Scars to your Beautiful - Alessia Cara
Everly's POV:
HE WAS LOOKING at me with a sinister smile on his face that shook me to the core and made me visibly shiver, which he clearly liked because it only made his smirk grow.
"Did you miss me, cupcake?" He asked with mock concern using his nickname for me which made me cringe slightly.
He took two steps towards me while I took three back. This went on till I felt my back hit the wall, which meant there was nowhere I could go again. He placed his hand on the wall behind me making his breath to fan the side of my face which brought a shaky breath out of me.
No words could describe how terrified I felt but I managed to keep my emotions at bay. And I knew that statement I made earlier had only added fuel to the fire, but I just couldn't keep my mouth shut. That's just how I was. In the worst situations, I would always find myself saying something that could possibly get me killed.
He wrapped his long slender fingers around my neck as he sniffed me like a dog. Anyone who looked at Josh__ my present abductor __wouldn't believe he was who he was at first sight. He had that hot playboy charm, with the looks to go with it. But we all know that the devil can come to you as the most beautiful person you've ever met... and would drag you to the depths of hell.
"I asked you a question." He growled as he tightened his hold on my neck. The fact that he walked into this room years after everything and pretended like we were some long lost friends with benefits brought an instant chill down my spine.
"Yes," I managed to croak out. My eyes were beginning to water and I felt my world spinning around me as I slipped in and out of consciousness.
The door slammed open and I swear I heard the wood split. The last thing I heard were muffled voices and the release on my neck before I felt myself falling to the ground, then everything went black.
Hayden's POV:
"Dude, this party is awesome," Dylan, my best friend, shouted over the loud music.
"Yeah, thanks," I absentmindedly said as a somewhat familiar face caught my attention. I immediately realized that that was Dylan's girlfriend, Anna, or something like that.
And there was another girl by her side but I couldn't see her face, because her back was to me, only her waist length hair that stopped right above her ass.
Someone's voice snapped me out of my reverie.
"Hey, babe," Anna said to Dylan as she reached us, then kissed him on the cheek. They immediately started their sappy romance shit, not even noticing I was still there __ or maybe didn't care. Yeah, I think it's the latter. I dramatically cleared my throat to signal my presence and that seemed to work because they both turned to me.
"Oh...hey Hayden," Anna said sweetly as she smiled at me. I really didn't feel like being nice to people right now but she practically forced my to be nice to her because she was being nice to me. Although it was hard for me to keep the nasty comment that was about to spew out of my mouth in, I tried my best to swallow it back in because of the 'intimidating' look her boyfriend was currently giving me.
"Hey, Anna... How's your... friend?" She usually spoke about her bestfriend whenever she hung out with Dylan and I __ or more importantly, Dylan. I was still surprised that I hadn't met this girl, even though Anna and Dylan had been dating for quite a while.
"Even though I have no idea why you want to know about her..." She trailed off. And I now realized how weird I sounded by asking her about her friend that I haven't once spoken to. "...she's good though. She came along with me today, but she's somewhere around the bar now." She said as she turned to face the mass of bodies swaying on the dance floor to a song that was playing. "She's right around...there," She pointed in a certain direction of where her friend supposedly was.
I looked in the direction she was pointing at but I couldn't get a proper view of her. At least I could see her hair that stopped right above her ass and the way her hips were curved because of the tight jeans she wore.
I looked at Anna but I noticed she was already looking at me with a very smug look on her face.
"What?" I asked somewhat rudely.
"Absolutely nothing."
I returned my attention back to the brunette across the room while Anna continued her couple shit with Dylan who wasn't paying any attention to our conversation but to his phone.
I searched for a certain brunette but I couldn't find her. I had only seen some pictures of her from Anna but I would definitely recognize her if I spotted her. I searched around for her 'til I finally found her heading upstairs.
I was about to follow her __ even though I know how delusional I sound __ but I saw a guy, a very strange guy going after her. And me being the nice guy I was __ or maybe just really horny__ I went after them.
I reached the hallway where there were multiple doors at, and the difficult task was to find the room they were in.
I started checking from the first door by my left, which was mine, but as I tried opening the door, it was locked so I brought out the spare key from my pocket and unlocked the door.
When I pushed the door open, the sight was enough to make my blood boil. The guy I saw was the same guy that followed Anna's friend upstairs which meant that she was the person that this guy was presently choking against the wall.
