Centauri was standing at the top of seventh tower. It was the beginning of winter. The day passed in a blink of an eye. At night snowflakes started falling down the dark sky. Centauri extended his plan and a small snowflake settle down on his palm forming a dendrite pattern. He was lost in deep thought. It was difficult to comprehend what exactly was going on behind those ocean blue eyes. The moment he met his mate, his emotions were unstable, but above all he was confused and angry. Confused because he was unable to figure out the mystery behind the sudden presence of his mate and angry because his wolf was always longing for her touch which was getting difficult to resist by every passing day.
“Why you let her follow you?” Centauri turned around and saw Ethan standing on the last stair.
“I wasn’t aware.” He casually replied.
Centauri’s piercing gaze could dig holes in Ethan’s head. “Say that again?”
“Centauri!” Ethan released the breath he was holding, “I thought it was better to let her follow me than wander around and discover something that she shouldn’t.”
“What if she is the killer of the warriors?”
“Centauri! She can be anything but not harmful.” Centauri’s irises turned red “What I mean to say is, just look at her, she can’t even protect herself.” Centauri was not convinced by his explanation so Ethan mustered up courage and said, “You yourself said that she is not one of them, if she was one of them, she shouldn’t be lying dead on the forest floor.”
Centauri was a tiny bit convinced by this statement. He once again looked outside the tower where snowflakes were now replaced by graupel. “Keep an eye on her.”
“Centauri, have you discussed things with Sylvia?”
“No”
“Centauri, the more you will delay it, the messier things will become, and, in the end, you won’t be able to clear out all the mess. It’s better…”
“I know what I am doing.” It was an indication to drop this topic and leave. Ethan got the hint and left the tower without saying another word. When he was moving downstairs, he had one thing on his mind. He was the one who was suspicious about Anastasia but now the things reversed. He didn’t know why but he felt like defending her till the end as if there was a voice telling him from the inside to protect her and be with her.
Centauri once again spend the night outside the palace. He patrolled the borders and carefully walked on all the streets. The intense cold and snowfall had no effect on him. The thin fabric of white shirt was wet and stick to his body. It was early in the morning when he reached the black peak residence.
He moved across the snow-covered garden and trees. The black peak was now covered with white sheet of snow. The two guards standing on the door greeted him and opened the door of the residence. To his surprise when he entered the residence, he felt the familiar sensation. He knew Sylvia was already inside and her aura was dense indicating her anger. Ethan was right, the more I will delay proper discussion with her, the more emotional disturbance she will face. Centauri was still not prepared for this discussion.
“I knew it, you will be found here.” Sylvia mind link Centauri.
“How long have you been here?” He asked loudly. Sam, Zed, Rigel and sylvia came out of the dining room into the main hall where circular shape sofas were placed in the centre of the room. “For almost half an hour.” She casually replied.
“Centauri! You are back” Zed instantly came toward him and stood in front of him. “Where is Anastasia?” he looked at the door and asked impatiently.
“She is in the hospital.” Sam instantly rushed towards Centauri and grabbed him by arm. He started pulling him towards the door, but Centauri stood firmly on his spot. “Why are you still standing there. Take me to the hospital. I want to see her.” He said impatiently.
“If you were this worried about her why you left her in the forest?” Centauri coldly responded. Sylvia rolled her eyes.
“I had no other choice. I tried my best to hide her. Just once, I just want to see her once. Please take me there.” Sam was begging now.
“No.” Centauri despite his newly formed hatred for her couldn’t stand another man begging him to meet her.
“Why?” Zed asked.
“What right do you have?” He once again remarked coldly and harshly.
“Because….” Zed was looking for some appropriate words when Sam blurted out, “Because she is my wife. I have every right to see her.”
