With an earth-shattering scream, the snake dived down on the warrior close to it, completely ignoring me with my canceled stats. Having to attack someone close to it, the snake had no choice but to reveal more of its body and dive down.
The last phase of my plan was complete. With my heart running faster than a sprinter in the Olympics doing a sixty-meter dash with a world record on the line, I hopped away from the battlefield and screamed.
"Regressor!"
The last and the most turbulent part of my plans.
Was leaving things in the hands of a coward. There was only one reason I decided to do it, and it was because I was more than a hundred percent certain that if I died here, then so would the regressor. There was no chance of it not happening.
And so, I decided to trust.
Not in him, but in myself.
Thankfully, I never had to play it out.
As the snake munched on the body of the warrior and slithered toward the other two, revealing now all of its body, large explosions rang out in the mountain ranges.
The rocks on the sides started to tremble before falling down the ridge and crashing into the snake.
"KRAA!"
The snake screamed, the remaining half of the tank falling out of its mouth.
That girl, the wizard, used the chance to run our way.
Why hadn't the snake gotten her yet? If she moved now, then that would put us in danger.
That…
Wasn't good. What if the regressor had to turn back in time now? Would he even cooperate anymore?
No, I couldn't be sure.
I had to remove such variables, so that the regressor could always and always come back for me and trust only me. There has to exist no other way of solving things, the very thought was not necessary.
I slowly made my way ahead, past the remains of the fallen rocks and toward the snake that was being assaulted by the debris.
It was about to get up and move again.
Using all of my strength, I called for my shadow once more and sent it riling ahead.
Just a little, just a little more.
As I inched closer and closer, fortune shined down on me. The snake's sharp fangs, for a fraction of a second, reflected the light of the sun and extended the shadow that the wizard cast.
My shadow touched hers and stopped her in her tracks. Using the shadow of a small rock, I made it move forward and smashed it into the woman's head.
The wizard fell back.
The snake dived on it once more, and at last, a net of steel spider webs came crashing down from the skies.
Large boulders mixed as another explosion rang out and the tight net fell over the snake. I was stuck in the middle too as all the explosive magic scrolls I had purchased unleashed their wrath over the mountain and crashed down from all the ends.
When the cloud of dust moved and I rubbed open my eyes again, the snake trembled slightly.
It tried to move…
But couldn't.
"Haha…." I chuckled. "Hahaha… hahahaha…."
A laugh left me on its own as my heart slowly calmed down, as if a bucket full of ice had been poured straight on my head.
The snake… the boss of the fifth floor, was now trapped in my grasp.
