Kylexsis POV.
"Sona Virgo. The future is in your hands." ....in your hands....in your hands.....in your hands...
The words echoed in my head. It was bad enough that these flashes was supposed to mean something, I know that the future did lie in the faith of my hands but the way she said it made me feel so insecure and weary...
It was in my hand, the object that had materialised in her palm. It looked exactly like an.....alethiometer. The flash that occurred didn't leave much for me to comprehend and I was already in a hot scorching desert, with an awful sizzling tremor of heat haze. Far ahead was a square-shaped arc standing in the middle of the desert looking so old that I feared that it might crumbled to dust if I was to touch it. Another flash and a portal came to life. The deep purplish blue swirling like a liquid in a circular motion. It was none like I had ever seen before, but I mean let's face the fact. I had never seen a portal in my life.
Another flash passed my eyes and I was probably in the coldest region of the world. The whirling cold wind was deafening and it was like the vision was a reality. I could smell the cold air, I could feel the cold atmosphere biting away at my skin, it was a big difficulty taking in a breath only to have the freezing air pass painfully down my nostrils. I was in the middle of a horrible blizzard but I managed to stand firm, my eyes squirting interestedly at the ice castle glinting softly in the distance.
Another flash and I was in the middle of a volcanic eruption. The deadly volcano exploded blasting clouds of hot tephra from both the tops and sides of the volcano, large hot red rocks and small-like boulders shot out from the top and landed onto the charred earth, scattering dirt ever where. The ground shook violently as the fiery clouds of fire raced down the mountain destroying almost everything in its path. Thick ash erupted into the sky, falling back to the earth and blanketing every thing, probably killing it off.
Another flash, and I was in a clear moor of different various flowers of wild colour and exotic shapes that I had never seen before. It had a strong pleasant smell carried about by the wind, immediately calming my nerves. It was soothing. Most soothing. Better than my other encounters.
Another flash and there I was standing in front of two huge statues of stone men faces, opposite each other to give a pathway that spelt danger.
Another flash and there were mountains. Lots and lots of mountains that we had to climb down.
Another flash and there it finally was. The thing I felt that I had been looking for. It was a temple, a temple on a small floating mountain up in the air but with a large long stairs leading down to the land I was treading on. However, the thing was, well...
The temple was surrounded. Surrounded by the five elements of magic. The first shield that protected the temple was a whirling globe of air. From the distance I could feel the sharp breeze probably indicating a promise to tear up who ever tried to pass through. For some reason it didn't tear me up, instead it parted way for me as I bravely entered and climbed the stairs to the second obstacle. The second was another globe of swirling fire, moving round, I pass through it, the fire not burning me but feeling incredibly hot on my skin. The next few steps and my obstacle was a blizzard of hail and water surrounding the temple in a globe. Raising my palm the path I wanted to pass gave way for me, and I safely walked by determined to reach the end of the line. The next was earth, tiny rocks of different shapes sizes and colours flew around the temple in a globe formation, I took one step and an angry vine erupted from the ground and shot towards me but stopped midway at the mere raise of my hand. It slowly crawled back submissively, disappearing underneath the earth. The last was a bright white light. Feeling a smile on my lips I waisted no time to pass through, the only sensation was the incredibly comfortable warmth engulfing me and light blinding my eyes.
For a moment, nothing happened, before a enormous wave of pain shot through my head again. A screech of agony left me. Cold sweat trickled down my forehead to my neck. My breaths were haggard barely coming out in wheezes. A sharp pain hit the side of my brain that held the memories forcing in the new ones I never remembered making. This was worse than a brain freeze or a hit-on-the-head migraine. No, it felt like my brain was being attacked by thousands of deadly sharp needles and for a moment I thought I was going to succumb to unconsciousness before the visions flashed and burned into a white light that covered my whole vision into darkness. Into silence. Into nothing.
I lay there on the cool green grass, silently. My body was unable to move trying to let this new memory sink in as I reeled from the pain. My breaths were short and uneven and my pupils must have been dilated from the shock and pain. My heart thudded against my ribcage and pericardium making my chest feel compressed.
My mind was blank and black as I stared at the blurry leaves in the sight of my view. That was some last crazy minutes.
"Kylexsis, Kylexsis oh my god are you all right?" The worried voice of the blue cat rang in my ears. The voice was muffled, only coming to me slowly and clearly." Kylexsis, please answer me you're freaking me out."
I felt a gentle pock to my ribs. I refused to rouse." Shit Kylexsis, ANSWER ME!!!"
I moaned turning my head away from his side, my face in a displeased frown. My hearing was clear now and his loud voice only added more salt to my wounds." Quit yelling, your loud voice is having an impact on my brain"
"Glad to know you're okay, thanks for thanking me for worrying about you, don't mention it." I could literally feel the object of sarcasm dripping out of his sentence, and the annoyed feeling emitting from him.
"Damn little cat, that hurt." I groaned, holding my head steadily and sitting up against the tree trunk. That was like the third time I was awakening in this same forest.
"Sorry it was the fastest way to get the message through." He winced in apology.
"Well, what the hell was that?" I yelled obviously pissed off. I had just died, and then been reincarnation to save a world from destruction, I woke up to being a girl and fainted slamming my head on the ground as I did so, I awoke with a migraine, found out that I have a cat for a familia, got shot with what ever that cat shot into my forehead, went through minutes of pain of memories burying itself into my brain and woke up to that same migraine again. I believed I didn't need more assault to my mental health." That white light and those memories that felt all too real. God they felt so real."
"That's because they were." The cat simply stated.
I stared at him dumbly too confused to find the right words to use at the moment. I shook my head and closed my eyes for a brief moment rubbing my forehead with the heel of my palm. The exhaustion had already started to take over and I wasn't even out of the damn forest yet. Not like I can go anywhere without help for directions. Damnit, where are those gnomes when you need them?
"I don't... I'm sorry but I don't think I follow. My head is too conflicted to think clearly." I murmured sighing tiredly." How, I mean I don't understand. I don't remember living through that life. I mean I basically just woke up from being reincarnated."
" Hmmm, right and wrong. Let me explain so listen carefully. It can be very confusing." His eyes turned back to mine, a solemn look etching at his features." We both know that when someone is reincarnated they start off as a new born being brought into the world, hence the prospect of being rebirthed to start a new life from scratch."
I nodded in understanding.
"Or you can be reincarnated into the body of a dying person, and gaining their memories as yours." He continued.
I nodded looking down at my more feminine and slender fingers." Probably what happened to me... I'm a girl."
"Oh, no no no, Kylexsis you didn't reincarnate into a person's body." The cat cocked his head to the side, a habit he seemed to keep doing, wearing a rather smug smile on his face." That body is pretty much your own."
I shot him a dubious look, unsure of whether he really was dumb and dense." Dude, I'm a girl. What are you talking about. I thought you said you knew about me. This is clearly not the male body I had back on earth."
