The only words he manage to speak were, "Is she really............. gone?" He carefully pulled her arm from the bush and placed it near her cold body.
"Centauri" Ethan whispered. "Centauri, look!" he said coming closer. Centauri was completely focused on Anastasia. He was feeling pain radiating around his heart. He could feel his heart sinking in the eternal ocean of sorrow. For him the world has stopped. He wasn't able to hear Ethan. Ethan once again said something but to Centauri it was like a gust of wind and nothing more.
Ethan examined Centauri closely and sat down right next to him. He once again said, "Centauri! are you listening?" and was neglected. He released Anastasia's wrist from Centauri's grip. A flash of realisation crossed his face. He immediately looked at Ethan who was sitting beside him. His eyes became red with rage. Ethan realised the sensitivity of the situation. He immediately pointed towards the bush from where Centauri released his mate's arm. Beautiful red and golden buds were now blooming on the bush. Blue and white butterflies flying across the buds made them look magical. He pulled Anastasia away from the bush, near him protectively.
Ethan sensed his gesture and said, "Centauri, the entrance to the lost clan of the Saintes is hidden in this part of the forest." He also seem confused.
Centauri looked around and noticed that none of the plants had flowers. Something about this part of forest was suspicious, " Seems like our journey was fruitful. Are you sure this is where the Saintes garden would be?"
Ethan nodded his head in response, "Alpha we will come back here to investigate but right now we don't have much time. We must leave." Ethan said with concern clear in his voice. He plucked those flower buds and carefully wrapped them in a leaf. One of the blue butterflies also sat on the wrapped leaf as if willing to accompany them.
"Ethan you must return with the warriors and protect the land. I must search for the entrance of Clan. This is our only chance to save her." He said with hope, determination, ruthlessness. He don't know how to actually describe what he felt at that moment but all he was aware of was one thing,
"I cannot let her die."
"Alpha, these are the only flowers that blossom in this forest after centuries. If I am not wrong they have the self healing ability. I think I can save her."
"Alpha I have read in the ancient books that the flowers from the Saintes land have the ability to absorb life of the creatures and their life will be returned if they are treated with the blooming buds. Centuries ago only the elder of the Saintes clan had the ability to perform such treatment. If I'm not wrong these are the same flowers, at least I can give it a try. We have to take her to the pack hospital. We must hurry". Ethan urged him. Centauri gave it a thought. He closed his eyes, stretched his neck such that his face was facing the sky. He calculated the pros and cons in his mind and after a brief moment he opened his eyes and nodded in response.
His fire beast appeared instantly and started overcoming his human form. He could feel the shifting of his bones. Ethan laid down Anastasia on Centauri's fire beast and he started running towards the nearest part of the shore, where Ethan commanded the warriors to bring the ships. His running pace was much faster than an ordinary wolf. He was followed by Ethan. The warriors on the ships looked worried but when they saw them approaching, a wave of relief washed over them.
