Chapter 17 - Liam

The thing about love is you never see the next thing coming. It's always a new day and a new way of falling for her. I wanted nothing more than to stay in bed with her for the rest of the day. Caressing her and kissing them luscious lips. But the matter of the heart is never considered when it comes to my father. He always finds a way to tear us away from the bliss we end up in when we're alone. Happy moments never last though. Which is why we must cherish them and the memories we make when they come. Harold's little soldiers came barging in on Rose and me. Not a care in the world for what we may or may not have been wearing. "Master Harold requires your presence in his office. There are some matters of protocol and another issue that has come to attention that is necessary for your attendance." I cursed allowed. "What the fuck! Can't you see we're busy here? I don't give a fuck what my mother fucking father wants! Tell him to go fuck himself!" I yelled enraged suddenly. I wanted to tear their throats out. I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was Rose, I looked at her, now clothed. And I realized why I was so angry. The thought of them seeing her naked made my wolf side come out full force and I became very territorial until she touched me. I don't know what it is about her touch but it seems to soothe the beast inside every time. Yet I still found myself pulling her close to me, hugging her tight as if they were going to steal her away. "Tell Harold we'll be down in five." She said to them. They nodded and left as if her very word were law. "Like hell, we will," I grumbled. I didn't want to deal with him or whatever new problem he had for us to solve. Rose giggled against me and hugged me tight giving in to my need for affection for a minute. "I know you don't want to and I'd rather spend all day in here with you as well but we have a job to do. Don't think of your father as the person we're helping think of all the other students we're helping. Including our newest member Lupus who you're secretly in love with. I'm so jealous." She kissed my cheek and jumped out of bed before I could grab her. Pull her back into the bed and tell her to hell with it all. She held her hand out and said "Come on, love." How could I tell her no when I would follow her anywhere at the same time. I begrudgingly got out of bed, making myself presentable as well. We headed downstairs hand in hand to see what my father needed.

We entered his office and I did not expect to see what was before my very eyes. There perched on the window sile was a cat. The damn thing was in my spot. Only I'm allowed to stare out the window dramatically. He really replaced me with a damn cat. Before I could help it a growl escaped my lips. What came as another shock is Rose growled as well. The cat jumped at our sudden outburst. "Whoa calm down, let's not do anything hasty," Harold said stepping between us and that heinous beast. "Would you please change back now and hold a conversation with us that is all we wish. I promise they won't hurt you." What the hell, he was speaking to it now. How dare he assume I won't rip that tiny thing to pieces. But as he stepped back behind his desk, the cat was gone, and in its place was a girl. Still had cat ears and a tail but a girl nonetheless. Rose who was usually the voice of reason in these scenarios, growled again. Practically yelled the statements that came out of her mouth. "Well who the fuck is this and why is she on the premises without permission. This isn't how the protocol is done and why weren't we told of any new students? You always tell me, I mean us, everything Harold!" Seeing her so angry and finally telling my father off for once felt great and it was a turn-on as well. I should take her back upstairs and we can put that fire to use. No dammit, Liam focus. That's not the play, yet. "Yes Harold, do tell us what this peculiar social call is all about," I said pulling Rose to my waist. Which seemed to ease her angered breathing a bit. She even wrapped her arm around me but was still staring daggers at my father. Today is a good day for Liam. Harold put up a hand as if to say stop for a second and listen. "This here is Linda. She is a lost soul. She came here to escape an arranged marriage that her parents set up. That's all I know. She is not into talking much more than that little bit of detail. And with you two frightening the poor girl. It is not helping the situation. And we do help people here. It would do you both well to remember that." Harold finished dramatically as he always does. I rolled my eyes."Yeah, 'cause we must follow Father's rules wouldn't want to make him mad now would we?" I asked sarcastically.

Rose stifled a laugh beside me. Harold ignored me and focused on the new girl. "Let's all go grab something to eat and finish this discussion in the conference room. I'm sure you must be hungry after coming all this way too well we'll discuss why you're here in a bit. If you're open to talking and no rush, Linda dear. We just want to get to know you and see what we can do to help your situation. It's what we do here. We help everyone here that we can. If you need somewhere to stay we can make accommodations. Rose usually helps with that and my son Liam here can also help show you where to go. They will not harm you, I promise. Their anger is not with you. It is with me. Now let's eat, shall we? Is that okay with you, Linda?" He said it in such a gentle fatherly tone. I wanted to vomit. Sure he is always nice to everyone that isn't blood. "Rose and I already ate your majesty." I bowed in jest. "That's fine. You two can just grab a snack or just accompany us to the cafeteria and then to the conference room. You will remain in attendance, Liam. Excuse my son's ignorance Linda, he tends to forget his manners. Although I've taught him better." He stared daggers at me. Only made me roll my eyes again. I led Rose to the door and opened it for her. I bowed again, not being able to help the smirk on my face. "After you, M" lady." She smiled back at me and I knew she wanted to laugh at my attempt of humor. She always let it out after the fact when we were alone and told me so. She didn't want to seem cruel in front of my father. She respected him to some degree and I would never understand why. But I guess she wanted to play the role of a good daughter-in-law. Not that we're engaged, yet. I haven't had the chance to pop the question. But I will one of these days and it'll be perfect.
