I sighed a little while looking out over the gathered demons. The crowd, though small, was filled with a diverse group of faces. There was a variety of demons here. And they all came from different factions and levels of the underworld. They were so different, yet they were all the same in a way. They all had the essence about them. Something that marked them, and me, as being from the underworld. As being demonic, for lack of a better word.
I wanted to focus on those things that linked us rather than the fear I had so recently separated us with. They were here because Talia wanted them here. Not because they had chosen this life. And I needed to understand and accept that more than anything else.
