The moment the door shut, and I knew we were all safe, I heard the sound of footsteps coming toward us. At first, I was a little startled by the sound. There hadn't been anyone near us when we entered the hall, but suddenly, there was now.
When I turned to see the person coming toward us, I noticed that it was Lex, as I expected. I thought he would have been here waiting for me when I arrived, but he seemed to have been somewhere else for that time.
Knowing that Lex wasn't going to take kindly to the arrival of these demons, and even less kindly toward the hellhound, I started to plan what needed to happen from here on out.
With a look and a gesture toward the hellhound, I had him jumping into my arms. It was true what Acacius said, the hound was tamed already. And he seemed to be willing to do whatever I needed of him.
