Bella was the first one to react as she pulled Emma to sit on the floor. Since the whole area was doused in darkness, they were hidden to some extent but if someone was to look closely, he would be able to make out their figures.
Emma's heart was beating fast as she locked her gaze on the block where the sound had come. Soon two people dressed in sailor uniforms came out of the small exit carrying what seemed to be a bag with them.
Emma was unclear about their intentions and observed silently. They dragged the bag up to the railing, picked it up, and threw it into the ocean. The bag made a splash as it hit the water.
"It is done." One of them gruffly said.
"Hmm, let's go and inform him." The other replied and they went away without noticing that someone had witnessed their actions.
"What did they throw in the sea?" Bella asked gravelly. She found their actions dubious.
"They didn't tell me before getting rid of that bag." Emma curtly replied. Although she was also concerned about their movements, she didn't want to get caught into unnecessary trouble.
"Why are you getting angry at me? What did I do?" Bella was infuriated by Emma's words.
"You were stupid," Emma said and got up from the floor without caring about Bella who was fuming at her reply.
"Young miss." Bella was scared out of her wits, thinking those men had come back to get rid of witnesses.
Emma was also startled but she recognized the voice and sure enough, she saw Kale standing at the entrance of the corner.
"Kale." Emma's voice brought back Bella's soul that had escaped at the thought of being found out.
Kale didn't answer back as he waited for Emma to come over. Emma looked at Bella who was struggling to her feet and rolled her eyes before helping her stabilize herself.
Something clicked in Emma's mind.
"Don't tell me what you just said was a lie," Emma stated as she saw Bella's reaction.
She should have doubted Bella as she said she posted James' video online. It was impossible considering the influence James had on her. Emma wanted to sigh for not catching her obvious bluff.
Bella was both surprised and embarrassed as her lie had been seen through.
"H-how do you know?" Bella tried to appear nonchalant which failed miserably.
"Your response to Kale's voice explained a lot of things. Want to come to my cabin to talk?" Although Emma wanted nothing to do with her, she couldn't ignore her when she was in trouble. And since it wasn't safe to talk here, she suggested going back to her cabin to talk with this lamb pretending to wear the skin of a lion.
"Why would I want to talk to you? Didn't I say I hate you?" Bella asked as she still wanted to save some face in front of Emma. She had already been caught lying and she had cried so mournfully too, now she didn't want Emma to look down on her.
"As you wish," Emma did not insist as she walked up to Kale wanting to head back to her cabin.
Bella thought for a moment and decided to follow Emma. Emma was caught off guard by her as she had expected Bella to reject her and didn't stop her.
Kale escorted Emma to her cabin before going to his own. Emma opened her cabin and turned on the lights as she went inside. Bella also followed suit and entered. The first thing she noticed was how huge Emma's cabin was. It had floor-length glass windows on one side with an extended area outside the windows where two chairs were placed looking over the sea.
A king-sized bed was placed in the middle of the room. Overall, the room was comfy and luxurious. Bella was stunned by the cabin as she sat down on the fluffy bed.
"Wait here, I'm gonna wash my face real quick. Make yourself comfortable and feel free to take a drink from the fridge." Emma motioned to the mini-fridge placed by the bed and went to the bathroom.
Bella got up and took out a water bottle from the fridge. She drank a mouthful and sat down.
"Now tell me, why did you lie?" Emma came out after five minutes and asked while drying her face.
Bella was quiet for a while then slowly began, "I didn't want you to think I'm a loser."
"Both of us know that we are not in a position to say mean things to the other. If you are a loser, how am I different from you." Emma reasoned. Even if she didn't like Bella, she wanted to make Bella comfortable as it took a lot of courage to open up to another.
"You are right," Bella said in a low voice.
"So, what happened between you and James?"
"As I said, he bought a similar promise ring for his mistress. When I confronted him, he simply said that it wasn't like he had promised to marry me or anything and that he was free to do whatever he wanted." Bella's eyes watered at the reminder.
"I found out that he was planning to go on a vacation with her and that she was pregnant with his child."
Emma was speechless at the revelation. She didn't know how to comfort Bella who was now bawling her eyes out. She knew that James was cheating on her but she thought that it was a one- or two-time thing and that he was serious about Bella.
But that wasn't the case at all. Emma silently heard Bella and didn't interject her as that was the best comfort she could provide.
"Even if I go ahead and post about his cheating online, everyone will only bless them, especially his grandparents."
Emma was sure that James' grandparents would support the woman carrying their blood rather than Bella, who wasn't liked very much by James.
"He broke up with me the day he found out that girl was pregnant. He is even going to marry her. And when I used to ask him about our future, he always said that he wasn't ready to take the responsibility yet." Bella overcame her cries and told.
"I have never met such a scum before. He was the one who first said that he loved me and then went ahead to cheat on me."
"When is his wedding?" Emma finally asked as she saw Bella's emotions calming down.
"He's going to marry her at this cruise this week on Saturday. He wants to hold the most luxurious wedding for her." Bella told as her eyes became ruthless at the thought of being cheated on.
"Does his family-"
"They all know." Bella cut Emma. "They knew from the start. They even supported her when I confronted that woman."
Bella laughed as she looked at Emma. "You might have guessed my purpose for coming here."
"I'm going to destroy his wedding. I'm going to tell everyone that he is a cheater." Bella's words were sharp and resolute as she stared into nothing.
"What will you get out of it? It will only tarnish your reputation. They might even sue you for trying to scare their daughter-in-law to cause her miscarriage." Emma tried to explain how that was a bad idea since it was one thing to ruin a woman's wedding but another thing to ruin a pregnant woman's wedding.
"I'm not telling you because I want you to support me or anything. I'm just telling you so my violent heart can calm down. Otherwise, I might end up doing something regrettable."
Bella said as she got up. Her attitude was firm with no intention to back down from what she had just told.
Emma felt a headache coming. She didn't want Bella to make the mistake that she made.
Although her heart was calm knowing that she had taken revenge for her humiliation her reputation was damaged. It would take years to gain her reputation back. Nobody found fault with Max or even Ana who were responsible for causing her to lash out.
People only blamed her. Because she had hit her ex-fiancé, she was considered the villain.
Bella saw that Emma was deep in thought and didn't disturb her.
After a while, Emma gathered her thoughts, "How are you planning to destroy his wedding?" Emma couldn't help but ask.
Bella wasn't surprised by her question. It was as if she had expected Emma to ask.
"He gave me an invitation to his wedding. He might be disappointed if he didn't find me there." Bella ambiguously replied.
"Are you planning to create a drama while he says his vows?" Bella nodded.
"It will not do anything to him. It's pointless unless you wish to wash his name clean." Emma inhaled sharply as she explained.
"Why do you think so?" Bella didn't expect to hear such a response so she was a bit taken aback.
"You will allow him to come to clean off his relationship with you. He will say that you both have broken up for a long time but you have been stuck up on him and refusing to leave him. I believe that he knew you would do this which is why he gave you the invitation in the first place." Emma clarified.
"That's not how you deal with such trash. You need to discreetly throw them in the incinerator without getting your hands dirty."
"What is your suggestion then?" Bella asked to which Emma smirked.