"This world is a gender bender Lexi. It could also be alternate, meaning when you get reincarnated on this planet, girls become boys, boys become girls, cats become dogs, humans become something else that they can easily adapt with. That body of yours is still the same body of the male Kylexsis River Dakota. It's just the female version." He got up from where he sat and stalker closer to me, hips and tail swaying ever so graciously. Very much like a feline." Hence, starting new life from scratch in a new body."
"You were born in this world as a baby, Kylexsis, but you can not remember the life you lived because of simply this." He circled me, taking in ever inch of me and I couldn't help but feel so insecure even if he was my familia -oh sorry, daemon." You were supposed to be reincarnated as a newborn in this era, but Ekhanto and I simply could not wait for you to grow up. The peril is nigh and the cause is still at large. We don't know when or where it will strike but it will begin soon enough. So, Ekhanto had you reincarnated earlier in time, about twenty years ago.....in the past."
"What??" My jaw literally dropped in awe. She was a goddess of enchantment and charm and now she can control the time in her world. Epic!!!" She can do that?"
"Apparently." He answered calmly finally taking a sit in front of me. The solemn look on his face making me tense up and sit up straight." Ekhanto brought your consciousness to the future, moving time to this current day and the reason why you cant remember it because the process of doing so created gaps, because of your age. Your mind is already conflicted with your earth memories so you brain needs some time to create space for the ones you made here. The life you lived is real, and it made you strong Kylexsis. Strong physically, mentally and magically."
"I don't feel like it." I grumbled in discomfort, half pouting and wrapping my arms around my legs.
"That's because your potential locked away the moment you entered consciousness. But don't worry it's still there, you just have to trigger it."
"But this memory you showed me, it actually took place?" I polled rubbing a sore spot on my shoulder blade. The cat nodded." Well what about my other memories will they come back?"
"Well that depends entirely, Lexi " He cocked his head, skeptical eyes boring into mine.
"Depends entirely on what?" I prompted choosing to ignore the chosen nickname.
"On whether you actually want to remember. Given the detail of your past life I thought that you would want to keep your obliviousness."
My frown deepened in thought, discombobulated eyes moving downwards to stare pensively at the grass. And I couldn't help but agree with him. The thought of not being able to remember the details of my life scared me. There was no way of knowing who to watch out for, or if I was on the run, nor did I know the faces of my enemies. But the thought of knowing about my past ignited a very familiar sense of fear in me.
What if I eventually ended up remembering something and it was not pretty? What if I ended up remembering everything and it didn't make much difference to my life before this and I ended up getting hurt again? I couldn't risk that, but I could never be happy and satisfied if I didn't choose to remember, the feeling of emptiness and discontent etching deep inside me... wondering if my life was really different.
"Why did you give me that particular memory?" I found myself asking, refusing to ponder more about whether or not I wanted to remember. There were much more important things at hand right now.
"I didn't give you any memory. The electric shock to the head was just a jolt to restart it. It didn't come all at once because you could have suffered an irreversible case of permanent brain damage." He explained" The ones you remember gave you enough to deal with already. Those memories appeared first because they were most likely recent. The rest will come back gradually if you will it, that is."
"Then the flashes of light, that temple, the lands I traveled. What was that?" I wondered, the picture still fresh in my head.
The little cat shrugged." Sorry but that is extent of my knowledge . Even if I knew what it was I wasn't given the authorisation to tell you. There are some things that Ekhanto wants you to find out... By yourself self. By ourselves. Together. So don't worry, we'll get through this, okay?"
A giggle escaped me as I processed his words. We had known each other for what? A few hours? And surprisingly I could feel the bond between us strengthen at a single twinge of affection between us. And I didn't even know his name...oh?...OH! His name! Shit, how could I be so dumb? He's my familia and a new friend and the only family I currently had and I didn't even know his name? And he knew mine.
I turned to towards him, my cheeks redding in embarrassment. How exactly was I supposed to ask him now? As if knowing what I was going to say he turned to me with a smile." Don't bother asking, Lexi. I am one with no name."
I rose a brow, surprised at how he knew what I was going to ask." As a familia I can read your mind as well as sense your emotions, as you can mine. So yeah, I know you wanted to ask about my name, unfortunately you don't have to feel bad for not asking. I have no name...at least currently."
"Why don't you have a name? Aren't you some divine being in heaven?... God should have given you one-"
"When I was casted away I was stripped off my belongings and properties....my work, my home, my status and yes, my name. As of now, I have nothing....well except for this mission -" He explained.
"Then what am I supposed to call you?" I frowned.
He shrugged absentmindedly, staring out at the forest afar." I don't know. A familia gets named by its master when the bond is fully established and truly accepted. What we have now is mutual need. I don't think we recognise this bond for what it's worth..... yet. And when we- when you do, the name will come naturally into your mind on its own accord. For now, little cat won't hurt."
"Hey, hey little lady." A voice called. A very familiar voice called. The little blue cat and I turned to the left to see those two gnomes running towards us, both holding nets full of brown and white mushrooms. I smiled, impeccable timing you guys.
"Hello again little lady. How are you feeling now? You had a bad hit on your head when you fell, got us all worried. We were going to stay and tend to you but your daemon said he would do so." Eight, the blue eyed and brown haired gnome was the first to speak when they had reached my spot.
"Ah, thanks. I'm okay now, no need to get worried." I smiled sincerely itching the back of my neck nervously.
"It's our-" Eight began with a beaming smile.
"If you don't mind me investigating, you refused to believe you were a girl. You were just sleeping like you were dead when we found you . What in Ekhanto's name happened to you." Seven cut Eight off in mid-sentence fixing me with an accusing glare, not even waiting a minute before interrogating.
Ekhanto's name? Jeez they really are into it.
"Seven stop it you-" Eight began to retort angrily.
"And what in the goddess's name are you wearing?" Seven scowled deepened, and his awfully scrutinizing glare made me cringe. He's judging me. For the first time since I woke up, I finally decided to acknowledge my full attire. Looking down at it I saw that I was still clad in the attire I had died with, my skinnies, hoodie, anorak jacket and air force one that had been dirtied by the moist soil of the forest earth. I knew this material wasn't near medieval, judging by the differences between ours. And plus, women didn't wear trousers. Like seriously, how can I survive in this place without the existence of jeans.
"Uh...I don't...I don't-uh." I stuttered a mumble, my cheeks draining in fear. What was I supposed to tell them, what if they read my lies if I was to say I didn't remember anything.
"Apologies for Seven's rudeness, little lady." Eight interrupted my thoughts sweetly with a warm smile." He's just furious because when he tried to touch your weird travelling bag he got shocked by the protective barrier spell you had placed on it." He finished hitching a thumb to the left.
While the thought of me still in the clothes I had died with confused me, the thought of what my backpack was doing here made my brain go frenzy. I turned to my little cat for an explanation but he just shrugged and mouthed the words, I'll explain later.
