Centauri entered the hospital in his wolf form. He rushed towards the first floor. He entered the hallway and found Dr Park coming out of the room. He went towards him and without saying anything entered the room opposite to the room where Anastasia was staying. He slams shut the door and shifted in his human form. This room had a central desk with a black laptop placed on top of it. A small pile of folders was placed adjacent to it. Whenever Centuri was seriously injured he continued his work in this room. He opened one of the closets and get dressed. His white shirt clearly defined the curve of his abs. His skin was visible under the thin fabric of the shirt. He rolled up his sleeves.
His breathing was ragged, and fists balled. He was frustrated. He let his guard down that night and now was facing the consequences. It was all his fault that he slept that night on the ship and paved way for others to enter the pack. He not only blamed himself for it but also his mate.
He opened the door and Aster was leaning against the door of Anastasia’s room. “Want to check on her?”
Centauri fight the urge of his wolf. His wolf couldn’t resist the tempting scent of his mate however Centauri blamed her for it. “No.”
Centauri’s response took him by surprise. “Follow me.” They started moving towards the basement of the hospital. Aster continued, “I was on the balcony last night when the warriors saw a boat behind the ship. We don’t know how it entered the mist. Two of our men were found dead inside the ship.” They were now moving towards the narrow corridor of the basement. At the end of the corridor was a grey coloured door. “I was passing them orders when I heard voices from Anastasia’s room. I rushed inside and found this.” He opened the door and in the centre of the room was a metallic table and on that table was a dead body. He removed the white cloth and stepped aside. Centauri remained silent.
The body had turned black and gangrenous. “He couldn’t cross the mist alive!” Aster remarked.
“In winter this mystical fog is thickest, and it protects the pack from intruders. All the ships of the pack have amulets for crossing the mist unharmed. He might have followed the ships keeping a certain distance. Since they had no amulet, Their boat got stuck inside the mist and he died before reaching the shore.” Aster told him.
“I don’t think he was following us. He was already waiting near the mist for us.” Centauri remembered the sudden vibration of the ship. It was a warning or a signal he failed to notice.
“The only thing that confuses me is, if he died on the boat how the hell he ended up in Anastasia’s room?” Aster for the first time throughout their conversation sound frustrated.
They looked at each other and said simultaneously, “Unless someone from the pack did it”
“Alpha we are familiar with all the pack members except the humans. Can it be…..” Aster tried reaching a conclusion.
The love that didn’t even begin was tainted by the seeds of hatred and doubt. The feelings in Centauri’s heart were tarnished before they even blossom. He clenched his jaws. “Or it was done by Anastasia herself.” He felt the bitterness of his words in his throat.
Dr Park entered the basement with Ethan. He placed his medical kit on a trolly and moved it near the cadaver. “Alpha two warriors were found dead on the boat. They were guarding the ships last night.” Ethan told Centauri.
Centauri felt the familiar scent of jasmine mixed with coca and wet mud getting stronger. His back was facing the door, so he started moving towards the opposite side of the cadaver taking small steps. “Make preparations for their funeral and their families must be compensated. Make sure no one implies the humans for it, or it will cause restlessness among the omegas, and we will be in trouble.” He was now facing the door. He slowly lifted his eyes from the dead body towards the door and saw green irises peeking through the rim of the door. He now moved out of the view and started moving towards the door. Ethan and Aster were helping Dr Park when he instantly opened the door and saw her. He wanted to shout and express his anger but couldn’t. The scent of his mate was calming him and soothing his nerves. He had never seen such a beautiful woman before. Her head reached Centauri’s collar bone, her brown hair had a hint of golden in them and they reached her lower back. Her innocent white face and green eyes looked panicked.
“I..... I….” She started stuttering. Her voice was soft and smooth as if the words were rolling down without exerting any effort.
Aster and Ethan also came out and stood next to Centauri. Aster looked stunned by her beauty and Ethan found it difficult to shift his gaze from her face. All three of kept staring at her without saying anything. She thought to herself. This man is in black attire, properly dressed and went inside with a doctor. He must be their leader.
“General, I beg your pardon. I can explain.” She said to Ethan.
Centauri and Aster turned their heads towards Ethan simultaneously, “General?”
“You must be mistaken. I am not…” he was interrupted by her, “I know I shouldn’t have followed you, but they were not answering me. I thought I was kidnapped again. I was shot in heart and now there is no wound. I even don’t know how long I have been dead. I just wanted to talk to you. I didn’t mean it.” She looked so innocent explaining herself that Ethan’s heart melted seeing the worried look on her face.
