The snake came tumbling out of the ground, leaving cracks below.
With the rip of a single magic scroll, a ball of fire shot toward the ground and crashed into its open mouth. Like a dog, the snake screamed in pain and made some distance between us, going back into the ground.
This was probably the most hits we were going to get in on it. The snake would be more vigilant now, and damaging it would be impossible. I doubted that a single attack did much other than intimidate it either.
But that was enough.
"All of you, I'll be counting on you."
"A-alright…" the warrior said, holding his blade out. The tank went next to him and the wizard at the center with me at the back, forming a reverse triangular formation.
The group of three ahead slowly stepped forward.
"D-do you have any plans?"
"Can we really take this on?"
The tank and the magician were hesitant, but their excitement wasn't lost on me. These people were probably thinking about just how much they would be earning from this battle alone.
"Its eye is a weak spot, the lower end of its body is also not covered with scales, that's why it stays under the ground."
The warrior chuckled.
"Haha, we might just be killing this guy!"
With the information divulged, I looked up at the peaks again.
The regressor was gone from behind the boulders.
"Yes…" I muttered. "We better get right to it."
The three of them charged and I followed from the back. Their weapons raised high and their skills on the ready.
The ground started trembling once more. Things were moving according to plan.
With the high charm stats in play, the chances of the snake running away were grandly reduced, and with the snake constantly peeking out, the places where I could trick it had increased.
"Here it is!" The warrior screamed.
"[Fire Magic: Rain of Arrows!]"
A magic circle formed mid-air around the spot where the ground trembled, and with the forthcoming of the snake, the rain of flames poured down on it all at once.
The snake swallowed the small arrows whole barely affected by the attacks.
"[Axe Bash]"
The tank swung his axe at the top of the snake's emerging head. A metallic clang rang out as sparks flew from the point of contact.
"E-eh!?"
The tank screamed.
My heartbeat hastened. It was going just as I had imagined, just as I had thought. My life... my life was going to be secured. In this hell that I was suddenly thrown in...
I was going to win.
In rage. The snake came further out of the ground, exposing most of its lower back.
"STUPID MONSTER!" The warrior screamed and dived at the snake's belly, his blade shining a glow of white.
Like a hero aiming for the final slash, the warrior charged ahead and swung his blade.
"Ah…"
And another clang rang out as it bounced right off.
"I-it's not weak… at all?"
Stupid. Human.
This is all your fault. Not mine.
"[Shadow Manipulation]"
With the snake and the warrior in my range, my shadow stretched out and grabbed the shadow of the warrior.
"Move! Luther! It's going to eat you!"
"Get away!"
"I-I… Can't move?"
The warrior's eyes turned to mine.
And the snake dived down.