I got on my knees and crawled towards the bag, wrapping my hands and legs around it like it would disappear if I didn't. I wondered what could be inside. The little cat said this world was alternate, would my contents change to match this world or would it still be the same? Only one way to find out. Chewing nervously on my lips, I grabbed the sides and reached for the zip to open it up.
To my astonishment, there were absolutely no changes at all. From my text books to the material I had wanted to deliver to the tailors shop. A smile of hope tugged at my lips as I searched the smaller compartments for other things. There were some bubble gums and stick sweets and my wallet which held my ID and the four hundred dollars which had now surprisingly changed into four gold coins with a dragon engraved on it, they all had a weight to them too. The money of this world, I supposed. Deeper into the compartment, my ear pods and phone lay there, making my heart burst in happiness. I actually had my phone here with me? I took everything in me not to grin like a Cheshire cat.
"Little lady, we found you unconscious like a log under this tree." Eight begun again, shuffling closer cautiously." Do you remember how you got here? No one in their right mind would come to Eion forest for a nap in this dangerous woods."
"Um....." I sighed zipping up the bag, pushing in my excitement and looking down at the gnomes with the most to innocent look I could muster." No I don't remember anything."
"Remember anything? As in you can't remember how you got here or you don't remember anything at all?" Seven asked rising a distrusting brow at me. I wouldn't blame him, I wouldn't trust me at this point too.
"I don't...I don't remember anything at all. Only a few things. Like my name and age. It's Kylexsis by the way." I mumbled my fidgeting fingers lacing together to stop it. I had always despised lying especially to nice people, but let's face the fact, Clarke was the only nice person that I could recommend.
"Nothing at all, only your name?" Seven asked again as if to finalize my claims. I nodded slowly, unsure of if what I was doing was the right thing to do. I needed allies, but I also needed their trust too. Him and Eight shared a meaningful glance, communicating silently through eye contact.
"Amnesia?" Eight asked Seven.
Seven confirmed with a nod." Definitely amnesia."
"Wait what?" I spluttered wondering how easy they finalize my situation as a case of amnesia like it was a common sickness.
"It's common." Seven shrugged easily, answering my question and giving me a soft look." Telling by your kind in this world."
"My.....kind?" I grimaced.
"Yes, I concur too. Faeys and elfin kind live over a thousand years so it's only normal they have amnesia. It must be the case, there is no other explanation. Don't mean to be mean but...how old are you little lady?" Eight asked.
But I couldn't hear what he had said. The moment those gnomes confirmed and I quote' my kind in this world' everything went muffled. It was bad enough my sex had to change, and I could myself awoken in a dangerous forest but now I'm not human anymore?
This world is a gender bender Lexi. It could also be alternate, meaning when you get reincarnated on this planet, girls become boys, boys become girls, cats become dogs, humans become something else that then can easily adapt with, the little cat said to me.
The little cat had specifically told me that humans become something else here. Did that include me?
"What do you mean..... What do you mean Faeys and elfin and my kind....." My voice was barely audible when I asked, face pale and cold from the shock.
The both of them looked at me in confusion , before turning to themselves silently conversing in whispers. I stared at the both of them, waiting for an answer and hating the way I was so oblivious to everything." Miss... Kylexsis, don't tell me you've forgotten what you are." Eight begun and said slowly and cautiously like I would blow up any minute" Miss.....you are a half breed of a Faey and elfin, judging by how short the pointy tip of your ears are."
My eyes popped open as his words settled itself in my mind." P-pointy tips....." A silent gasp left my lips and my hands automatically shot up towards my ear . And I felt it , running my hands about half an inch up to the pointed tip. It was there . It was really there . When those gnome said it I didn't want to believe it. But the confirmation of the truth was there..... I really was a halfbreed.
My breath heaved faster , my heart ran rapidly filling my entire system with adrenaline. My throat for a scream and my brows twitched in shock." Uh-oh. I think she's about to explode." Eight muttered to Seven.
Explode indeed. It began deep down in the pits of my stomach. Nausea, twisting and turning and churning, my throat bubbled with an itch to scream. So much pent up frustration, so much pent up shock and effing reality. Why can't i just let it all out? What's stopping me? Do it.....my mouth dropped open....scream your frustrations out....my throat tightened, my stomach and chest pressed against my insides for an exhale....and scream.
"No, stop." Eight shrieked in panic as he and other others dashed for me all at once. Before my screams erupted, all three hands (well two plus a paw) clamped down on my mouth, their surprisingly heavy weight pushing me down on my back to he grass. I shrieked in surprise but it was muffled by their hands pressing down hard against my mouth.
"Are you crazy Kylexsis. You scream we die." The little cat hissed, sharp green eyes darting around the thick trees for any signs of company.
"Don't scream halfbreed. It's getting to nightfall and the monsters must be active. If you scream and they hear it they'll pick up on our scent and trust me, we won't make it out alive if they do." Seven warned through gritted teeth. The sneer on his lips only strained to become nastier. The serious look on his face had me silent and all I could do was look with wide eyes.
"Come on, we've been here far too long." The little cat informed the obvious, as they all started to remove their hands from my mouth and moved away to survey the woods again. He turned to Seven and Eight who was making a grab for their mushroom filled nets." Can you lead the way? Maybe help us find a nearest tavern to for some food and a bed for the night? If it isn't any trouble."
"Of course it isn't." Eight said sweetly regarding him with a smile. Both gnomes hauled their nets over their shoulders easier than one could imagine with their physique and started down the bushy path." Come on, if we leave now we'll make it to the outskirts by nightfall." He called after us.
Not wanting to waste any time and meet the faith they had warned me about, I scurried up to my feet and grabbed my bag before following down the path behind them.
As we walked in silence, I couldn't help but notice how long my silky black hair went down past my waist and flowing beautifully around my hips. The beautiful sheen glistened under the light. My whole body even felt light, like I could lift into the air without difficulty and move without hardship. My chest didn't quite feel heavy like how I thought it would be with bosoms weighing me down.
It felt strange yet comfortable and right. And those pointy tips of my ears. They felt soft yet hard, the skin smooth and tender with each stroke bringing a jolt of electricity that ran at ever corners of my body. It was then did I remember that an elfin or Faeys ear is one of the most sensitive part of the body that can stimulate arousal.
"Lexi, Lexi...." The hushed call of the little cat brought my attention down to him. He stared up at me from where he was walking by my side." They are a little out of ear shot." He told me gesturing towards the Gnomes who were walking ahead of us discussing silently about something." If you have any other questions you may ask now."
"Right." That sentence had me perking up. I didn't think that he was going to answer everything I had in mind here and now but some would have to do." First off, why am I still in the clothes I died with, and what's the deal with my bag?"
"Whatever you die with gets reincarnated with you. Ekhanto believed that whatever object brought to this place could help in a faster development into a modern era..... although I think she has a lot more to do if she wants to accomplish that."
