Chapter 3 - The Call

(Brian's p.o.v)

Just in my room relaxing, Not drawing, not writing, nor watching TV. Just relaxing. As in I was on my bed, facing the roof, Charlie Puth keeping me company, singing to me my favourite song (dangerously). The song set on repeat, volume low. My phone being the device I used.

There were many artists to listen to but I was in the mood for him. Not sure why but there was something about that day that made me in need of that specific song.

Usually I'd spend my mornings drawing, mid mornings catching up on the latest sci-fi series or blockbusters. I had a harddrive full of them, afternoons script writing, and that lasted for five hours. After that I'd go take a walk, maybe clear my head, take in fresh air then come back for supper. After supper. Well, I'd do whatever I felt like doing, whether more writing or drawing or watching or just go to bed. Whatever will do.

In my family, it was me, My mother, younger three brothers and step dad. Before my isolation routine it was me, two brothers and mom. Then we were closed. I was the muscle, my mother the head, my younger, the brains and the last born, he was the wild one. Then highschool happened. I guess we just grew up. When Andrew joined highschool, a lot changed. Who knew he was the substance holding us together. Most of the time there were misunderstandings between me and mom, which truthfully speaking, it made look like the villain of the story. Whose story, I did not know but what I did know was, I didn't like the character. So I stopped trying to change to unchangeable and I did the unbelievable I grew an indoor hobby, writing was the hobby. The point in doing so I guess I was tired of being weak and I thought it was high time I took control of my life and stood up strong. Since I couldn't do it physically, I did it mentally, then transferred it to reality by Just a pen and a paper. Just by a wave of my pen, I became the hero in my story. I didn't give a dumb about theirs and by theirs, my mother included.

I wish I could tell you that's how I started script writing, but no. What I was doing then was just writing, as in, justification of My sins, actions and emotions. How I came to write script is a hell of story to which I'll tell it soon. As if highschool was enough, there came Sam. His birth changed everything coz weeks later I was in a different city, different environment with a different family, same faces though but not the same, hence my routine. The point of it was to minimise my interactions. My family wasn't mine anymore, My best friend was miles away, not there anymore and Maya, Maya was something else... something not there anymore.

While in that state, the phone rang, turning me conscious again.

When I had it rang. Only two people came to my mind. Normally they were three, but since I was less than ten miles away from my mother, it couldn't be her, only Cephas or Philip remained. But not them.

The caller was someone new. Maybe one of the two changed their number number, so I picked it up.

"Hello?"

I said. Expecting a male response, instead I heard the opposite, like a female voice, maybe wrong number, I thought.

"Hello." She replied the continued..

"Brian?"

"Yes, who's this?"

"It's me Maya." On hearing her name, everything just went blank. Out of all people I expected to call me, she was the list.

"I never thought I'd live to the day you'd call. What did I do this time, that you had to call?"

"Can we talk?"

"Am listening."

"As in, not on the phone."

"If you were not informed, am not in Peace Place anymore."

"In Bitter city, I know, Andrew told me."

"Of course he did. Now you want me to travel all the way back again. You must be jocking, I closed that chapter months ago."

"I meant, Niko stage."

"Meaning?"

"Meaning, am standing at the Bus stage in Bitter city, come pick me up."

"What are you doing here?"

"You don't want to pick me up, fine, I'll locate you myself."

"To your left you'll see a bench, go take a sit, I'll be there in ten minutes."

"Okay then am waiting." That's what She said then disconnected.

Classical Maya. She hadn't changed.
