be helped then... I just hope they are prepared for what I am about to show them." Loki stood up. "Because I am going to blow their minds."