"But what if other people gets their hands on it, won't it just tip them off?" I asked again, the fear of loosing my possession to bandits and raiders crawled up my spine in shivers.
The cat shook his head." The only person allowed to touch your stuff is either you or me. That's why Seven got shocked when he tried to touch your bag, there is a protective barrier around it."
"And my phone? Can.....can I still be able to make use of it." I bit my lips hoping for the impossible.
"Unfortunately. It still has a connection to earth in a way, even I don't understand how that works." He mused with a soft hum.
"Wait so I can actually use it? Will it work, I mean, there's no WiFi around here-"
"Depends. Was your mobile data switched on the day you died? If so then you'll have free WiFi. You can charge it too, you just have to master your lightening magic first."
"Lightening magic?"
"Come on you two, we'll be out faster if you pick up the pace back there." Eight called for us, cutting me off from what I was about to ask. Oh well, there are other times. And let's not talk about the free WiFi I now possess, my mobile data was always switched on. Oh boy the things that I will do with this phone.
The little cat and I rushed over to the gnomes side, not to lose them in the turns and corners of the path we took. I noticed the more we moved on the more the trees got fewer and the moist soil of the earth was being replaced by grasses indicating that we must have been heading towards a clearing or a field.
"So....." I drawled looking down at the two gnomes." Seven and Eight...like those are your names, why?"
Seven fixed me with a frown." We are currently twenty gnomes underground, we don't have that luxury of names, we don't even know a lot of names. So we resulted to the sequence at which we were born, thus the name Seven and Eight. It's how it is. It's how it's always been."
"Well what if I decided to change that and give both of you names." I said almost too quickly causing both of them to stop dead in their tracks, causing the little cat to bump into Seven's back and my leg into Eight's.
The both of them stood there for a while. Only the sounds of the leaves rustling against the wind filling the silence around the darkening forest. Both me and the little cat stood silently behind them probably figuring it would be better if we would give them time to digest my statement. But it was stretching far too long and the sky was beginning to darken to a darker blue. Their immobile bodies brought uneasiness into my mind. I was so worried, like what if what I said triggered something? And their short hitching breath wasn't giving me any hope.
Eventually, they moved to turn around, the normal grouchy expression on Seven's face fading away into a completely impassive stare. Eight eyes were twinkling like he was going to shed tears any minute.
"Miss...you do know that with that we will forever be in your debt. Right?" Seven said consciously, as if choosing the words with great care.
"We.....we haven't ever been named...it a new phase for us and most gnomes never get named. And those who are follows the person who named them to the ends of Tundran." Eight declared with a kind smile.
"Well I don't need you to follow me to the ends of.... Tundran." Whatever that is." It won't be a problem for me. I don't think it's right for someone to not have a name. It's no big deal."
"How can you not want our loyalty in return, we'll be at your service in-"Eight began.
"You can be Coco, yeah? Your hair is like dark chocolate, dark cocoa so it's only fitting yeah?" I interjected with a smiled feeling the curls of his hair that escaped his cone hat. It was surprisingly soft.....too soft. He didn't seem to mind, a wide smile of his own overtaking the previous impassive look on his face.
"And Jupiter. You like that yeah?" I said turning towards Seven eyeing his sandy somewhat blonde hair that reminded me of the planet Jupiter." It reminds me of something ,I think, your hair, and those green eyes like the plantation. Jupiter suits you don't you think?"
"What is wrong with you. Stop saying things like that. Elvin never let a gnome they named go scot-free and the same also applies for Faeys. We are like-" Seven began angrily.
"I'm not am elvin nor am I a Faey. I'm a halfbreed remember, and plus I don't think people are all truly that bad. They just need guidance and I've had enough for a lifetime I think." I interrupted him yet again, patting both their heads simultaneously, a sad smile on my face on how they would think their fate would end by just being named." If you believe that I own you two now, then how about I set you free. And if you still have the feeling that you owe me as much for giving you both this new phase of life, then all I ask is for you to be my friends. Okay?"
"Thank you." The gnomes, now Jupiter and Coco chorused in soft murmurs. I sighed in satisfaction, liking the way they had agreed because we didn't really have the time or strength to convince them.
"I'm glad. Now, we better get going. I do not want to be monster meat tonight." I joked, but the wide eyes of the gnomes told me that they didn't take sarcasm too well. They pulled away from me and began to scurry away and down the path.
"I'm proud of you." My little cat whispered below me before joining them in power walking. Smiling at the praise, I went after them slightly jogging to catch up.
We soon popped out of the forest by the time the moons were out. And yes, I mean the moons. It was expecting of this world to have two moons like I had read in so many fantasy novels. In the night sky was a blue moon that shone the brightest and bathed the land in its luminous pretty light blue, the second was a purple moon that levitated behind the blue, the glow not as prominent as the first. It was truly a sight.
"Look, Kylexsis, over there." Coco said gently, tugging at the hem of my hoodie to bring my attention away from the beautiful moons and towards the spot his chubby small hands were pointing at.
There was a tavern alright. The only building standing in the moor that had finally confirmed my suspicions. There were a few carriages with horses resting on the grass, there were a few cages two that held god knows what inside." It's the only tavern you'll likely see seven miles from the town of Lockheed. You will find lodgings and food there, but please be careful. There you will find every passing traveling merchant, robbers and knights...and there is no doubt that you will come across a raper. And you truly are a sight. Protect yourself little lady." Eight forewarned, his face showing the worried wrinkles caused by his frown.
I gave a tavern one last fleeting look before crouching down in front of the gnome so that I could look them straight in the eye." Don't worry, I'll be fine. I can handle myself. I promise." I smiled reassuringly at them, reaching out to pat both their heads. The promise sounding more as a reassurance for myself than to them. I was afraid, who wouldn't be. But I did make it clear that I didn't want them as my slaves so I wasn't going to ask them if they could come with me.
"At least accept this as a thank you gift for my name and for our freedom." Jupiter said, taking a golden dagger strapped around his waist and dropping it into my hands." I made it myself. It is spelled so it would never part from the owner. Please accept it."
A gasp left me as I unsheathed the dagger and took a moment to examine the piece. The eleven inch knife was sharp and slightly curved at the sharpened edge and made of shiny silver. The blade was fixed on a rich hilt of shining gold metal running up the silver blade, with a designed grip made of gold and with a small blue round sapphire stone right at the hilt. It was big and sturdy enough to make sure my fingers were safe and firm around the grip.
Holding it in my hands made everything really look so real. My death, this mission, the little cat said to be my familia-daemon, and with this weapon so dangerous I knew I couldn't lie to myself anymore.
"Jupiter, it's beautiful. Thank you." I couldn't help but smile, running my finger lightly along the sharp edges. It felt cold and scary but he meant well by handing me this." I'll treasure it and use it to remember you by."
"Here, this is my own thank you and farewell gift." A shy Coco muttered raising his palms to show me a small harmless object. It looked like a pea whistle made of pure bronze with strange runes looking like leaves carved with gold on it." It's a whistle. If ever you are in need of help or assistance, blow on it and we will be at your aid."