And I was right because immediately he turned and gave me a stupid sadistic smile, I saw her and it looked like she was about to pass out any second now.
As I entered the room fully, he threw her body to the floor with more force than was required. She would definitely have a heavy migraine when she wakes up. I left her body on the floor and went back to him.
"What the hell do you want?" He growled in an ugly voice that was probably meant to intimidate me, but he failed miserably.
His physique was the worst part in this situation. As my 6 feet 4 inches self stood over his barely 6 feet self, I knew he was done for.
"I should be asking you that," I said calmly even though we both knew I was anything but calm.
His eyes widened ever so slightly but it was gone as fast as it came, but I saw it and dumb was I pleased with myself.
"Well, what the hell do you want from her?" I asked furiously when he hadn't answered my question.
He just looked at her, turned around to face me, and gave me one hell of a dirty 'smirk'. That was when I knew he was about to say or do something stupid.
"Oh!" He started like he was about to say something amazingly smart. "She's your whore now," He said then started laughing to a joke only he found funny.
Then I snapped.
Before I could think twice, my fist landed on his jaw which caused his face to snap to the side, disgust and unknown rage fueling my drive. I pushed him to the floor, my punches not ceasing even for a second as I mindlessly threw punch after punch at his face till someone pulled me off him.
Probably because he was already unconscious. Or dead.
"Dude, calm down! He's already out from all the blows," Dylan said as he held me back. I looked behind him and I noticed he wasn't alone. He was with Anna.
"Oh my..." Anna didn't complete her sentence as she cupped her mouth and her teary eyes focused on something in front of me. Her friend's body.
"Ev," She croaked out as she slowly walked over to the body and crouched in front of her friend. By now, the adrenaline had worn off and I was left breathing heavily with my knuckles stinging horribly.
"Do you know who he is?" Dylan asked Anna, referring to the unconscious man on the floor. My eyes widened slightly because I also was curious to know who the creepy man knocked out in my room was. But Anna didn't say anything, instead, she just stared at nothing in specific like she was deep in thought.
It was like she was hiding something from us, or rather, from Dylan who asked her the question. But she quickly put herself together then cleared her throat lightly before she spoke.
"Can you guys just help me get her up, and figure out what to do with...him?" She said 'him' with so much disgust which only implied that she definitely knew who the guy was and it made me even more curious as to why she lied. But I didn't call her out on it. I simply mumbled a "Fine", walked over to her friend and picked her up bridal style, the activity worsening my already injured hand.
"Umm... Where to?" I asked Anna.
"Oh, yeah. I just need to get the keys to her car," She said as she came forward and pulled out a set of car keys from her friend's pocket. She walked down the hallway ahead of Dylan and I. My mind diverted back to the psychopath that was hopefully still lying on my bedroom floor. If I couldn't get answers from Anna, I might as well get some from him.
We all went down the stairs leading to the living room, pushing through the crowd to reach the front door. Stepping out of the suffocating room to the lawn, I inhaled a deep breath, glancing down at the person in my arms. Without a doubt, Everly, Anna's friend, was beautiful. Even though she looked slightly messed up, her features were calm except for the slight twitch between her eyebrows. Her lips were pink, with the slightest cupid's bow.
Focusing back on the task at hand, I looked back at Anna. "Umm... Where's the car?" I asked.
"Right... there," She pointed to a black Audi. A car I didn't expect a college girl like her to have. I was shocked, for lack of a better word, and kind of impressed in her taste for cars.
"Yeah I know, it's a piece of shit," Anna spat with disgust lacing her voice as she stood beside me, crossing her arms.
"What the hell?" Dylan asked in shock. Even though Dylan was usually overly dramatic, I couldn't help but agree with him. That car was anything but a 'piece of shit'.
"Oh, shut up," She said giving him a pointed look. She pulled open the back door of the car, mumbling something along along the lines of 'I wonder why she puts up with them'.
"What?" I asked, her sudden attitude piquing my interest.
"Oh, nothing. Just lay her on the seat, please," She said, avoiding my question. She shut the door after I had dropped Everly on the seat then she walked over to the driver's door and pulled it open.
"Well, we'll be on our way now," She said as she sat down and closed the door. "Bye, babe," She said to Dylan and blew him a kiss. She started the car then drove off. The thought of a certain brunette invaded my brain immediately. But an annoying voice snapped me out of my reverie.
"Dude, you're hooked."