"Thank you. It'll treasure it too." I said tucking away the whistle and the dagger into a small compartment in my backpacks.
"Thank you too Kylexsis. Because of you we have something to brag about to the others when we get back home." Coco grinned widely like a Cheshire cat, waving as he began to part ways into the opposite direction.
This was it. They were going to leave me now .
"Now pull your hood up and hide your ears, be safe. Till we meet again little lady." Jupiter yelled after me running over to join Coco by the spot he was standing on. I smiled and waved back much to my non-reluctance. I waited and watched as they crouched down to the ground and began to dig at inhuman speed before disappearing underneath the earth. Damn diggers.
The moment they disappeared I felt kind of lonely. No more of Coco nor the grumpy look on Jupiter's face. Just me and the little cat that I was yet to name. I wonder what he meant by saying the daemon is named when the bond is established. Wasn't our bond established and recognised? Anyway, it was just me and the little cat in an empty Moore , the breeze whirling around me gently and bringing cold shivers. A prod on my leg brought my attention to the cat right below me, it's cute attentive green eyes looking up at me.
"Come on, Lexi. I'm cold." He wined pointing a fluffy paw towards the tavern.
"Sure let's go." I murmured, and after one long look at the holes the gnomes had made I pulled my hood up my head and stared off towards the tavern.
It was surprisingly huge up close. There were about sixteen windows on the second floor spewing golden light, the third was closed up and dark. The building looked old and scarred like it had withstood many years of harsh climate conditions. There was sounds of music and laughter reverberating loudly making me want to bolt and leave this place. But the little cat and I was starving and I can't just ignore it. Before I died, I only had an apple for breakfast, my body would be too weak to journey on foot if I don't get some decent food and rest tonight.
The interior looked much more bigger than I had expected. The room was dimly lit with a dozen candles on hanging metal chandlers and lamps on the walls. The tables were lined in rows of six full of food and jugs of God knows what and the place was an awful mess. Women in worn out, patched dresses moved from tables to tables, cleaning and serving customers, the air was thick and heavy with alcohol and bleach with a bit of a humid scent mixed in with the aroma of food. There were mostly men occupying the the tables dressed in either armour or brown and black leather with various types of weapons strapped to their thighs and waist. The few women there were also in armour but mostly chainmail. They were so many familias of different breeds around but all in small sizes. Birds of prey, cubs, pups, snakes, weasels, monkeys. I felt my cat shuffle closer towards me, the feeling of uncertainty wafting out of him. I picked him up and hugged him tightly and protectively close to my chest for safety purposes.
His fur was so warm and puffy that my fingers sunk inside to meet with his warm skim that vibrated with the steady thumping of his heart. His tenseness immediately relaxed in my arms and the ears that had flattened backwards were now relaxing and perking up.
A few eyes turned towards my direction. Some in interest, some in surprise when they scrutinized my attire and some with a certain familiar hunger that spelt "pervert" making me inwardly cringe. Hellbent on ignoring this stares, I made my way over to the counter were a short chubby woman who seemed to be the head was barking out orders to the younger girls. Her eyes were blue and her pink lips were a darker shade and chapped. Her cheeks were red with a bit of side burns and her blonde hair was up in a really unpleasant messy bun. Her purple gown was faded and worn out with a few patches here and there, a pipe in her hands and her large breast almost protruding out of her gown. A blue jeweled necklace lay on the crack of her bosom with similar matching earrings to go.
"Hi, excuse me miss." I called to her, settling on one of the stools and placing the little cat on the counter so I could take my hood off. My ears were starting to feel itchy and twitchy at the material of the hoodie." I'd like a room and a warm meal please."
"Well, well, well look what we have 'ere." The woman's voice was high and nasally, her now bulging blue eyes roaming my body in awe and shock." One rare gem yer are. Halfbreeds like yer don really come to dis parts of Astrydye, eh?"
Her accent was thick and somewhat of the Jordi British side, that I could barely understand.
"Pretty one wit dark hair an' green eyes too....yer one walking paradise." She rose a brow and eyed my clothes not seeming too surprised at the trousers I was wearing. "Trousers eh? Yer an adventurer too?" I cringed silently at the obvious scrutinizing stare of those large blue eyes. My instinct was warning me of danger, but I had to hold on, at least till morning when I can finally make a run for it. When I didn't answer she let out a sigh, and gave a sharp nod." What wud yer like for dinner dearie? Soup, stew....meat?"
"I'd like some bread please, if you have. And meat. A bottle of milk too and a small bowl to feed my daemon from. I'll pay it all. And don't forget the room. Oh and package it, I'd like to eat in my room." I answered settling my bag down on the floor and watched as the woman disappeared behind the counter. I took in a deep breath and decided to study the people behind me while she was working on my order. All were white, and some of rare beauty. Some of the men were having a drinking game and one of them was announcing something in a drunken state on the table while the women tipsy or drunk, cheered him on. The daemons were either eating, running around or sleeping amidst the noise.
The scraping of the chair beside me brought my attention to my side. A man about six feet six settled on the stool besides me, carefully placing a black dire wolf pup on the counter. His entire body was covered in black and gold leather and chainmail underneath. A sword was strapped to his waist and thighs held daggers at each sides. He placed his brown satchel bag down on the counter behind the wolf and removed his hood off his head. And God, was he beautiful.
His lips as pink as a cherry blossom in Tokyo temple gardens, his skin as white as snow, his eyes as grey as the storm-extinguished day, and his hair as black as the silky feathers of a raven, tied into a half ponytail showcasing his three inch pointy ears seemingly longer than mine. He was beautiful, like a real picture out of a storybook. Like Snow White.
I hadn't realised that I had been staring too long before both his ear and what was most likely his daemon's ear simultaneously flicked in alert and turned to me. I looked away immediately, my cheeks going hot in embarrassment. Even little Cat shuffled closer to me unconsciously. From the corner of my eyes I saw his brows raise in surprise and suspicion as he took in my appearance.
"You're a halfbreed." He finalized quietly after a silent moment of debating. His voice was a charming mixture of fruity and gravelly husky.
A warning flashed through my head again. I took my hood and pulled it over my head to cover my ear, wondering why I took it down in the first place. I could still feel his stare burning a hole in the side of my face that wasn't covered up with the hood. He didn't look away and that only brought my unease and discomfort.
"The dominant Faey green eyes...." He mused, tilting his head to the side to get a better view." And black hair..."
"The usual Sir Keylin?" A perky blondie appeared from behind the counter, shooting him a flirtatious smile and a flutter of her long eyelash. Who could blame her, this Snow White was one piece of meat! He, however, hummed and waved her off easily barely recognising her. Rude. His eyes still on me, curious brow crunched to face downwards. I didn't miss the disgusted look on the girls face before leaving us to carry out his order.
AND HE WAS STILL LOOKING. Geez doesn't this guy know that staring is considered rude?
Then that chubby women had to be a miracle . She arrived with my order wrapped up in a white cloth and had dropped it on the counter. A single key with a wooden holder with a six engraved on it followed." Yer order missy. Meat, bread, bowl, milk all packed an' yer key to yer rum. Rum, six, up the stairs behind ya." She spoke and stretched out a palm for payment, and let the other rest on her hip.
Without a word I reached down towards the compartment that held my purse and took out a gold coin with dragon engravings on it. She took it with a very surprised expression on her face, and brought it up to her lips to bite down hard on it." Hmmmm, real alright. I don't know how I can find some change for this but wait "ere and let me see what I can whip up for yer–"
"You can keep it all." I said grabbing my bag, order and little C before making my way past drunken men and up the stairs.
It creaked heavily under my weight making me thread slowly and cautiously to avoid it caving in. My heart beats had slow down now but the thoughts in my head still prevailed. Was my kind so obvious and famous that they could tell by just looking at the ears? The woman said that my kind were rare, especially ones with black hair and green eyes. Green eyes . . . . . . that Keylin guy had mentioned something about it... something about the dominant Faey green eyes. Were my green eyes another distinct feature of my kind too? But whatever, the way they talked brought shivers down my spine. What exactly was the deal with halfbreeds?
This brought uneasiness settling deep in my gut, and a fearful shiver racking my entire system. My grip on the cat in my arms tightened on instinct, searching for any sort of comfort and I got it by him nuzzling his nose in my chest–bosoms, but I could care less about that now.
The sound of slurring voices drew me out of my thoughts. I was now standing in a long hallway, containing eight doors of room at each sides. At the end of the hallway was a close window with a single candle on the sill to bring a bit of light that casted moving shadows of the three men that stood at each side drinking . And they were talking to me.
"Pretty lady, come have a drink with us?" One brown haired man with an overgrown stubble and scar running down his chin asked me, raising a transparent brown bottle of god- knows- what.
"Yeah, come on lady. Just one drink....and then maybe some fun afterwards." He said with a sinister snicker that made me shiver in disgust.
The same. The men were all the same. Greedy, wicked and perverted. I thought as I searched aimlessly for my room door and rushed inside after unlocking it with the key given to me.
The little cat dropped to the floor along with my bag. There was a lump growing in my throat and my body felt itchy from the lack of a bath. I was going to need one sooner or later. And I was going to have to watch out for those men, my mind warned of an ulterior motive.
"You okay Lexi?" The little cat asked, looking up at me from where he sat on the floor.
I looked down with him with a reassuring nod and smiled, before allowing my self to study the room interior. It didn't hold much to it like I had expected. The walls were grey and peeling, and the floor was wooden and cracked. The single bed stood at the left side, with white sheets and a single pillow that had been rubbed of its feather inside. There was a small stool that held a bowl of half burnt candles. The right had a table with a single mirror and a trunk lay under the window.
Gripping the paper bag tighter in my hand I stalked over to the bed and plopped myself down on it. It smelled of wax and bleach, and creaked painfully under the influence of my weight. But I ignored it, a bit too hungry to care. The bottle of milk was in a transparent white glass with a cork as it's cover. The meat was cold but soft and tasted a bit too salty for my liking, it made me feel nauseous and I immediately put it away. The bread was rough and hard to break, it had no taste but I forced it down my throat either way. The little cat only drank the milk, saying that he wasn't much of a late night eater. As I was about to lay on the bed and let my eyes drift to sleep the cat interrupted me.
"Lexi....have you truly accepted the fact that you are a girl." He questioned from where he had perched on the table that held the mirror.
A long displeased groan left my lips and I buried my face into the lanky pillows." Not this again Little C. I don't want to talk about-"
"Eventually you are going to have to face that fact for heaven's sake. It's better now than later. Lexi, the first move to unlocking your true potential is acceptance. You have to accept who you truly are or you will never move from this weak ass spot you are in now."
Harsh. I grumbled internally before sitting up and giving myself time to contemplate his words. He was right though, I was going to live the rest of my life in this body and constant denial was unhealthy. I needed to take the next step to acceptance he said..... I was changed now, for better or for worse, I did not know. I was going to have to make do." I don't....I don't know.....ugh....fine...how do I start?"
His hard glare softened at my words, and a small smile replaced his frowning lips." Come look in the mirror."
Nodding slowly, I stared at the mirror fleetingly before consider his words and getting up to walk over to it. My steps were slow-on purpose-but either way I still reached the mirror. Taking a deep breath and daring my sanity to not break, I turned to the mirror and took in my appearance, realising that there wasn't much difference to the old me.
My hair was still the same shade of jet black but it wasn't as lackluster as it was before. My button nose never looked so cute with the same amount of freckles that dusted across my cheeks and nose, my lips were full, plump and red as cherries,my skin flushed and pale at the same time, and my eyes the same shade of electric green that swirled in patterns in my iris. I gasp, bringing my hand to touch the lids of my eyes studying the swirls of the green, completely mesmerized by the beauty.
"It's the trait of the Faey kind. Swirling eye colour that reflects on the emotions." The cat explained laconically.
So that was what he meant by the dominant Faey green eyes,eh?
The twitching of my-by my calculations - one and about ninety seven inch ears drew my attention towards it. I smiled liking this trait." Wow....I'm-"
"Beautiful?" The cat below me completed with a proud smile." I know."
I let out a snort and patted his head." Thank you little C. Now I really see no difference. I was always told that I had more of a feminine than masculine physique. Come on, we better get some sleep. We have a journey ahead of us tomorrow. We're going to need it." I announced shuffling closer to the bed and plopping down on it with a satisfied sigh. My bones felt too weak and my skin felt stretched and itchy with dirt and my eyes slightly throbbed." Come on little bluey. It could be cold tonight."
I whined, stretching my arms towards him suddenly having the urge to hold him tight and safe against me. The cat just chuckled and moved to get atop of the window sill." Don't worry Lexi, you sleep. I need some fresh air and a stretch. Plus someone needs to take watch. I'll be fine, you need that rest more than I do."
"Okay." I grumbled burying my face in the pillow." Night, little C."
"Goodnight." And with a tired blurry sight, I watched him jump down the window and into the night before dozing off.
>>–––––————————————>
The door croaked and creaked. There was a little rattle followed by the tiny screech of metal against metal. My ears twitched in alert at the sound of muffled breathing and silent movement behind the door. A tired frown crossed my features and I tried to sit up but I couldn't. The smell of this peppery-like scent wafted through my nostrils. It was choking and heavily unpleasant. My throat felt dry and my eyes began to water painfully.
"L-little C-cat." My call was weak and croaky. I had managed to move my body into a position in which I was lying on my back and facing the roof before the door to my room creaked open.
A low sinister laugh passed my ears and they flattened against my head in fear." Well look at you. Open and willing for our pleasure." A familiar voice laughed lowly, the sound of heavy boots stalking closer towards my bed.
My heart accelerated and my breath went into frenzy. That voice.... That voice that my instinct had warned me about. Could it be.....
"It's your fault." That familiar face and hair came to view, confirming my fears. His eyes roamed my stiff body indolently with hunger ." A little drink wouldn't have hurt."
My stomach dropped in fright and the feeling of nausea overwhelmed me. I watched him as he began to unbuckle his belt as the two other men shut the door silently and that was when what they were planning to do dawned on me making me go into panic with the bit of strength that suddenly rose in me.
"Erd." The brown haired man commanded lowly striding over to me in haste." Hold her down."
I wanted to scream and kick and run but all my strength left me when rough and grubby hands pinned me down to the bed harshly. I opened my mouth to cry out in pain at their brutality, but a hand clamped down on my mouth, silencing me.
"Bad, bad halfbreed." He chuckles darkly, his alcoholic breath hitting my nose. I still tried to struggle and pry myself out of his grip but the rough hands holding me down only tightened painfully.
"Fuck, the effect of the paralyzing gas is wearing off," The second guy holding me, Erd, said with slight awe in his tone.
The brown haired man tsked." Perks of being a halfbreed. They recover quickly from most things." He explained concisely kneeling in front of me and trapping my body underneath. He reached for his belt and pulls at it roughly, the snapping sound making every hope in me diminish and tears began to well up in my eyes.
"You don't seem like the type that had been touched before. Young, pretty, squirmy, look at you." He says close to my ear, his hands halting in process to grab at my breast and squeeze painfully." Don't cry, baby. Rejoice, I'm doing you a favour by showing you a real good fuck."
Bile rose in my throat in disgust. This man was sick. The paralyzing gas, my tired bones and slight migraine behind my eyes made me too weak. I was going to die from this. I knew I was.
I sobbed loudly as the man grabbed my jeans and pulled them down to my knees after unbuckling." Fuck...." He groaned looking down at my womanhood. Moving back a bit he manoeuvred my knees up till they were flat against my stomach, the jeans still holding my legs." Look what you're doing now, huh? You're making me excited." His words were more of an animalistic growl as he pressed his hardness to the inside of my thighs to prove his point.
"Gaster, when am I going to get a turn." The man by the door cut in with a grumble.
"Why don't I take the back, you and Erd can work your way out with her mouth and hole." His words made my body shiver with distaste and fear, his roaming hands making me feel dirty and impure and my tongue tasted butter when the bile found its way to my tongue.
Why? Why does this always happening to me. Why was I always caught up in the middle of unfortunate situations? Why can't I live a life without these fears?
The man gripped my waist harshly and flipped me to my front with my ass propped up for his use. This made me go frantic again. I couldn't give up, I didn't want to give up. I didn't want to lose my dignity or mentality. I couldn't, for myself, for little cat, for Ekhanto and for this world and mission. I didn't want my first time to be rape.
"Help little cat, Help." I pulled away from Erd's hand on my mouth and screamed, looking out at the window for my daemon. He was nowhere. A harsh collision of Erd's hand on my cheek spun my head and my eyes rolled behind my head in pain.
"Shut it halfbreed scum." He growled a threat, cupping my cheeks so that he could bring my face to look him in the eyes." Scream and we will gut you."
His hot mild alcoholic breath hit my nose and it crinkled in disgust. My tears were now flowing nonstop and my heart was close to breaking. Before my eyes, Erd began to remove his belt, but I looked away...for my own sanity. The sound of their zips going down made my ears twitch almost painfully,my strength was beginning to diminish too. That was until a panicking daemon jumped back onto the window sill, having sensed my distress and took in the scene before him.
"Kylexsis." He screamed in shock, his eyes as wide as saucers. The shock slowly morphed into rage that also coursed through my veins along with unstimulated adrenaline." GET OFF OF HER!!!" He screamed and wasted no time to take a leap at the man behind me. Tears built up in my eyes at the sight of him trying to help me, putting his life out on the line to save me from this fate. I was immobile, weak and petrified for him. He was just a little cub. He was too weak to fight a bigger animal in size much less three bulky men who must have been trained the act of savagery. He could end up dying.
"Back off." The man by the door bellowed, using the grip of his sword to smack the cat right in the stomach so hard that he went flying backwards and colliding this spine with the edge of the window sill.
I screamed in Erd's hand. The excruciating pain he felt coursed through my body. My spine felt like it had been broken and the throb in my stomach made my head woozy. The copper taste of blood filled my taste buds indicating how bad he got it. I tried to struggle out of their grip, pleading and calling his name.
"Ah, you're such a nuisance, you know." Gaster hissed, and pulled harshly at my hair. My eyes pricked with more tears at the strain of my hair and skin." However, you keep screaming, it only turns me on the more."
"Mmmmm" I screamed again when I felt the tip of his hardness press gently against the crack of my anus, a low dark chuckle reverberating from his chest. I couldn't do a thing to stop it, they all overpowered me too much. I could only watch my daemon's feeble attempt to get on his feet, and lung at the man who had stroke him with his sword and slashed at his face with his protruding claws.
The man yowled in agony and stumbled backwards, colliding with the door.
"Yo, Saig, are you okay." Gaster drew back, voice laced with amusement and looked at his companion who was still leaning against the door and cradling his face.
"I'm going to kill that motherfucker." Saig hollered and strode forward to my daemon who was backed up in a corner in panic. His ears were flattened against his head and his furs were sticking up in alarm with his tails behind his leg and canines on display. " You're going to bleed for that you little fucker"
"No, please don't hurt him, I beg of you. Run, little cat, run-" I begged, no longer trying to struggle seeing that it was no use. The emotions rose unsteadily in me. Anger, pain, guilt, resentment, fear.... My heart felt like it would combust from the heavy flow of emotions. The little cat seemed to be distracted by my words, and allowed his eyes to search mine.
"Kylexsis, I'm not-" leaving you?. He wanted to say, but Saig seeing that he was momentarily distracted, he gripped him by the neck and slammed him into the wall. The air in his lungs left him at the impact, as did mine. His eyes were painfully wide, and his paws helplessly tried to claw Saig's hand from his throat. My own neck felt compressed and a small choke left my trembling lips. I tried to scream in pain at the burning sensation right at my shoulder blade but only a small pained gasp left me. My breathing was getting heavy and my body was showing bad signs of raw exhaustion and I was suddenly very hot. I was completely burning up.
It burns. It hurt, it freaking hurt. My heart was racing and cold sweat trickled down my forehead and neck. My hair was now matted against my face. I screamed again as the sizzling burned into my collar bone and my body arced in pain. Another screamed followed the other but this was in fear, when I felt Gaster penetrate the first ring of muscle. The skin around there burned and stretched painfully, contrasting terribly with the sizzling on my shoulders. Everything was just happening too fast for me to even comprehend. And I was helpless, hopeless. I couldn't do a thing but stay still and watch. Watch as Saig unsheathed the dagger in his thigh holster, my eyes widened in panic, and drove it into my daemons stomach.
He couldn't even scream as he was dropped to the floor like a bag of dirt. His blood coated his cerulean blue fur and seeped out onto the floor boards. The sight...the gruesome sight, forever burning that image into my head. Nothing moved anymore, nothing talked and it was like the time had stopped. The burning in my shoulder intensified, and my stomach felt like it had been ripped open. A dribble of blood ran down my chin and dripped ino the bed, the sound echoing in my ears. My surroundings went black and the only thing in my vision was my cat. It glitch.
He was dying. He was dying trying to save me.
Why?Why?
Men. He died in the hands of men. They really were all the same weren't they.? I was going to rid this world of evil. I was going to rid this world of them. I was going to purge this world of those who wish to poison it with their seed of deceit, corruption and fear.
Saig, Saig, Saig, Saig Saig Saig Saig Saig Saig Saig.
You.....
"I'll...." I croaked and everyone halted to listen to what I had to say.
Yes. Good girl. Angry girl. Yes. Rile it up- grasp it. Menacing whispers rang in my head, my mind filled with shadows and anger and darkness.
"I'll ..." My emotions rose uncontrollably to its peak, hitting erratically at the surface.
You.... Will....
Yes, good girl, angry girl, take it out, let go or they kill you, yes reach out....reach out...reach OUT to me....me...
"I'll...." Everything hurt. Everything felt too overwhelming.
You...Will.....PAY!!!!!!!!!
"I'LL KILL YOU!!!!!!!" Then everything shattered. Surging through my veins was a new wave of power and and energy that burst through me and released through my body in a form of blue electricity. It struck the men and sent them flying across the room, barely unconscious and when that power left me I felt empty. The pulse instantly diminishing and leaving me in a sweaty, panting mess.
I looked at my pale hands in astonishment, my body going cold. This was mine, my power, this was what I was capable of. It was exhilarating. My vision shifted from my hands to my cat, my blood going cold at the sight of him." Little... little cat. No!" I screamed, putting on my jeans after getting up from the bed and running to him. I dropped to my knees, not minding the blood. My eyes teared up again and my fingers trembled. I reached out to touch him but hesitated, my fingers hovering over his barely breathing body. And I felt it.
The connection that was slowly slipping away with his life. His soul. The connection between us touched me on a spiritual level, and I felt a part of my soul tearing away and pulling at the strings connecting our bond.
Saig, groaned behind me, stirring to consciousness and I wanted nothing but to make a deep gaping hole in his stomach just like he left it in my daemon. But we had no time and the power that I had felt was long gone. Swallowing my hesitation, I took him into my arms as gently as I could afraid to put pressure on the wound. The moment we touched I felt a flicker of electricity connecting us, and the little cat roused slowly in my arms before closing his eyes again. I quickly grabbed my bag when the other men were awakening and ran down the flight of stairs and towards the front door.
A gasp behind me brought me to a stop, and my ears flicked in the direction. Turning, green eyes met grey ones. The Faey-or elf, what ever he was stared back at me in shock and understanding. The blonde girl beside him put her hand over her mouth in shock and disgust when she looked at the dying daemon in my hands. I picked up the sound of the men running down the stairs and wasted no time in bolting into the night, ignoring the calls of Sir Keylin.
I needed to run. For the mission, for the little cat's sacrifice, for Ekhanto, for this world and for my promise to her. Fuck!!. He's gone and I didn't even get the chance to name him.
My feet were tired and my breath were laboured but I didn't stop. I couldn't. The adrenaline in my veins only pumped the more at the sounds of three horses hooves digging the ground and inching closer to me. Those men were never going to leave me alone, were they?
A racking scream left my lips when a painful whip struck the skin on my nape and sent me thumbing to the ground. The three horses rounded me and trapped me in between them, closing any escape route. I could only sit in the grass, cradling my friend and watching up at them, surrounded me with devilish gaze.
"Where were you going halfbreed scum," Gaster cackled evilly." We still have unfinished bu-"
Before he could finish his sentence, a giant dire wolf about 3,39 meters tall jumped the man and tackled him off the horse and to the ground. The other horses went frantic with fear and and ran off with the other men. My ears were filled with the sickening sound of tearing flesh and the piercing agonizing wail of the man that was short lived. My fearful eyes watched as the wolf looked into the direction of the other men, the riders eyes trained on me. Hair as black as a ravens feather, matching the black of the wolf's fur and eyes so grey. Sir Keylin.
" Run." He shouted at me pointing towards east." Run and don't stop. Hold him tight, share your life, let him know that you're there. Reach out to the bond and repair it with your power say the words halfbreed. Say the oath. Go, now!!"
I wasted no time and sprinted off at his command while he chased after the two men, promising myself to find him one day and show my gratitude for saving me. I owed him my life.
I kept running, feeling the heart beat of the little cat slow down every minute. The scream of the men that rung through the air pushed me forward, a frightened scream leaving my lips. I didn't stop running until I collapsed by a tree out of exhaustion. My limbs felt sour and ached terribly. My breathing was hard and wheezed and my lungs burned. My hoodie was soaked with my sweat and the little cats blood but I could care less. I leaned against the stem of the huge tree and looked down at him, snuffling.
"I'm sorry." I was racked with sobs." I-Im s-so s-sorry. F-forg-give me, forgive me for being so, so w-weak, for being not able to save you." I cried out, cried so hard that there were no tears anymore, only heartbroken sobs.
That was when Keylin's voice ran through my head.
Hold him tight. I held tight onto the little cat, and curled us into a ball.
Share your life, let him know that you're there. Reach out to the bond and repair it with your power. Say the words, halfbreed. Say the oath!!!!!!
What oath?????
But however, I could feel it. The bond we both shared. It was there, but weak. I inhaled carefully and and relaxed into the warm feeling of it, imagining myself reaching out to the depths of his soul. I smiled, when I felt him. When I truly felt his soul. It was a warm, beautiful blue, dancing around the hand I stretched towards it. It was aware that I was there with him.
"Hey..." I whispered into his ears." Don't die on me okay?..... I'll give up my life for you so don't.....don't go. We just met. Don't leave me here.....I can't....I can't do this alone...I need you. Do you here me? I need you...I can't do this without you."
One last tear drop dropped from my eyes and on his, it twitched and like magic I felt an overwhelming surge of power in me and words that I didn't know I knew came flooding in.
"On my life-" I began." We who are two half's of one, the sun and the moon, the night and the day, the river and the land, shall never part. We will walk the face of Tundran side by side, for eternity till death finally brings us into her cold embrace. Forever bonded, forever fated, we will protect one another, trust in one another and never betray the bond we share or else the Earth shall drink my blood...on my life."
My eyes dropped drowsily when the power in my veins diminished and sleep finally enveloping me just at the last words crossed my mind.
Forever always. C...ul....an.
